Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 19. I will then key in on verse 16 - He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of his ways will die. Friends, we should always be mindful that God see all that we do (and every word that we speak). She should live our lives with that in mind. I will begin today's podcast by reviewing the three points I introduced on yesterday's lesson (Episode #823 - if you did not get a chance to tune in to that podcast, I invite you to do so). I will then continue our study of the Gospel, according to Luke. Today we will be going over Chapter 14, verses 12-14. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. Disciples must have a special concern for the poor, maimed, lame, and blind, as Jesus does.

2. God will not overlook what His servants have done to carry out His love and mercy.

3. God will evaluate our work - whether good or bad - and reward us accordingly.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 18. I will then key in on verse 16. Verse 16 is a lesson that we can learn from today's lesson. We all have gifts. We are to use our gifts to give glory to God, and to exalt Him - not ourselves. I will begin today's podcast by reviewing the three points I introduced on Monday's podcast (Episode #821 - if you didn't get a chance to tune in to that episode, I invite you to do so). I will then continue our study of the Gospel, according to Luke. Today we will be going over the verse 11 verses of Chapter 14. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. Jesus would heal on the Sabbath Day.

2. When at a wedding reception, be aware of your surroundings.

3. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 17.  I will then introduce you to a fellow Charis Bible College student.  Rasheed Bryant is a first year student.  He will talk about his upbringing, how he began to understand the love of God while attending the funeral of his grandmother, and how he navigated life after he was saved.  He will then talk about meeting his wife, the process of wooing her and about their wedding day.  He then talks about the birth of his son and how having a child has really impacted his life.  He will then share his favorite scripture and how coming to Charis has changed their marriage.

And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. Friends, in our world today many of us do all we can to accumulate as much money as possible - but this verse warns us that wisdom is more important than having much money, and understanding is very important as well. On today's podcast I will continue our study of the Gospel of Luke. Today we will be completing Chapter 13. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. There are last who will be first, and there ared first who will be last.

2. Jesus predicted His resurrection in Jerusalem.

3. Sadly Israel was not willing to be gathered (and many people today are not willing to be gathered to Jesus as well).

Call to Action - Ask yourself this question - Do you have wisdom? Do you use wisdom in the decisions you make on a daily basis? If you answer no to these questions, may I suggest that you pray to God and ask Him for wisdom (James 1:5).

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 13.  I will then key in on verse 3 - (NLT) Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.  Wow, is this verse powerful?  Proverb 18:21 tells us that Death and Life are in the power of the tongue.  Friends, our words can either build people and bring forth life; or they can be detrimental, and bring forth Death.  Therefore, we always need to be mindful of the words that we speak.  Today, I give an example of how we can study the Bible by focusing on a particular topic.  Our topic today will be love.  I will pick out seven scripture verses that have the word "love" in them.  Five of the verses will be what we are to do, and two verses will be what not to do.  The verses are:  John 3:16; 1 Corintians, Chapter 13, verses 1-13; Matthew 22:36-40; John 15:12-13; and 2 Timothy 1:7.  The two of what not to do are:  1 John 2:15-17; and 1 Timothy 6:10.  CALL to ACTION - pay someone a compliment today or do a good deed for someone.  Suggested scripture reading: 1.  Reread each of the verses referenced above; 2. read the 11th chapter of the Book of Hebrews; 3. reread Proverb 13 in its entirety.

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today  we will be going over Proverb 12.  I will then key in on verse 22:  The Lord detest lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth. Friend, we all like to be around honest people.  It is not only important that we are honest, but that we select people who are honest themselves to be our close associates.  Friendships are built on trust, and if people that we seek advise from are not honest people, it will be hard to trust that we can believe what they tell us.  Today, we will continue our study on Exodus by going over two particular incidents from Chapter #18.  1.  Jethro pays Moses a visit (I will read verses 6-12).  Jethro announces to Moses that he will be paying him a visit (along with bringing Moses his wife and two sons as well).  They (Jethro and Moses) have become pretty good friends, and Moses welcomes his visit.  2.  Jethro has wise advise for Moses (I will read verses 13-23).  These verses actually are very important to our everyday lives.  Whether we talk about our military, our government, or whether we are talking about businesses, these verses tell us the importance of delegating authority to people who are under us.  Jethro tells Moses that he should delegate authority and put people in charge of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens.  What I really like about Jethro's advise is that he leaves it up to Moses as to whether he will heed his advise or not.  CALL to ACTION - very simple - I ask that you pay someone a compliment today (this could be anyone you meet on the street, in a story, at a gas station, or at your place of employment).  Look for occasions to pay someone a compliment, or to lend a helping hand whenever the situation presents itself.  Suggested scripture reading - 1.  Reread the 18th chapter of the Book of Exodus; 2.  Reread the 11th chapter of the Book of Hebrews; 3.  Reread today's proverb, Proverb 12, in its entirety.  

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 11.  I will then key in on verses 3 & 5:  3.  Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people; 5.  The godly are directed by honesty; the wicked fall beneath their load of sin.  Last week in Proverb 6:17, we learned that the Lord absolutely hates "a lying tongue."  We should be honest and tell the truth at all times.  We should never lie.  Many people think nothing of telling "little white lies," because they don't want to hurt people's feelings.  I suggest that you be honest with everyone at all times.  If we look at the second part of verse 5, it suggests that if you are in a habit of being dishonest (telling lies) that this will often carry over into your actions as well.  I give an example of you forgetting your pen at home and "borrowing" (stealing) a pen from the supply closet at your place of employment.  Please do not get in a habit of doing these things.  I will then continue our study in the Book of Exodus.  Today we will explore a bit of Chapter #17.  I will go over three things that I ask that you consider as we look at this chapter:  1.  The Lord provides water for the Israelites in the desert - (I will read verses 5-7 of Chapter #17). In these verses we will see that the Lord told Moses to strike the rock with his staff and that water would come gushing out.  Once again, the Lord provided for his people, the Israelites.  2.  Israel defeats the Amalekites (I will read verses 8-13).  In these verses we see that as long as Moses held up his staff, the Israelites would gain the upper hand against the Amalekites - but if he dropped his staff, the Amalekites would gain the advantage.  This is another example of how God provided a way for the Israelites to defeat one of their enemies.  3.  The Lord is my banner (I will read verses 14-16).  In these verses we will see one of the titles of God found in the banner.  God, once again, provided for the Israelites to defeat their enemy.  CALL to ACTION - pay a compliment to someone who looks like they need it, or do a good deed (once again to someone who looks like they could use a bit of help.  This can either by to a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker, a family member, or someone you don't even know.  Suggested scripture reading - 1.  Reread the entire 17th chapter of the Book of Exodus; 2.  Reread the 11th chapter of the Book of Hebrews; 3.  Reread in its entirety the 11th chapter of the Book of Proverbs.

Joshua recently graduated from Charis Bible College with Judy and my in May of 2023. Joshua is a repeat guest (having appeared previously on May 7, 2024 (Episode 547). On today's podcast Joshua will share the verse that spoke to him today from Proverb 10. He will then share the story of how he decided to stay in Tennessee two years ago instead of returning for 3rd year at Charis Bible College in Woodland Park, Tennessee. He will talk about how he has been growing in the Lord since his graduation. He will discuss his job now at Chick-Fil-A and share some nuggets of wisdom which I believe anyone can benefit from.
