    Just TOO Long
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you like the story to be drawn out for a LONG time.
Would you ever listen to anything by Kate Noble again?
Probably not. This is my 2nd try, and it isn't emotionally compelling enough. Too much repetition.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alison Larkin?
    She wasn't the problem.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The characters were strong. The plot just needed to move more. I couldn't get past the half way point. It was just too slow.

Though she secretly wishes for the death of her unkind husband, Matilda never could have imagined the guilt that plagues her when the illustrious duke is befittingly murdered by his own mistress! When Matilda turns to Torridon for comfort, she discovers a few surprises are in store for both of them.

    Matilda's story
This charming story seems to have more substance than many of Ms. Chesney's tales. It's like a double romance with the relationship of Matilda and the Earl of Torridon (do we ever learn his name?) developing alongside that of Letitia and Sir Charles.
Murder, yes, and mystery, and a bit of scandal swirl around a fine cast of characters in this easy-to-follow plot. Try it; I'm sure you'll like it!
The conquest of fear, real and imagined.
This is a excellent series about 3 women who became friends with the connection that their husbands were abusive. The prior two books resolved the first two friends, one's husband is mixed up with French spys and murdered while the other's husband unsuspectingly participants and thus receives his just deserves, while the wives go to their HEA. Both these books were very exciting and romantic. I highly recommend this series.
Then there is the last book of the series concerning the Duchess. This was a bit of a let down when compared to the prior two books. The Duchess is lonely because her friends are happily married, and seems to be somewhat envious. When she is unexpectedly relieved of her husband (and it is truly spectacular), she should have the freedom to make her life into something more joyful. Instead she is confined by her own narrow beliefs and the opinions of others. She comes close to loosing the opportunity for a truly happy ending due to her fear of scandal. The theme is the conquest of fear, real and imagined.
Her Grace's Passion is better than the first book in the series
This book was more entertaining than the first one, although again the plot is driven by murders and attempted murders. I liked the characters, particularly Leticia and Sir Charles, who show above average intelligence and sterling character. I do recommend you try this one. It is part of a series, but it stands alone.
    Well-written but a bit of a mess
This book had enough plot for at least two novels. The first half of the book is all about tragically unhappy marriages. The second half of the book is about the heroine giving a young vicar' s daughter a Season in London. Very random. I would have much rather skipped the vicar' s daughter and have the real heroine save herself. A very well-written book, just a little too much plot.
    Cute little story
I'm a big fan of M.C. Beaton, and I just discovered these titles by her.
I'm not a big fan of romance novels, but these are cute little reads.

    Five Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I've read almost all of Andrea Kane's historical romances. This was my favorite!
    Great Reading
All of these books were very fascinating to me. I love historical settings and the suspense was great. The characters were well developed and made you want to keep reading. I loved it.
    Andrea does it again!
This was a great historical romance. I love Andrea, and I am glad that she has finally a book set in the states. Dane and Jacqui are really likeable characters, and I loved the kitten "whiskey". Set during the Revelutionary War, Dane and Jacqui follow there hearts and beliefs. Jacqui is daring and not a fainting miss. Dane is the hero of every girls dreams. If you love Andrea you will love this book. Andrea has not let us down with this one.
Good book, just not my setting
I prefer Andrea Kane's English settings to the american ones, just personal preference. But if you enjoy the revolutionary time period from America's perspective, then you will love this book. I highly recommend Ms. Kane's books my two favorites are Wishes in the Wind and the Emerald Garden, both of which I gave 4 and a half stars.
    Masque
I really appreciate Andrea Kane's writing style. Her stories are colorful and very realistic. She keeps the stories rolling along with her wit and humor.
One "little deception" can land a Duke in the Parson's Trap quicker than steamy kisses with a beautiful virgin.

