This week Austin decides to talk about yet another French icon, despite still not being able to pronounce a single thing in French, and goes into some of the history of the Eiffel tower. Mattie digs into a global pandemic from 100 years ago and is filled with rage. we also have our first ever cliffhanger! what happens next will shock you in our thrilling tale of us trying to order delivery and having just the worst luck.

On this week's episode, Mattie Teaches us about some less well known, but completely badass female pilots from the early days of flight. And just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water Austin tells you about the 1916 shark attacks along the Jersey Shore that changed the way we look at sharks. We also spent most of last week assigning sitcom characters to Hogwarts houses. We are at that stage of cabin fever. Wash your hands.

you open the door and you see a podcast sitting on a pedestal. upon closer examination the podcast appears to have Austin teaching us all about how Dungeons and Dragons was targeted in the satanic panic. You also see Mattie going in depth about the history of toilet paper and how it is just yet another tool of the patriarchy. And lurking in the corner with the Owlbear is the first episode in a long time where we don't talk about Netflix reality shows. Roll for initiative.

This Week, Mattie discusses the many origins of April fools day and some spectacular historical April Fools pranks, Austin talks about the Voyager program and the spectacular work and planning that goes into space exploration. Also, We talk about Tiger King. A. Lot. We are all in agreement that Carole killed her husband and fed him to the tigers right?

On this episode Austin talks about how researching a Victorian Sex Cult just ruined his search history, and Mattie teaches us about Cyrus II and his leadership philosophy. We also have clearly gone mad from just one week of working from home together and binge watched all of Love is Blind on Netflix.

This week, we are dropping early because everyone is quarantined, self-isolating, learning how we introverts live, whatever you want to call it. Or they are saying "this is all a HOAX" and going about their lives, so...

Mattie talks about the history of hand washing. It's actually a lot more in-depth (and upsetting) than she ever knew. Vaccines have been around longer than hand washing guidelines. And you would not BELIEVE when hand washing became standard in medicine, food service, and daily life!

We WERE going to do a St. Patrick's Day episode, so Austin talks about the Irish Potato Famine and how it actually isn't that different from how things remain today. Ireland is a pretty neat place, though, and they remember their past.

You would think that this week Austin would tell you all about how Thomas Midgley Jr was the worst inventor history, or hear Mattie talk about the heroism of the Native American Code Talkers in the World Wars, but no. We mostly talk about how much we HATE daylight savings time. 

In honor of Dr. Seuss week, being celebrated across America's elementary schools, Mattie comes in to ruin the king of rhyme by telling about the things he believed and engaged in, especially early in his career. However, if you look closely at his books, you can still find evidence of the racism and prejudice he held!

Austin comes in to save the day with the story of a different (and real) doctor, Dr. Mutter, who revolutionized the way doctors perform surgery--by being halfway decent to their patients.
