Mic Drops
đ¤Rich at (03:45) - Imagine a hostage situation. The Air Force is going to try and drop a bomb. The Navy is going to try and go through the back door. The Army is going through the front door. With the Marines, he is like weâre coming through the roof.
đ¤Rich at (08:00) - Whether youâre military or not, whenever youâre making a transition, whether itâs to another industry, whether itâs to another role, whether itâs to another city. Whatever it is, you have to be okay with the fact that youâre gonna start over. Like no one from the Navy could just come to the Marine Corps and be like âI got this.â Thatâs not how it works.
đ¤Rich at (09:53) - The question was simply this like âIf you were to start a business, in your town or wherever, what would you do? How would you start?â And I was like this isnât about their core values, this is not about managing people, these are not behavioral questions. This is literally like what's your business acumen? And Iâm like damn, I have been in the Marine Corps for a while so thatâs a little bit challenging. But itâs called O SMEAC, which is Orientation, Situation, Mission, Executionand then Commanded Signal.
đ¤Rich at (12:12) - If Mark was interviewing me, I would immediately try and figure out what Markâs pressing issues are in his role. And if I could solve and even speculate on how I could potentially solve the problem he has with my skills and my talent to make his job easier, heâs gonna hire me.
đ¤Rich at (16:50) - Iâm not telling people to quit necessarily. Thereâs great jobs out there and there's a traditional workforce for many many people. But if you feel that there is this untapped potential, I want to be the guy to help you realize it like itâs real. It can happen and I'm a lot better for it.
đ¤Rich at (17:17) - This is for anyone who is in a job right now or anyone who is interviewing for a job, or looking for a job. If youâre able to position yourself mindset wise to treat it as if you were paying those people with your money, youâre gonna be a very different person.
đ¤Rich at (17:45) - If this was coming out of my pocket, how would you look at it? Would you look at a P&L statement? Would you want to have relationships with the people upstream and downstream from you? There are so many things that I wish I could have done better. And I did things really well but thatâs a different story. You will stand out and it doesn't mean you need to be an entrepreneur per se. But if you think like that, thatâs going to just help you understand and elevate your business acumen a little bit.
