Review - The Mind Robber

In "The Mind Robber," the TARDIS is forced off course into a dimension of fiction. The Doctor (played by Patrick Troughton) and his companions, Jamie and Zoe, find themselves in a mysterious white void. They encounter various fictional characters and creatures from different literary works, including Medusa, Rapunzel and Gulliver and discover they all being manipulated by The Master (not that one).

Yes, come and join Phil and Paul in the Land of Fancy, er... I mean Fiction where all things are possible if the budget allows it. Our intrepid reviewing duo tackle the televised and written formats of this story and while they find a few minor differences, what did this story really add up to? But most of all, please believe in us otherwise we will cease to exi............

Doctor Who - The Anniversary Specials | Silver Nemesis

In this story celebrating the 25th anniversary of Doctor Who, the Doctor and Ace face off against the Doctors old enemies the Cybermen (complete with a shiny chrome overhaul), a group of Neo Nazi's fronted by Anton Diffring (who looks like he would rather be somewhere else) and an old enemy of the Doctors, Lady Peinforte, who are all after an ancient Timelord weapon made of living metal.

Scott and Phil sit down on a sweltering September evening and chewed the fat over this disappointing celebratory story that features scenes that end abruptly, a flimsy bow from Woolworths and has the dubious honour of making the Cybermen totally useless and defeating them with chocolate coins is the order of the day.

Scott's Short Reviews - Invasion of The Dinosaurs

The Doctor and Sarah Jane arrive on Earth in the midst of the chaos and begin investigating the cause of temporal disturbances that make dinosaurs appear on the streets of London. They discover that a group of scientists, led by the renegade scientist Professor Whitaker, are behind the scheme. They are using a device called the "time reversal" to bring dinosaurs to the present day, with the intention of "cleansing" the Earth by erasing the technological advancements that they believe have led to its decline.

Join a very tired Scott as he takes a video diary approach to reviewing this story and what will he make of those dinosaurs?

Doctor Who - The Anniversary Specials | The Five Doctors

This feature length episode of Doctor Who bought back the previous actors (well 2 of them anyway!) who had played the Doctor to join Peter Davison to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the show. In a tale of forbidden knowledge and power being sought on Gallifrey, just who is taking various incarnations of the Doctor out of time and dropping them into the Death Zone on Gallifrey to play the game of Rassilon?

Once again Phil and Scott sit down to discuss this celebratory story which sees Scott ask just what is canon before moving onto even pithier questions on the topic of the Raston Warrior Robots butt cheeks.

This episode has also been released to celebrate Doctor Who Podcast Day!

Review - Smile

This episode Phil is joined by Iain Martin from the All of Time and Space and Strangers in Space podcasts, where they chat about perhaps creating an Inspector Morse podcast before the thought of Laurence Fox puts them off, footballers perms, methods of writing a book and what it would be like to watch Doctor Who as a 10 year old again.

Oh and they also chat about Smile starring Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie.

The News

The Fourteenth Doctor's new sonic screwdriver is announced via a very flashy trailer, Season 20 of Doctor Who gets the blu ray collection treatment and the 60th Anniversary Specials are being novelised via the medium of Target Books.

Review - Masters of War

Just for a change Phil and Paul have a listen to Masters of War, part of the Doctor Who Unbound series of audio stories from Big Finish. In this "what if" scenario, The Doctor (played by David Warner) and his travelling companion Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart land the TARDIS on Skaro and find that the Daleks have subjugated the Thals and the Doctor sets out to help them fight back. However not everything on Skaro is as it seems.

How will Phil and Paul react to a story that is not (gasp!) canon? Will David Warner live up to Paul's lofty expectations? And will Phil get his in his impression of a spaced out Mr. Burns? Listen to find out if any of this is true!

Review - The Faceless Ones

The TARDIS lands at Gatwick Airport in the 1960s, and the Doctor and his companions discover that some young people have gone missing under mysterious circumstances. The investigation leads them to Chameleon Tours and they uncover a fiendish plot to kidnap the youth of Britain!!

This unplanned podcast finds Phil and Scott chatting about The Faceless Ones starring Patrick Troughton as the Doctor. This is Scotts first animated story and his first Troughton story so there was a lot to discuss! This story is also notable for the departure of Ben and Polly from the TARDIS and both Phil and Scott reckon they have improved on part of episode six by creating their first Doctor Who reconstruction!
