Josh Vogel, who is a 2nd-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Balance Studios, joins me in this episode to share some of his work and insights on the organization of BJJ. We talk about the beginning of his Jiu-jitsu journey as well as his process of learning the way he teaches now. We also touch on The Sloth Report, Jiu-jitsu candle co, and his upcoming 90 day BJJ training plan that he and his wife, Angie Vogel are putting together for students to help with implementing new techniques effectively. I attempted to bring up a book I'm digging through called, "Striking Thoughts: Wisdom for daily living" featuring a shit ton of aphorisms (the word I forgot lol) from Bruce Lee. Kind of a coincidence that he died at 32 and I recorded this on my 32nd name day. I mainly wanted to talk about philosophy and my way of living in this episode and share some utilitarian wisdom I have learned to apply in my life. I need to do better with recording this LIVE and staying organized but I tried my best. Overall I enjoyed recording this episode as usual and hope you're able to get something out of it. In this episode, I talked about Optimism vs Pessimism, the balancing of both, and being a realist. I went over some details of not letting fear being the reason you don't do something. Be it the fear that comes from your past traumas, insecurities, or the fear of judgment from others. Learning to sit with shit that makes you feel uncomfortable. and I go at it again with the masker vs anti-masker shit because a thought came to mind about people not getting enough oxygen and wondering if that has any health risks with the brain. Found an article with a neurosurgeon saying it poses a risk to breathe in the virus to the brain but I know nothing about that shit as usual. As always take all I say with a grain of salt. Just trying to get people to think for themselves. Value your life, and value your time.
