Emily and Ky are back to share more about deeply terrible (and actually not all that bad!) sex ed! How old was Emily when she learned about the mechanics of sex? Where did Ky go to get the straight facts? If you would prefer not to have sex in a given situation, what are some graceful, thoughtful ways to turn down your would-be partner? Actually, never mind. We have none of those. Only wack ways. Remember to rate, review, and leave us a voice memo!!!
Not to give you more evidence for your string and pin boards in your basements, but Emily and Ky grew up in America, and as such, they received not very good sexual education. In fact, most of it was pretty bad. Thankfully, they still managed to navigate that mine field and turn out pretty ok! In Emily's case, it was complicated. But whatever! Which means they can mine that content for laughs for your benefit. It's like a greatest hits of fucked up shit we tell kids to try to keep them from doing it: comparisons to unwrapped candy, traumatizing personal anecdotes, borderline erotica between married people, and explaining how we're not there for pizza! Along the way, they drop some actually GOOD sex ed for our listeners, along with extra intriguing reasons why you should be in our voice memos! Have fun!!
Animals are just the weirdest, aren't they? Just when Emily thought nothing could surprise her about animals anymore, Ky stepped up to the plate with some truly mind-blowingly weird (and oddly demoralizing for a pair of circus artists) facts about those slow sweet somethings, sloths! Enjoy this rare treasure of an episode that required literally no editing except beginning and end trimming. It's a straight up peak into your favorite podcasters' brains! Which is why you're here, right? I guess also to learn how often sloths fall out of trees, how they solve mating opportunity disputes, and just how much they shit at once. It's a lot. It's just. A lot. Once you're done being astounded and laughing your ass off, it's time for you to FINALLY leave a voice memo or a review, and in exchange, Emily and Ky will donate a dollar of their podcast proceeds per voice memo or review received to a charity that supports sloths! AND, they'll both match!!! For up to a total of $30! Because they haven't yet earned $10 in podcast revenue...have I mentioned lately that you should share the pod with your friends? Maybe you did already and it's just taking a long time because your friends are sloths? We can't know!
It's been 2022 for over two months now, but who cares! Emily and Ky want to talk about Rudolph's Shiny New Year! A reindeer sequel twelve years in the making! Also historical Buffoon Ben Franklin is in it! This is a special remix episode where Ky gets cross-faded, so Emily's taking over the fact checks, and it's frankly odd how much science gets covered! How long is an eon? When did the first humans show up? When did the dinosaurs die out? I mean, what do you expect from a children's movie that features a place called 'The Archipelago of Last Years'? Get ready for existential dread, poor character design, and the debut of Ky's new theme song!
It will likely not surprise you, our devoted fans and valued listeners, to learn that Emily and Ky's Murder Mystery Party was not their first foray into weird birthday parties. You may have also noticed that birthdays bring out the weirdness in everyone. So it's only appropriate that on this, the first ever Birthday Season of Wine, Weed, Weird, Emily and Ky talk about how birthdays are weird, and weird ways they've celebrated their own solar returns. But what does it mean when the weird birthday party you've felt awkward about forever is the exact same weird birthday party as your cohost had? I think it means, your podcast is really special, and meant to be. Last call for Birthday wishes in the voice memos!!!
Emily and Ky are back with more Moomins! Because of course they are! Strap in and get ready to learn about some of their favorite characters: The Hemulin, the Hattifatteners, Thingumy and Bob, and The Groak! They'll also explore what the fuck is up with 'finders keepers' logic, the Moomins' parenting skills, and the philosophical implications of both humans, and zoos existing in the Moomin universe. And of course they'll also beg you for voice memos. Maybe you could just throw them a fucking bone?
Re-recorded just for you after mercury retrograde put us in the dump, Emily and Ky are bringing you all their commentary on episodes one and two of the painfully perfect, wonderfully weird 90's animated adaption of The Moomins! Ky tells us how she really feels about Snork Maiden. Emily brings us ancient lore, and complicated family trees from the Canon. Ky pulls an incredible fan theory out of the Hobgoblin's hat! All this, and so much more! (and more, and more, and more: get ready for at least one more Moomins episode next week!) If you love the podcast, Emily and Ky's birthdays are coming up, so now's a perfect time to show them the love! This episode drops on Friday, and Emily's birthday is Sunday, so get to the episode page at anchor.fm/wineweedweird, and leave a birthday voice memo!! And then get to apple podcasts to leave a five-star rating and review! This episode has absolutely earned one.
They are the Moomins! Finally! Emily is wildly excited to be sharing her precious, precious Moomins with all our listeners, and after getting through a few episodes, Ky is almost as obsessed as Emily! Not quite. Emily got the Moomin House play set for Christmas this year. Now, the Moomins started with books and comics by Tove Jansson, but the 90's Japanese (dubbed into English version) animated series is an absolute delight, and beautifully faithful to her original stories and character designs, so we're starting there. And yes, due to technical difficulties (it's a miracle this is the first time this has happened, truly), this is a tiny taster episode just to give you some Moominous background. Emily and Ky will be back next week, and probably the week after that, to talk about a handful of episodes. It's a good thing they took some notes! Did I mention it's our 40th episode?? Now that's what I call Wine Weed WILD!!! If this ten-minute taster left you hungry for more, explore our rich back catalogue! Might I recomend "There's No Chill in a House Fire", or, "By the Cloud that Followed Him"?
