Today is Dia De Los Muertos (The Day Of The Dead) and I honor my loved ones today and everyday.

In this episode, I get raw about some things I have noticed and learned through my own grief.

The truth is that death IS a part of life.

As a former childbirth coach, I have seen the miracle of life being birthed.

On the other side of that is death. Yes it is sad, sometimes tragic and brutal but so is birth.

If we can talk about having babies and starting families in society, we can talk about when it is someone's time to go, even when unexpected.

These are the conversations that foster deeper connections, help us face our most vulnerable moments, and give us the strength to carry on.

This episode is the story of my recent rollercoaster of a lesson.

I felt so much shame around being irresponsible and losing my driver's lesson, which triggered me to have a huge crying release that I had held for a couple weeks.

While I have been having so many wins and breakthroughs lately, I was also reminded that life will life throw punches that I must roll with. Once I did, I had a realization of:

WHEN WE WANT OR DESIRE MORE THERE WILL BE MORE EXPECTED OF US.

⚡️This is what the Universe, God, Spirit were all trying to tell me: "hey, you're on your way so GET READY. Increase your capacity to hold more because you are becoming more."⚡️

There is so much talk around having discernment for other people and their intentions or their energy. But what about our own? What about being discerning of when we are doing too much or being too hard on ourselves?

I am calling myself out on what one of my principles in this episode! "Lean Into Discomfort": Am I here to encourage you to do so? Absolutely! But it should never come at the cost of our joy or peace.

We can live our lives AND apply whatever we have learned in our experiences WHEN life gives us that opportunity. But we don't have to constantly seek discomfort or self improvement.

This episode is about taking you on my personal journeys of knowing the difference between being outside of the comfort zone and suffering.

Yes, I went there and "beat the dead horse" on people pleasing.

I believe that when it comes to women no longer people pleasing, being empowered, and living with boundaries, half the battle is using our voice. But it takes consistency for the "speaking up muscle" to grow.

I shared something on social media this week that over 1500 women resonated with and I knew it was because at some point between childhood and now, they have also either had their power taken from them or given it away.

So this episode is a reminder that you don't have to give your power away anymore. If you have, give yourself grace and hold space for whoever you were in that moment and know that it's okay. Moving forward, your power is yours. Validation from others is no longer necessary and it's okay to return to sender.

Not only did I get to meet each speaker but I was able to see how so many people come together to not only support the speakers who said yes to themselves, but I got to see close up how many moving parts come together to give us the quality talks we get to watch on our screens at home. If you didn't know the difference between a TED Talk and a TEDx Talk, the difference is that a TEDx event is independently organized. Qualified TEDx organizers are able to put their own TEDx event together and I truly believe that Montrella knocked it out of the park with TEDx St. Pete Women!

This year I felt like I was drowning due to my health taking a plummet and I had to relearn how to use my voice, listen to my body and lean into discomfort more than I ever have. After months of darkness I finally began to see and feel the light again, but none of it was possible without some of my favorite humans that supported my vulnerability and held space, which has resulted in my empowerment. It has felt like a coming home to a familiar embrace and the best part is I am a better mom and partner because of it all.
