Happy New Year!
Since it is the beginning of a new year, we are all being bombarded with emails about New Year's resolutions, coming up with our One Word, creating 'I will' statements, and the list goes on.
I believe in those practices, however, today I want to provide a different perspective.
A bigger perspective.
This week's podcast will help you 'zoom out' to remind us of why we even make resolutions, to begin with.
This week's podcast episode is unbelievable!
Mark Whitacre had it all.
At 32 years old, he had an 8-car garage, 13,000 square foot house, and his own jet!
However, he started to form his identity around this success!
As it so often does, placing our identity to temporary things, leads to poor decisions and erosion of character.
With the level of power at Mark's fingertips, his poor decisions led him to being involved in an enormous international price fixing scheme!
At the demand of his wife, Mark turned himself into the FBI, making him the highest ranked corporate whistle blower ever!
However, his greed and desire for more success, didn't stop.
Mark ended up making poor decisions while wearing a FBI wire, causing him to spend 8 years in prison!
However, this is an amazing story of redemption and restoration.
Mark became a Christian while in prison, helped prisoners get their GED, spent daily time in the Bible, and so much more.
In prison, he found his purpose.
Now he is an Executive Director with t-Factor, a division of Coca-Cola Consolidated (a $6 BILLION dollar public company), that helps companies incorporate faith into their work.
This is podcast is a great reminder of what is important in life, coming from a guy who had it all!
