When God made man, He gave man the power and privilege of choice. With that privilege came the grave responsibility of living with the consequences of the choices we make.

Today’s episode reveals a choice made by the nation of Israel. Up until Samuel’s day, God has been the King of Israel!  However, as we discovered in our last podcast, the Israelites decided that they wanted a man to be chosen to rule them as their king

Choices are inseparably linked to consequences! The direction and destiny of our life is the result of the decisions we make. Our decisions determine our destiny.

Samuel had led wisely, prayed fervently, and served faithfully. Samuel was both a statesman as a judge and a saint as a priest. Samuel had prepared for this his entire life. But now the elders of Israel tell him they want him to resign and appoint a king to rule instead of a judge. Talk about rejection. How does Samuel handle rejection? In the middle of the night a voice called out, "Samuel,Samuel." Little Samuel jumped out of bed and ran to Eli and said, "Here I am, for you called me. " Eli said, I did not call you. Go back to bed. This happened two more times, and the third time Eli finally realized that it was the Lord who was calling to Samuel. Eli told Samuel that if the Lord called his name again he should answer saying, "Speak Lord, for your servant is listening." This beautiful story is loaded with applications to our lives.
