Emily and Ky are back with a tropical bop to get you through these cold, January days. Yes, of course you've heard this song before (even though you probably didn't know the actual name of it), but do you know how fucked up it is?? The answer is very, and Emily and Ky are here to break it down for you. Consider this a bonus couples therapy session! What are the keys to a healthy relationship? What should you do if you feel like you and your partner are getting into a bit of a rut? Are newspapers involved? Absolutely not! Ky's bringing the fact checks, so pull out your blender, make yourself a pina colada, and contemplate what you can learn from this very not normal song.
Emily and Ky are back for part 2 of the wacky reality tv journey that is Too Hot Too Handle! Who's who in season two? How long do these people have to get busy when their weird babysitter bracelets give them the green light? Why is it so hard for people to temporarily refrain from sex?? Emily and Ky dive deep into gender issues like, why are costumes for women sexy and costumes for men silly? And how is this show, like literally everything else, weighted in men's favor? You won't want to miss exploring sexuality with Ky, or Emily and Ky's takes on who actually should have won the show! Join us for an episode that is not too hot too handle, or too cold, but juuuust right!
I know what you're thinking: did Emily and Ky mess up their podcasting calendar?? Christmas was almost a week ago! Well to that we at Wine, Weed, Weird Central say, Bah, humbug! Christmas is a SEASON not a day, and has traditionally been celebrated as a 12-Day Festival! Did you not know that, dear listeners? Well, neither did Ky! Tune in for this Christmas classic that is about as weird as they come! Ky has her own theory for why one's true love would give a partridge in a pear tree, Emily has a Christmas wish regarding the nine ladies dancing, and you'll get to listen in as the magic happens when Ky is inspired with a new show idea! You won't want to miss Emily's cherished (possibly demonic?) childhood Christmas memories, or Ky's distressing fact check. The most wonderful time of the year isn't over yet! Ring out 2021 with some laughs!
We all knew it was only a matter of time until Emily and Ky talked about Veggie-Tales again, and here it is, just in time for the holidays: the Larry's first Christmas-themed Silly Song, "Oh, Santa!" Maybe it's the only one; they didn't check. Tune in to hear Emily and Ky tackle the big questions: What all counts as a vegetable in the veggie-tales universe? Do the veggies commit cannibalism? And what are the political ramifications of Larry receiving a visit from a member of the Internal Revenue Service?? You've got one week to leave us that voice memo in time to be featured in our Christmas Eve episode! Do it!
Emily and Ky are very thankful for their special guest, Sam! And, the horror comma comedy genre! Get ready for a turkey who never seems to get around to murdering anybody, an impossibly long short movie, a hermit who’s just a guy, a very informative fact check, and, titties! This one's a hoot, or should I say, a gobble! It's the magic of turkey killing! Are you thankful for our podcast? Go leave us a voice memo! And a review!
P.S. Emily didn't do the best job distinguishing between the issues of misogyny, and fat shaming in this film: the movie makes a lot of jokes about Billy being fat, and that's fatphobic and shitty. The movie also does the thing where all the lady characters fit within a super narrow standard of beauty, while the men are allowed to be worthwhile even if they aren't painted as attractive, and that's also shitty. Maybe the movie's self aware about it? I think it's part of the joke, but the jokes are still punching down, so, not great.
