It seems winter is here for most of us in central and northern Wisconsin. What can we do now that we have a good base layer of snow and the temps are cold enough that it’s not really going anywhere? The quick answer is be patient. There are a few activities that you can start doing right away and others, you’re going to have to wait and give a little time before you can start and enjoy.

Tis the season and what better way to get things started than with a Christmas tree? Wisconsin is one of the nations top states when it comes to Christmas tree production. I talked with Greg Hann, the president of Wisconsin Christmas Tree Producers Association, about everything from what to look for when picking out a tree to the the different varieties grown in the state.

The shores of Lake Michigan are often overlooked as a vacation or site seeing destination. But don’t dismiss it, there are some great spots all along the coast for you to stop and enjoy the peace, calm and tranquility of Lake Michigan.

One of my favorite things to do in the state is to visit state parks. Rib Mountain State park is one of my favorites. The end of daylight savings time came with the first weekend in November and that means a shift in time. We’ve gone from driving to work in the dark and coming home in the light to the exact opposite.   It seems we’ve jumped right into the winter season with the cold and the early dark evenings. And that makes getting outdoors in the evening a challenge. That’s why I wanted to offer a few tips on helping you escape the indoors.

It’s Halloween time.  Time for spooky houses, scary stories and doing things that scare you.  But why only do something that scares you once a year?  Why not do something that pushes you out of your comfort zone more often than that?  I want to challenge you to find something that scares you a little bit, something that you might be a little afraid to do and do it.  Push yourself to try something new and you may find out that you really enjoy doing it.

Getting our kids outdoors anytime of year is so important. But the fall season offers some of the best family fun of the year. There are numerous things you can do that will fill your weekend with smiles, laughs and memories.

The fall season goes by pretty quickly. That's why now is the time for you to get out and see the colors before they're gone.  On this week's podcast, I talk about how time is running out on the fall color season.
