Welcome to the next installment of the ongoing series we’re calling “Why Podcast?” In this and future editions, we speak to podcasters in and out of education about their podcasts. We will get into their why and talk about how they podcast.

Our next guest in this series is Gabriel Carrillo, host of the EdTech Bites Podcast. Our conversation with Gabriel dives into his passion for education and food.

Gabriel Carrillo is an Educational Technology Specialist. He’s been in the educational field since he graduated high school and has served as an instructional assistant, substitute teacher, teacher, dean of students, and assistant principal.

He is also a foodie and loves to cook and chow down on food of all sorts.

These two passions have come together in his EdTech Bites podcast. He gets to share these two topics with the world in each episode. He believes that the best conversations are had at the table then you break bread together.

Stacey: Student Podcast Challenge Teachers and students, got something to say? Put on your headphones and get ready to hit record! The folks behind NPR’s Student Podcast Challenge made this handy guide on how to make a podcast in the classroom. We’ll talk about how to gather good sound, ask great questions and conduct smart interviews. Plus, we’ll hear from the contest’s judges, last year’s winners and feature some pretty inspiring stories of students and teachers. It’s everything you need to make an amazing podcast!

Gabriel: The Empowering Parents Podcast – If you’re looking for real parenting advice that works, you’ve come to the right place. Empowering Parents has been giving our readers “straight talk and real results” since 2007, and our podcast aims to do the same. Not only do our experts tell it like it is, but they also give you honest, practical, effective advice that you can start using today. On our blog, in our article comments section and on our Facebook page, you’ll find other parents who are dealing with the same issues you’re dealing with right now. When you become part of the EP community, you’ll experience what many of our parents say: “It’s like you’ve been looking in the windows of my house and know my family. I am starting to parent differently and my kids’ behavior is finally changing. And best of all, I don’t feel alone anymore.”
