'The Slow Road' tells the story of driving down the North Coast 500 - but mostly not following it. Instead, we explore some of the detours along the way.

First, we drive from Torridon to Lower Diabaig, crossing a mountain pass that makes the hair stand up at the back of your next. Then, we leave the road behind to go for a hike in the Beinn Eighe mountain range. Finally, we drive down another detour - the winding coastal road to the beach at Red Point.

This episode shows that it's worth to slow down and tackle short sections of the North Coast 500 in-depth, instead of attempting to drive the whole loop in a few days.

'Rhins of Galloway' is a story about exploring the far southwest of Scotland - the hammerhead-shaped peninsula known as the Rhins of Galloway.

'Road to the Isles' is a story about the drive from Fort William on the northern shores of Loch Linnhe to Mallaig, a port town from where ferries leave for Skye, the Small Isles and the Outer Hebrides.

The Road to the Isles is not exactly a hidden gem - it leads from Scotland's tallest mountains to the sandy beaches of the west coast. But most people drive it way too fast on their way to the ferry. In this episode, we'll take it slowly and explore what's left and right of the road, the best places to stop and the stories they tell.

Hello there - it’s been a while since you last heard a story from me! But I am very excited to tell you that Wild for Scotland is coming back for another season very soon!

After visiting one island after the other in season 1, it's time to take you on new adventures! 

Season 2 will be all about ROAD TRIPS!

Every week, I’ll take you on a scenic drive around Scotland. 

We’ll be driving down winding coastal roads, and up narrow mountain passes that make your heart beat faster. We’ll zoom through lush glens, and down remote peninsulas that are definitely worth the trek. We’ll jump across to some islands and stick our noses inside castles, ruins and local shops.

But most importantly, we’re going to slow down to really explore what’s left and right of the road.

So, fasten your imaginary seatbelts and enjoy the ride!

What's the best time to experience the Isle of Coll? My answer to this might not be what you expect - let's travel there together in this episode of Wild for Scotland.

'Day and Night' is a story about falling in love with an island, regardless of when you head out to explore.

This is the final episode of season 1 of Wild for Scotland and in many ways, the show has come full circle. This story picks up exactly where 'Lullaby' - the first story I wrote for this podcast - left off. We're going to the Isle of Coll, first exploring its sugged coastline and rocky outcrops by boat, then seeing a different side to it at night.

Can you imagine walking to an island across the sea? This episode of Wild for Scotland takes you on an unconventional island hopping journey from the Isle of Colonsay to Oransay.

‘Between the Tides’ is a story about one of my favourite island experiences ever: the walk from Colonsay across a tidal causeway to the small island Oransay (or Oronsay – both spellings are common).

Home to a plethora of wildlife, dotted with historic sites and lined with breathtaking beaches, the island is worth the effort it requires to get there.

The origin of the name Oransay isn’t quite clear. Some believe it was named after for the Irish missionary St Oran, who landed here in the 6th century. Others link the name to the Old Norse word for “island of the low tide”. I’ll let you make up your own mind after listening to this story!

But the walk to Oransay isn’t the only highlight of a trip to Colonsay – as always, I include my top 5 tips at the end of the show.

You and Scottish whisky – was it love at first taste? For me, it certainly wasn’t… In this episode of Wild for Scotland, I tell you about my journey to single malt whisky and its culmination in a tour to the whisky distilleries on the Isle of Islay.

‘An Acquired Taste’ is a story about turning hate into love. The first time I tried single malt whisky, I found it awful. It took moving to Scotland, going to many distilleries and making myself try one dram after the other, to slowly mature my tastebuds. Eventually, I fell in love with Islay whiskies and was fortunate enough to join a whisky tour to the island and visit all 9 of its distilleries.

Whisky might not be everybody’s cup of tea – but did you know there are also two gin distilleries and a winemaker on the island?

After the story I share some of my top travel tips to plan your own trip to the Isle of Islay, whether you’re planning a whisky pilgrimage or just looking for a stunning island to add to your itinerary.

Islay has many tricks up its sleeve.
