The Pink Puzzle Incident (AKA My Bio) https://roadto3.com/the-pink-puzzle-incident/
The Difference Between A Brand And Branding
The first major problem that most businesses face is that they are befuddled by the marketing communications industry between what a brand is and what branding.
A lot of businesses make the mistake of spending a lot of money on branding thinking that's actually going to give them a brand and they absolutely are entirely different things so the first thing that's worth pointing out is what's the difference between branding and brand.
The branding is essentially the logo's look and feel. It's essentially how people engage with you in a physical and a visual way. That has nothing to do with brand where brand differentiates itself from those is something that we defined back in 1999.
Often most agencies can't tell you the difference between the brand and branding. We define a brand as every experience that affects the relationship between a product or service and its buyer.
The true brand can only exist in the mind of somebody who's exchanged the one single currency they have available to them which is time.
Time also manifests itself as money but in order to have money you have to spend time earning it, so for most people except all those that are independently wealthy most people have to work and give up their time to earn money.
When they're actually giving you money in exchange for your product or service they're actually giving their time.
Brand Is About Relationship
So what you've got to demonstrate is that what you're giving them back is gonna be something that will take them a lot longer to do than it took you to do. That's how
product sales and service sales go but the key thing about brand today is it's a relationship.
It's a relationship that people value more than the relationship they have with their money.
If you've worked for a whole week or a whole month for your money, your relationship with your money is very tight.
Our job as marketeers is to make sure that you facilitate an understanding that the relationship I'm going to give you with my product or my service is worth more than the relationship you have with your money.
What Is Your Morning Routine
My morning routine has evolved over the last five years. I've tried a lot of different things, kind of like a chef cooking a dish, just experimenting.
It's a quick one, it's less than 30 minutes because I've got three kids, so I need something that I could sustain.
- I answer some questions.
I ask myself what my priority is for today. What am I grateful for? These are pen to paper. I also ask myself, who am I going to reach out to today? This includes clients, family members, mom or dad etc.
- Affirmations. Whatever is on my mind I write down on paper.
Exercise. I exercise for five minutes and that's not my only exercise but it's my morning five minutes. I'll do burpees for five minutes or pull-ups or the ab roller thing, just different movements for five minutes.
Meditation. I meditate for five minutes using the "Insight Timer" app on my phone.
Reading. I read a few pages right now. I'm almost done with Robin Sharma's, "Ever The Everyday Hero Manifesto".
Light Therapy.
I have a "Happy Light" which is a UV light that I shine on my face like a crazy person. It feels good and enhances my mood. So I have that shining on me as I write down my answers.
I do this routine for 25 minutes each morning.
1) What’s the person?
What’s your unique solution to give them a better life? Everybody buys a better life so if you have the solutions to the problem to give them a better life and you can frame that in the right copy then you’re going to be able to have a framework that’s going to take this person from their problem to the solution
The way that this happens is through the delivery of the right product, the right process and the right people.
I break that down into three different components.
It might be your marketing partners, it might be your bookkeeping people, might be your human resources people that you outsource. Its anybody that is helping you to deliver the promise that we’re making to our clients.

The Pink Puzzle Incident (AKA My Bio) https://roadto3.com/the-pink-puzzle-incident/
We all have some level of burnout that we’ve experienced before, whether it’s from finals week and we get tired at the end of that or from all the work that we did or it’s from our family during the holidays and we’re like, “I don’t want to see you for a while”.
The level of burnout that I got to was almost this kind of “shutdown level” of burnout and I didn’t realize it was happening.
It happened over the course of about six months and it took me by surprise.
I didn’t know what’s going on.
It started in about January and I would complete a project and instead of being excited or proud that I completed it, I would think to myself negative thoughts that the client will not like it or it will somehow not be good enough.
Over the course of those next six months things started to progress.
I would get done with a meeting and I’d be really frustrated and I would just like to rage quit and just be really angry or I would avoid client emails and I didn’t want to open them because they were always needy or needed to do this or that and so I just left them alone.
I got to a point where I would work 15 minutes and then I would be so bored with what I was doing I had to take a break. I had to go outside and walk or something like that but it would turn into an hour-long break.
I was working by the hour and being paid by the hour. That’s not really a good way to make money.

