WHL This Week - Radio Edition, recaps a WHL laden Team Canada gold medal victory at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.  After a dramatic overtime win, Canada claimed back-to-back gold medals at the event.  

Tri-City Americans F Parker Bell is the McSweeney's WHL Player of the Month for December. Bell put up 21 points in the month to help the Americans climb all the way to 4th in Western Conference by New Year's Eve.

The Victoria Royals have found some traction recently.  With the return of Team Captain Gannon Laroque, the Royals are looking more at a playoff push than a trade deadline sell-off. Royals General Manager / Coach Dan Price is a guest this week.

Finally, Red Deer Rebels F Kai Uchacz has become a hat-trick machine lately.   After 10 goals in four games, he's the WHL Player of the Week. He'll wrap up our show. 

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, heads to the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships with Team Canada Head Coach Dennis Williams.  The Head Coach / GM of the Everett Silvertips has Canada preparing for a New Year's Eve matchup against Sweden before the playoffs begin.  He'll join us from Halifax.

The Saskatoon Blades are right in the mix of the top teams after the Holiday break.  Blades General Manager Colin Priestner updates us on the season and just what he's looking at ahead of the WHL Trade Deadline on January 10th.

Finally, WHL linesmen twins Cody & Chad Huseby recently got the call of a lifetime... on short notice.  They were asked to fill in officiating duties in Edmonton for the NHL Oilers and Vancouver Canucks game on December 23rd.  It was their NHL debuts for the 37 year-old longtime WHL officials.  Cody takes us through the getting the call, and the hectic day before hitting the big stage with his brother. 

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, sends us into the holiday break by hearing from WHL players who have cracked Canada's World Junior team.  Players snagging a spot from the Selection Camp take centre stage like Colton Dach of the Kelowna Rockets, Reid Schaefer and Nolan Allan from the Seattle Thunderbirds.  11 WHL players have made Canada's World Junior Team.

Vancouver Giants co-owner Michael Bublè gets us in the holiday spirit as he recounts his experience at the Giants Teddy Bear Toss game and explains why he's involved in junior hockey ownership.

Also, hear from former WHL G Carl Tetachuk of the University of Calgary Dinos who has been named the WHL Graduate of the Month for Nov/Dec.

Finally, Lethbridge Hurricanes G Harrison Meneghin is the WHL Goaltender of the Month for November.  He'll be our guest.

13 players from the WHL and one graduate are at Canada's World Junior Selection Camp in Moncton, New Brunswick.  We will hear from Seattle Thunderbirds D Kevin Korchinski, Prince George Cougars G Tyler Brennan and D Ethan Samson. Kelowna Rockets F Colton Dach, and former Edmonton Oil Kings F Dylan Guenther of the Arizona Coyotes. 

Kamloops Blazers captain Logan Stankoven is also attending Canada's World Junior Camp as he looks for a repeat gold medal.  He's also the WHL Player of the Week.  He'll wrap up the show.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, features CHL President Dan MacKenzie as ticket packages for the 2023 Memorial Cup Presented by KiA are now available.  Dan previews the event and fills us in on what to expect in Kamloops from May 25th to June 4th, 2023.

The Regina Pats are wrapping up their BC road swing this weekend.  They have been playing in front of full buildings as fans look to catch a glimpse of Connor Bedard.  Regina has played in front of sell-out crowds across the Division with one final game to go in Prince George.

Swift Current Broncos F Caleb Wyrostok has started his own Cancer fundraising initiative called "Bronco Bucks Cancer". The disease has affected many loved ones around him., He explains his motiviation and the strong response so far.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, features WHL Linesman Troy Semenchuk after he was part of the 109th Grey Cup Officiating crew.  The Prince Albert, SK resident was the Umpire for the game as he juggles both WHL and CFL officiating duties. We will talk to Troy about that experience.

Moose Jaw Warriors F Brayden Yager is an "A" rated prospect according to NHL Central Scouting heading into the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.  Yager and the Warriors are on their BC road swing for the first time since the 2018-19 season. Yager will be our guest.

Finally, Winnipeg ICE F Zach Benson is coming off a big week. The top prospect for the 2023 NHL Entry Draft is the WHL Player of the Week after putting up seven points in two games. He'll wrap up this week's show. 

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, has the latest news on a pair of trades this week.  Hear from D Nolan Allan following a blockbuster deal that sees him go from Prince Albert to Seattle.  The former Raiders captain is on the move to join a formidable Thunderbirds blueline.  Also, Jakub Demek will take his WHL Championship experience to Kamloops.  The Blazers acquired the 19 year-old Slovak from the Edmonton Oil Kings for four WHL Prospects Draft picks.

Calgary Hitmen F Riley Fiddler-Schultz is in the midst of a US road trip. His team is off to a great start and recently won eight straight games.  Fiddler-Schultz is leading his team both on and off the ice.  He talks about his season and his on-going charitable work off the ice for Veterans, the Food Bank and the Boys & Girls Club of Calgary.

Finally, Prince George Cougars F Riley Heidt is the WHL Player of the Week after recording nine points in three games.  He'll wrap up the show.

Dylan Guenther is staying with the NHL's Arizona Coyotes after four years with the Edmonton Oil Kings. We will take you inside the Coyotes dressing room for the announcement.  

WHL graduate Riley Sawchuk (Tri-City, Edmonton) has been the WHL Canada West Graduate of the Month to begin the season. Riley talks about his start at Mount Royal University in Calgary and just how the WHL Scholarship Program has benefitted him. 

Finally, Tri-City Americans D Lukas Dragicevic is the WHL Player of the Week after a solid road trip with the Americans on their East Division swing. Lukas shares his experiences from the trip and a big decision he had to make in his WHL draft year.

The past - former Edmonton Oil Kings F Jake Neighbours is now with the St. Louis Blues after helping his team to a WHL Championship last season.  He was recently back in Edmonton and stopped by the Oil Kings for a visit. He'll be our guest.

The present - the Red Deer Rebels are off to their best start in franchise history. They are also flirting with the WHL's best win streak to start the season.  General Manager & President Brent Sutter talks about the start and this year's edition of the Rebels.

The future - the WHL had 43 players listed in the NHL Central Scouting's Preliminary Players to Watch List. Seven players were assigned "A" ratings. We will have a breakdown.

Finally, WHL Player of the Week Mazden Leslie of the Vancouver Giants rounds out the show as he joins us in the midst of a Central Division road swing.
