Doctor Who | The Anniversary Specials | The Three Doctors

As 2023 is the year of Doctor Who's 60th Anniversary, join Phil and a returning Scott as they chat about the first of the Doctor Who Anniversary Specials, The Three Doctors.

Starring Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton and William Hartnell, energy emanating from a black hole targets UNIT headquarters searching for the 3rd Doctor. With this energy also threatening the Time Lords and the universe itself, the Time Lords send the 1st and 2nd Doctors to assist and discover the threat is from Omega, a long thought dead Time Lord who now exists in an anti-matter realm and is now hell bent on revenge.

During their discussion, Scott raises the subject of what happened to the Brigadier in this story and his dislike of CSO, before going off on a tangent on animated stories and Phil gives thanks to this story for contributing to the Who's He? Podcast.

Review - The God Complex

In this episode, the Doctor, played by Matt Smith, along with his companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill), arrive at a mysterious hotel that seems to be a trap for unsuspecting victims. Each room in the hotel contains the worst fears of the people who enter them, and the fears manifest as a creature that eventually kills them.

To chat about this story, Phil is joined by Mark Cockram from the All Of Time and Space Podcast to chat about this story that Mark chose for discussion. Obviously they get the chills about those damn ventriloquist dolls but for some reason the word "sexy" is used a couple of times for no apparent reason.

The News

In a surprise announcement, Bonnie Langford returns to our screens as Melanie Bush in the next series of Doctor Who and in other casting news, Lenny Rush is cast as Morris which sets Phil off rambling about the Doctor Who Marvel comics.

Omega's Tat Corner

This time Paul finds some pinball tat that makes their pair of them wistful about the amusement arcades of their youth, playing their favourite games and avoiding dirty old men.

Review - The Brain of Morbius

In the story, the Doctor and Sarah Jane arrive on the planet Karn, which is inhabited by the Sisterhood of Karn. The Sisterhood possesses the Elixir of Life, a powerful substance that can extend a person's lifespan which they have been guarding for centuries. However, they have a longstanding conflict with the Time Lords of Gallifrey, who have forbidden the use of the elixir. On Karn, the Doctor encounters the mad scientist Mehendri Solon, who is obsessed with creating a new body for the brain of the evil Time Lord Morbius.

As Phil and Paul discuss this classic Doctor Who serial and the differences between the TV and novelised versions, the subject of Brains Faggots is raised and Phil creates a new corn based snack, "Terrance Dicks Sticks".

Who's He? At The Movies | Judge Dredd

Judge Dredd, portrayed by Sylvester Stallone, is a highly skilled and respected law enforcement officer in Mega-City One, a massive city that spans the entire eastern seaboard of the United States. Dredd is framed for a crime he did not commit and is sentenced to life imprisonment. However, he manages to escape and goes on a mission to clear his name and bring the true culprits to justice.

Phil takes a look at this 1995 effort of bringing Mega City One's finest to the big screen and also takes a trip down memory lane as to how hyped he was back in the day and how disappointed he was after.

Review - Dust Breeding

In this audio drama from Big Finish, the Doctor and his companion Ace become embroiled in a mystery involving a group of artists, a missing painting, and a sinister force that seems to be taking control of people's minds and an old adversary of the Doctor makes an unwelcome return.

Phil and Paul have a chat about this rather enjoyable story that features Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred firing on all cylinders in a story that mixes the world of art with science fiction.

Who's He? At The Movies | High Plains Drifter

In Phil's first look at a movie for a very long time, he picked 1973's High Plains Drifter starring Clint Eastwood.

The story follows a mysterious stranger, who arrives in the small town of Lago, situated in the high plains of the American west. The townspeople are terrorised by a gang of outlaws who are due to be released from prison soon, and they hire the Stranger to protect them.

But this movie is western with a supernatural twist and turns the pioneering west on its head.

Who's He? TV The Mandalorian | Season 3 | Chapter 23 | The Spies

Things have certainly kicked up a gear in this episode of The Mandalorian, with an uneasy alliance between Mandalorian tribes read to retake Mandalore and Grogu now driving IG-11! But with Moff Gideon back on the scene, will our heroes walk into a trap and just who are the spies of the title?

Phil wonders if all of this is too little too late and also wonders if this season will end on a cliff hanger?

Who's He? TV The Mandalorian | Season 3 | Chapter 22 | Guns For Hire

In this episode of The Mandalorian, Din and Bo-Katan get sidetracked solving a droid mystery instigated by Lizzo and Jack Black and Christopher Lloyd pops up as this weeks villain! Oh and Grogu becomes a Knight for no apparent reason.

Yes, in a bizarre episode full of celebrity cameos, Phil wonders what the point to all of this was but does pull a smug face when his theory of who owns the Dark Sabre is proven right!
