The Tao Te Ching is the cannon of Taoism and holds deep wisdom that is eternally applicable to the human condition. In this episode, I offer three passages from the Gia-Fu Feng and Jane English translation with my thoughts about why these passages are meaningful right now.
Apologies for the tardiness of this release. You'll understand the delay when you listen.

The management of this pandemic has been nothing short of farcical. And yet, there are lessons that we can each learn from what's taken place over the past two and a bit years. In this episode, I share my thoughts on language, beliefs, and acceptance, and how the pandemic has taught us some important stuff in each area.

There are many doorways into altered states of consciousness that can be helpful in your own self work. Meditation and hypnosis are two of those doorways. They can both be helpful.

The path of the seeker can be challenging. There can be contradiction in this work. One of the keys to progress is understanding that the timing of your actions is important. And that having a guide is an essential component of your journey.

Self-judgement is something that we all have to attend on the journey of self-betterment, self-actualisation, self-awareness… When we better understand how we judge ourselves we can learn new - and more beneficial - ways to hold ourselves and - by extension - others.

No one likes feeling stuck. And yet, at some point, we all feel exactly like that. When we get stuck, we can easily fall into a spiral of overthinking and harsh self-criticism. Here are two simple ways that you can get past your stuckness.

Therapy doesn't always work. I think that there is one key reason that therapy runs into trouble. And it is absolutely fundamental. And if it is not attended to then both the therapist and client are unlikely to achieve a successful outcome.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about personal responsibility. I guess this isn’t unexpected given the current pandemic climate. It seems to me that quite a lot of people are giving away their own power and pointing at others to take responsibility for what’s going on, and even fix it all.
So, how can we hold onto our own power and avoid the victim trap? Let's investigate...
Thank you for listening, and be well.

For years - no, decades - I approached meditation in a way that prevented me from experiencing its true essence. I was trying to meditate. I was looking for the right way. I wanted the best process. I missed the point.
Recently, I found a copy of "Meditations" by Jiddu Krishnamurti. It is a collection of Krishnamurti's ideas - from writings and talks - about meditation. I have found his perspective to be gentle yet powerful. And, finally, I feel like someone is pointing to what meditation really is and how to meditate.
In this episode, I talk about three short passages from the book and relate them to my experience, that of my clients, and provide some grist for you own mill.
Thank you for listening, and be well.
