March 8th: International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day summons up my inner warrioress:
My voice gets stronger.I connect with ancestral pioneering spirits. My backbone lengthens.I stand taller, prouder, a defensive as much as offensive stance, perhaps….My heart hardens a bit too much.I consider women who have sacrificed, and those who still sacrifice.I think politically: Consider the first adverse action of the current administration in the severely Divided States of America as the Violence Against Women Act is killed. My head fills with memories of what it has meant to be a woman in my lifetime.Fear and anger rise as I consider what it will mean for my children and grandchildren….International Women’s Day is a day of celebration.
It is a day meant to celebrate the women who inspire, who have made headway towards equality in so many areas, and it is decidedly a day of looking squarely in the face of what still needs to be addressed, perhaps now more than ever before in his and her-story.
I adore the collective consciousness as women gather globally to be heard, and recognized, and felt at a socio-political level. The uprising of energies when women gather is unique feminine power brought not by bombs and missiles, but of voices of reason. Change happens. And it happens most efficiently when there is synergy.
There is much heart in events that bring women as one body of fluid feminine power.
