This is a great beginners guide to understanding the ins and outs of CI or Competitive Intelligence. Every business thrives to know what the competition is up to and this is a beginners look into CI. There are other books that will give you a greater in depth but as this was a for dummies book I would very much recommend anyone wanting to begin with a basic approach to CI.
Great book. Excellent service .
Great book
Fantastic Resource for all Organizations, both Big & Small...
The need for this - competitive intelligence - became painfully obvious one time when I was consulting with a financial services firm. I met the board of the company and asked for a list and data on their competitors. Blank stares, until one exec says "There are too many of them, we don't bother."
I replied, "I just interviewed six of your salespeople, asking why they each lost their last couple deals. They said 'the buyers went with a competitor.' None of your team had a clue why the other company was a better choice. You need some competitive intelligence."
This problem and many, many more are solved by Underwood's "Competitive Intelligence for Dummies"
The book is chunked into well-written pieces that are easy to absorb. From collecting information to analyzing it, to responding and crafting strategy from you new knowledge, this book is a brilliant tool that any size firm would be wise to use.
One of the most important business books I've read in the past 10 years.
MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Some good info, but mostly common sense approach
I received both the Competitive Intelligence for Dummies book and the Business Analysis for Dummies books and I thought they would go together pretty good. I was wrong.
