Episode 126

The fellas talked golf for the majority of this episode. From favorite golf games to handicaps and everything in between.  Dustin and Connor played another round at Connor’s home track - Dustin had a little redemption this time around. 

There was a bit of good news surrounding the Wings lately: Moritz Seider has cracked the NHL’s top 50! Sitting at #49, that’s quite the spot for a second year player! Some lists have him even at 41 and one list had him as a top 10 defenseman in the league. Needless to say, it’s been awhile since the Red Wings have been on the receiving end of some much deserved praise. Can’t wait for the season to kick off! Only a little over a month until we have hockey back!

Episode 123

In this brief episode, Connor and Tyler talk golf (obviously), world juniors, and Nazem Kadri landing in Calgary. 

What a crazy end for the world juniors! Mason MacTavish stole the Fins’ hopes at gold by batting a sure fire goal out of the air, then Kent Johnson seals the deal for team Canada later in OT. 

Kadri is back in a Canadian market - is this good for him? Seems like the roster is made for him but we all have heard how tough Canadian towns are to play in.  All I know is that we couldn’t be more excited for hockey to start again!

Dustin makes a surprise appearance at the end!

Episode 122

Of course we had to kick things off with some exciting golf news! Dustin’s golf game has been improving drastically - much like the Wings’ roster. We discussed both in detail. 

The new look of the Red Wings should have the fans excited and tuned in to most of the games - the majority of people checked out midway through the past few seasons. 

Also, has Tyler lost his mind?? He has Detroit finishing in 4th in the division AND ahead of the Panthers. Time will tell if he’s an idiot or a genius!

Episode 121

After free agency, Stevie has us all singing “Don’t Stop Believin’” for a wildcard spot. That’s the expectation, at least. What a turnaround that would be from the last 2 seasons. The boys dive talk about the most recent free agency moving as well as some head scratcher trades and moves by teams from around the league. 

Of course the boys had to bring in a little golf talk:
Dustin had a BAD experience with a local golf course. Tyler had a brutal start, but finished strong this weekend. Connor shot a 78… which is alright I guess.  Dustin is also playing TPC Michigan this week as well as Golden Bear in Hilton Head.

Dustin and Connor are back together, this time they talked about the most recent draft picks.
Dustin actually wrote about Marco Kasper in his mock draft: (https://www.wingsaucepod.com/post/in-the-2022-draft-the-detroit-red-wings-with-the-8th-pick-of-the-first-round-choose). Marco was playing out of the SHL last season, and we all know how much Yzerman likes to find draft picks in the SHL.  At 6'2'' he has some good size which we hope to see him utilize in front of the net similar to what we are looking from from Rasmussen (2017 9th overall). The boys also brought up a little golf, with The 150th Open Running next week, it should be interesting seeing how the Old Course tackles some of the worlds best. Development camp has started, and the Red Wings 2022-2023 Season Schedule is out. Its going to be soon when we see the Winged  Wheel back on the ice!

Dustin and Connor join you this week to discuss the final week in hockey for the season! Did Colorado in fact awaken the beast and are destined for a Game 7? Will Colorado close it out in 6?(which happens). They also bring up the possible trade rumors with DeBrincat as well as a possible Bertuzzi move. 
We still don't have a coach in Detroit and with Barry Trotz out of the question the boys are left just as confused as the rest of you. Will it be someone with no NHL experience or will it be someone he has known? Time will tell!

NO one is happier that the Avs are up 2-0 than Dustin, who hates the bolts with a passion. Game 2 was an absolute shellacking - 7 to zip. OUCH!!

All three of us have picked Colorado to win, but should we be worried that they woke up the beast?? The 2x defending champs are heading back home for 2 straight games. Could this be a toes series heading back to Denver? Some of us hope so ( not Dustin).

Episode 117

Tyler addressed the Tampa series right off the bat. The first team to make it to the Cup Finals for the 3rd straight year since the 80s. Love them or hate them, you have to respect them. 

Who has the edge in the finals? Tampa is a more well-rounded team, but that offensive star power that the Avs have might be too much for them to handle.  Regardless. This will be an incredible Final to watch. 

The fellas ended with discussing a lot of golf! Dustin and Connor got out to Battle Creek to play at Connor’s home track - Tyler missed a great round. The PGA finds themselves in hot water as more and more players resign and join the LIV. What is the next move for the PGA if all the stars leave?

Episode 116

Connor and Tyler break down the current series’ in the west and the east. Colorado is up 3-0 and one win away from punching their ticket to the Stanley Cup final for the first time since 2001. This also marks the first time a team has posted an impressive 11-2 start to the playoffs since the 2012 LA Kings. 

Dustin brought up a text that Tyler sent to the group regarding the Tampa Bay lightning. Dustin wanted Tyler to atone for this egregious remark, but on the contrary. Tyler replied and stuck to his guns. Part 2 of this discussion will be live when the Wing Sauce boys meet for golf next week at Connor’s country club. 

Mind you the Rangers are up 2-1 in the ECF and there has historically been a 93% rate of teams winning the CF when up 2-0.
