Canadian inflation for the month of June has come in at 8.1% - slightly lower than the 8.4% expected by economists. While this month’s figure does provide some relief that the acceleration hasn’t been as bad as economists were expecting, inflation is sitting above 8% for the first time since the early 1980s. So how should we interpret core inflation rising 5% from May? Today’s guest, Ilan Kolet, is here to answer that question. Ilan is an institutional portfolio manager on Fidelity’s Global Asset Allocation Team. His prior roles with Fidelity Investments (U.S.), Bloomberg, and the Bank of Canada, make him the perfect guest to analyze inflation.