It is important to understand that the way people visit our profiles the first thing they see when I look at your profile is the banner and the profile photo. These give a very quick impression and it needs to be meaningful for your ideal reader.
Simply uploading a banner is something that probably 99% of Linkedin users have not done and it will take 30 seconds with Canva and 30 seconds uploading it.
The best content I found to work on Linkedin is educational content.
If you think about your ideal client and ask yourself, what are they struggling with and what educational content could I think of that would make them understand what I bring to the table.
You have to think about the terminology you would use when someone searches for your specialty.
Think about the first five seconds where they see the banner and the headline. Is it going to make people scroll down to get more information from the featured section on your profile?
Have A Call To Action On Your Linkedin Profile
The call to action should be instructions to go to your website here or download this piece of information.
I recommend identifying the evergreen content that you have and leveraging it on Linkedin on your profile and sharing it in specialized groups.
I call this a DPI, Digital Portfolio Inventory. You simply look at every content piece you have from the perspective of your prospect. You are simply informing them or giving them information that will help them run their business and you give away information that makes them view you as a trusted advisor.

★☆★ Who Is Julian Leahy? ★☆★ The Pink Puzzle Incident (AKA My Bio) https://roadto3.com/the-pink-puzzle-incident/
The process started back in 2018 when I lost my job you know I had worked for a for-profit school and I had been in post-secondary education for over 15 years and one day in December 2018, less than a week before Christmas, I got a knock on my door and it was from our campus president.
He said Mark , I need to see you in my office. So I go and our regional directors are there, all the other management team is in there and they tell us that they’re closing their doors and not just for today and they’re closing the doors for good.
To add insult to injury they said they’re doing that at five o’clock today. So literally I had about a six hour notice. I had no job a week before Christmas.
I went home and called my wife. I told her that I was gonna be there for lunch today and she said great.
I said but I’m not coming back to work, we’re closing our doors. She immediately was kind of taken back and shocked.
She didn’t panic, she was the glue.
She said to me”
So after about three or four weeks of feeling sorry for myself, angry and agitated. Then I just started journaling about my feelings and about what was the lesson that I’m supposed to learn throughout all of this.
That opened the door in my mind.
I kept continuing writing and decided to put out a youtube video.
On January 16 2019 I launched my very first youtube video that got well over 100 views and 100 likes which is unusual for a first video to get.
It seemed to be getting traction so I just kept at it.
Then in June of that year a good friend of mine came to me. He wanted to introduce me to a gentleman that owned a radio station, Star 107 FM based out of Columbus Ohio.
We had a conversation and the gentleman’s name is David Bynum. David liked what I was talking about and offered me an opportunity to present “The Process” on the radio every second Saturday morning at 10 o’clock.

The Pink Puzzle Incident (AKA My Bio) https://roadto3.com/the-pink-puzzle-incident/
Let’s just imagine two people and they both look very professional and they introduce themselves and one says, “Here’s who I am. I have all these credentials”. The other person says and I am a published author.
That author status elevates you!
Everyone’s filtering all the time as to whom should I believe, whom should I trust and who should I listen to.
Everybody wants to get this wisdom to be as successful as possible, whether you’re a solopreneur, or have a growing business.
I was on the women’s business graduate advisory board while I was working on a book about strategic alliances with the head of internal alliances at Accenture. I met somebody by the name of Jocelyn Carter Miller. She is well known for successfully bringing Motorola into Latin America and rose to being Vice President Of Motorola Inc.
I asked her a very significant question which was, “what’s one thing that you haven’t done in your career you’d like to do” and she said “I’d like to write a book”
So I went back to my publisher Jossey-Bass and shared with them that I’d like to do one about the corporate side of networking. They agreed and we ended up working on the book together.
After working with Jocelyn on the book, she asked if I would like to deliver a proposal to come in and work with her to help us look at best practices for building a world-class marketing initiative out of Motorola. I agreed and it ended up being a half a million dollar contract.
My passion is about supporting authors as much as I can.
The crust of the pie is 30% of your book. It’s your outline. That’s so important that I spend a long time with authors to help them go through the outline
All the great ghost writers I’ve spoken with will tell you that if you create a great outline you can write a great book.
One of the best places to research is Amazon. I consider Amazon a million dollar research tool because you can go in there and look at the thousands of categories.
I usually recommend moving up from the one star reviews because it will make you feel good. You can look at any fantastic best-selling author example James Clear who wrote Atomic Habits. You can look at his one star reviews and you can see some things that readers wanted but that he failed to cover in his book.
You can then write a book that is similar to The James Clear Book, but includes all the topics that he left out.
Add 10% Of Your Personality To The Book
The final piece of the pie is the garnish. It’s going to be all about your personality and that’s the final 10 percent. The remaining majority of the pie is your content.