    Members Reviews:
What a great series; listen to all three books!
Five plus stars! Caroline Linden has pulled off a hat trick all three volumes of The Truth About the Duke series are first rate.
The series revolves around the de Lacey brothers Charlie, the indolent, rakish heir; Edward, the dutiful, serious-minded son; and Gerard, the devil-may-care veteran of the Napoleonic wars. Their father, the Duke of Durham, has left a death-bed confession detailing his youthful marriage to an actress, which means that the dukes marriage to the brothers mother may have been bigamous and that the brothers are in fact penniless bastards. A blackmailer was plaguing the duke with anonymous letters in the year before his death, and the mystery running through the series involves their efforts to find out the truth about the duke. Edward first takes charge, as he always has, and hires lawyers to investigate the facts and fight it out before Parliament (One Night in London). Gerard (Blame It on Bath) gallops off to find and kill the blackmailer. Along the way, they meet and marry their wives, settling down in domestic bliss and leaving Charlie to finally solve the mystery and claim his title.
I must pause here to compliment the author on her masterful first chapter of this book. She tells the entire backstory, as well as the moving story of Charlies growing up, in this chapter, and it is brilliantly done. Too often, a series author starts out with an info dump designed to catch up the reader who may not have read the earlier volumes. At the other extreme, there is a paucity of information, which leaves the frustrated reader wondering who? or what? Ms. Linden avoids both extremes here, and by the end of the first chapter the reader is fully engaged in the story. (As a result, this book works very well as a stand alone, but the entire series is so delightful that I recommend reading it in order.)
Left with no other option, Charlie sobers up and reluctantly sets out to find and confront the blackmailer. Hes not too optimistic, though, as hes never really accomplished anything worthwhile. Mainly hes devoted himself to living up to his fathers opinion of him as a worthless fribble.
Charlies pursuit takes him to the York Hotel in Bath, where he accidentally learns that Tessa Neville, a fellow guest, is somehow connected to Hiram Scott, the suspected blackmailer.

    Critic Reviews:
"[A] rich and passionate tale." (RT Book Reviews)
    Members Reviews:
Crisp, witty writing and excellent narration
This is a delightful follow-on to One Night in London, part of The Truth About the Duke trilogy. The three deLacey brothers, sons of the late Duke of Durham, are trying to find a blackmailer and secure evidence to show whether their father was a bigamist. If he was, they will be considered bastards and lose virtually all of their inheritance.
    What I Liked
Captain Lord Gerard deLacey. He's handsome (of course), brash, adventurous, and loyal. He's the youngest son, serving in the wars against Napoleon. Under any circumstances his fortune will be relatively small, so he's decided to be on the lookout for a rich bride while he travels to Bath to track down information on the blackmailer. When a perfectly strange wealthy woman proposes a marriage of convenience, he barely hesitates before deciding to take on the challenge.
Kate deLacey. You can't help but feel sorry for her at first. She's hardly had an enjoyable life, despite her wealth. Her vain, narcissistic mother has convinced her she's too plain to attract a man and had married her off to a middle-aged viscount, who ignored and abused her. Now that he's dead, her mother is pressuring her to marry the viscount's odious heir, convinced that nobody better will ever come along. Kate is such a doormat that she doubts her ability to withstand her mother's pressure. The most enjoyable part of the book is watching her emerge from her shell, in response to Gerard's kindness and attention. She doesn't become a "beauty," but rather simply a beautiful person.
Sexytimes. Gerard wants to break down Kate's defenses, and she discovers her previously unknown wanton side. Excellent love scenes.
The love story. Kate harbors a childhood passion for Gerard, but he has no memory of meeting her. Linden does an excellent job of showing Gerard's surprise and wonder as he gradually finds himself falling in love with his wife. This is just a very sweet story.
    What I Didn't Like
Not a lot of progress is made toward resolving the mystery, but after the first book, I came to realize that it wouldn't be wrapped up until the third.
As a 21st century woman, I often have trouble understanding an 19th century woman's desperation to get married.

