It's another accidental 2-parter! Which, honestly? Emily and Ky should have seen coming. The 1987 proto-Pixar animated masterpiece, The Brave Little Toaster, probably deserves its own season! Is the relationship between the household appliances and the little boy they love so much...appropriate? Does Ky just have dirty mind? Why isn't the refrigerator sentient? How much do library cards cost? Oh yes. They talk about libraries a lot in this one. Because they're important! Do YOU have your library card? What are you even doing?? Go get one! And then watch the Brave Little Toaster! Which is mysteriously available for free, with no ads, all in one video, on Youtube, but NOT on Disney Plus! Does anyone know whats up with that??
It's our last SpoOoOoOoky Season Episode, and we are going out with a bang! Emily and Ky are joined by not one, not two, but...two and a quarter(?) special guests: Emily's sister Alexis, and Emily and Ky's dear friend, and beautiful ageless swordfish, Megan, and an additional disembodied voice wearing a dinosaur-print button-up all chime in for a round table discussion of the 1986 classic train wreck, The Worst Witch! The writing may be abysmal, the special effects cringe-worthy, and the plot resolved in two minutes, BUT, there's a five-minute green-screen song and dance number with Tim Curry in Isis wings, so all in all, it's a must-see. Don't miss Ky stepping into her judging corner early, Emily, Ky and co's business plan for a bachelor party bait and switch, or their mini-review of the ABC family hit show, The Secret Life of the American Teen-ager! It just might be our spookiest, and most unhinged, episode yet! Side note: toward the end, we mention the possible need for a content warning, but ultimately, we cut the stuff that it might have been needed for. Apologies if the overall effect is that we're making light of content warnings. Content warnings are good, and important!
Emily and Ky are continuing their tour of weird vhs tapes Emily used to get from her small town library, as well as their obsession with Donald Fucking Duck with these spooky season shorts! And how appropriate are both of these topics for the 25th episode of Wine, Weed Weird??? Our little baby podcast has been listened to 400 times, and we are wildly grateful to whoever out there is down for our weirdness in America, Australia, Germany, Canada, and more! So, what is literally anything that is going on in "Duck Pimples", starting with the title? Did the bracelets turn into crackers? Are pearl handcuffs kinky? If a gorilla is in your house, why would you not just leave? When did Donald's house get so big? Why is this gorilla so angry? This shit is unhinged. Ky literally can't even handle it. Emily is strangely unperturbed. There is no fact-checking, because that's Ky's job, and she's just trying to keep up. So maybe you can tell us what's up with the murderous gorilla trope? We'll just tell you the myriad ways this shit is weird!
Spooky season continues, and today we’ve got a classic Halloween song! Tiny content warning: Emily and Ky start the podcast halfway through singing a worship song with hand motions. If references to that sort of thing bring up painful memories for you, believe me, we get it. Just skip the first 30 seconds or so of this episode. You may think you know the “Monster Mash”. Ky sure thought she did! But prepare to have your world rocked because this one gets even weirder than they thought, and the fun backs are truly wild. Tune in while Emily and Ky paint a picture of a musical debut, an experiment gone awry, a sex party, and/or a variety show! It’s either the Halloween party we all wish we were going to, or the most awkward gig ever, but either way, we will definitely be doing the mash.
Someday, this podcast will have fan merch, and the first shirt Emily and Ky offer will just be covered in w’s, but the second one will say something like “Let Donald Duck Chill” as long as they can do that without being sued because, damn, he is a friend of the pod, and the ultimate weirdo, and he is so clearly being set up at all times. Is this video about Donald Duck? No! Is Donald Duck the narrator? No! Is he inexplicably and utterly unnecessarily still in it as an incompetent artist, and doctor who dispenses giant golden keys that are a metaphor for birth control? Yes! Disney is at it again with a simultaneously progressive and wildly sexist, at times surprisingly disturbing, always incredibly vague video about…family planning. Are you ready? Probably not, but let’s go! Oh yeah, did I mention this is the REEEEEEMIIIIIX episode? Emily’s a little drunk, Ky’s a little high, and they both have a lot to say about Texas’ bullshit abortion law. That is, if they can remember if they announced the topic yet.
