This time, I was talking with Taka Higashino during a weekend at the French supercross event at Supercross de Lyon and we were talking about how there is no real style in FMX any more unless you see it in an Upright Trick.

Of course, Taka is still one of the more stylish riders even on backflip combos, but the crux of the issue is - style always came from the uprights.You knew more about a rider in 8 jumps of uprights than you could in any flip-combo-fest.

Now, perhaps more than ever, we need to look back at the upright tricks where it is a lot more fun to learn for the riders, it looks cooler for the crowd and more importantly it's probably even 'relatable' to an extent.

I'm totally about this idea and would love to see an upright comp at X Games, or any competition for that matter!