    Members Reviews:
    Snobbish annoying rather stupid heroine
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I haven't even finished this book and I am so mad at the heroine. What a fool! Sam really cares for her and all she cares about is social position and what is expected. Even now with an hour left she scoffing at love as if it is the most ridiculous thing she has ever heard. She keeps saying she is trying to avoid a broken heart but really the girl is a broken down snobbish harpy who won't admit she is wrong even if it means she ( horrid Deliah) will be unhappy. He tries to talk to her several times and the women tells him the same tired line over and over we aren't right for each other it wouldn't work blah blah blah.....
At this point I don't care if Sam and Deliah ever see each other again.
    Which scene was your favorite?
    There isn't one!
Was The Scandalous Adventures of the Sister of the Bride worth the listening time?
    No
    Boring! Didn't bother finishing.
What disappointed you about The Scandalous Adventures of the Sister of the Bride?
I was disappointed with the dialog. The characters talked, but didn't really say much. There was no tension between the hero and heroine.
What was most disappointing about Victoria Alexanders story?
The whole premise of the story was that the hero/heroine are meeting each other after a night of passion. From what I heard of the heroine, this was highly unlikely. I just couldn't see her getting over herself enough to do something like that.
What didnt you like about Susan Duerdens performance?
She made the hero sound like he was on downers.
You didnt love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
    I can't think of any.
    Any additional comments?
Don't waste your time, money or credit!
Boring story full of blah blah blah nonsense.
Well I made it to about 43% and this story is so boring. I will say 90% if this book is dialogue and I love dialogue in my books the more the better, but OMG I want it to be relevant. Do we really have to have dialogue about teacups? The dialogue is all nonsense.
This is my 3rd Victoria Alexander book I have tried and all of them have been a YAWN FEST.. I have officially quit buying her books to dull story lines lacking plots and a whole lot of filler nonsense.
As for the narration I love Susan Duerden and she couldn't even help this story be any better.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story by Sophie Nash. I wasn't familiar with her writing and took a gamble buying this book but it was good fun and a great read. I'm looking forward to more books by this author. The narrator was very good, she spoke very clearly and had many different voices. The plot twist and turns were great and I really want to listen to the other books in this series. Very credit worthy.

Feisty, Sassy, and Fun Highland Romance
This is a charming highland romance that is filled with bits of mystery and suspense. The main characters Shona and Dugald are a delightful pair and the secondary characters add depth to this enchanting story. (This is not a heavy detailed historical but more of a fun light-hearted romance)
If you enjoy light, fun-filled highland romances then this one is sure to entertain.
Laugh out loud funny, bought the whole series.
Where does Highland Scoundrel rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Ranks very well, finished it and started it over again. Made my sister listen and enjoyed watching her laugh.
What did you like best about this story?
Character development highly entertaining. Listening to Shona stick her foot in her mouth then get embarrassed trying to fix it, works every time.
What about Gemma Johanssons performance did you like?
She did a great job on all the characters. Found she did well in every book in the series.I buy a lot of books based on narrators and would buy more from her.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Kilts! Romance! Foot in the mouth heroine! Can't miss good time if you like to laugh
    Any additional comments?
Loved the way the characters flowed from book to book. You didn't loose earlier personalities which added to each following book. When you pull up series info more books are there than it looks they just don't show series numbers.
    Way to long!
This book was way too long to begin with and could have been a lot shorter. It also did not hold my attention and I found myself skipping through it alt just to get to the end. The narrator Gemma's female voice was horrible!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so sick of it, that I really didn't want to hear the female speak at all. I was expecting far more of this story. So disappointed!!

    At the top!
Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksens other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I've heard her before, which is why I wanted to hear this book. I wasn't sure her type of performance would lend itself to romances, but it's absolutely perfect!
    Any additional comments?
I didn't see any of these situations in the book coming. It was surprise after surprise, and I loved it. Excellent story line.
