Change Can Be Difficult – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1921 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.
Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Proverbs 16:16 says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Anatole France, and it is, "All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another."
    Change Can Be Difficult
As I have mentioned in previous days, most people are resistant to change, which makes it difficult. However, even when change is needed and desired, there is always a bit of sadness. For example, when one phase of life ends and we begin another, most of us will experience some melancholy feelings. These feelings are natural, and we should accept them for what they are. However, most of the time, our current phase of life is comfortable, and apprehension is experienced when we must leave that "comfort zone."
Nevertheless, change is required and often more exciting and rewarding than what we leave behind. When a season of life changes, a part of us must die so that new life can enter our world. After a period of sadness, rejoice in the new life you are beginning.
    John 12:23-26
Jesus replied, “Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity. Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me."

All Change Starts Small – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1920 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Margaret Wheatley, and it is, “All change, even very large and powerful change, begins when a few people start talking with one another about something they care about.”
    All Change Starts Small
All change and any progress will not even begin until those responsible for that change begin collaborating about something they are passionate about. When this happens, though, a small but passionate group of people can take action that could change lives and even impact the world. So never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. In fact, it is the only thing that ever has.
The Bible tells us that faith as small as the tiniest seed has the capacity to move mountains and change the world for God. So if you want to change lives, change towns, or change the world, start with a small group of people that have the same passion and make it happen.
    Matthew 17:20
“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps.
Today’s quote is from Charles Kingsley, and it is, “All but God is changing day by day.”
    All But God Changes
Very few people I know enjoy changes in any area of life. I, for one, adapt to change quickly, but as I mature and age, I find that I enjoy routine more and more. Even if the situation is not ideal, most people would rather stay in their comfort zone of mediocrity than enter the unknown, which may be much better.
King Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 1:10, "Sometimes, people say, 'Here is something new!' But actually, it is old; nothing is ever truly new." While this is true in that people go through the same cycles throughout their lives and throughout history, our individual circumstances are constantly in a state of flux. Our situations constantly change which brings anxiety and discomfort to our lives.
As imagers of God, change can be good if we are changing to become more like that perfect imager, which is Jesus Christ. We can then take comfort that although our lives change, we serve an unchanging God. In that, we can have peace in the midst of storms. We can have joy amid uncertainty.
    James 1:16-18
So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters.  Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.

Today’s quote is from Charles Caleb Colton, and it is, "All adverse and depressing influences can be overcome, not by fighting, but by rising above them."
    Rise Above
My basic nature is positive, and I tend to reframe any negative situation in a positive light. But even I, at times, struggle with adverse, depressing, and negative situations. When this happens, it is all too easy to allow it to drag us down with it, but that will not help or resolve the issue. Therefore, we don’t need to fight with those who are negative.
Instead, we should rise above the fray and realize that we can do and be better regardless of the situation. As Christ-followers, we should have joy in reflecting on our abundant life. Not everything will be pleasant or without struggle, but there is so much to be thankful for. So instead of being drug down by those who are adverse, rise above, and stand tall. Reframe your situation with an eternal perspective. Then even the difficult days will have a ray of paradise in them.
    Proverbs 13:9
The life of the godly is full of light and joy, but the light of the wicked will be snuffed out.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1917 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Napoleon Hill, and it is, “All achievements, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea.”
    Begin With an Idea
Before we can accomplish anything in life, we must first have an idea and then be convinced that it is possible. Of course, ideas themselves will not accomplish anything unless action is taken, but the idea should come before the action. Unfortunately, many fail to take time for solitude where they can pause, reflect, think, and brainstorm so that ideas begin to appear and germinate.
Once the ideas are formulated, they become like a packet of yeast. The yeast by itself will do nothing, but soaking it in a bit of warm water will allow the yeast to be activated. Then once the yeast is mixed with flour and other ingredients in an environment where there is a little heat applied, it will force the entire mixture to grow.
That tiny idea, represented in this analogy as “a small yeast packet,” will cause the mixture to double, triple, or even quadruple in size. Once that idea has entered into a plan of execution, that is, “ingredients,” it can be placed into an environment where it will be fully baked, just like a loaf of homemade bread. I can taste it now, and it is delicious. So dream, come up with ideas, mix them with a plan, and bake them to completion. The results will be your achievements and wealth.
    Matthew 13:33
Jesus also used this illustration: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”

We are on Day 1916 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Barry Wishner, and it is, "Aim so high you’ll never be bored."
    Aim High
While children will frequently verbally declare that they are bored, I find that many adults live a life of boredom. Boredom is a state of mind. No one is forced to be bored; boredom is a choice. There is so much in life that we can experience, and it does not take financial resources to live a life fully.
Taking a walk in nature, exercising, reading a good book from a library, laying out under the stars, watching children play, playing games yourself, working on a puzzle, woodworking, quilting, cross-stitching, music, and the list could go on and on. In addition, you can volunteer, help those less fortunate, visit the elderly, or do any activity that gets you out of your head and puts your efforts into helping others.
The higher your aim, the less possibility of you being bored. There is no excuse for boredom. Do whatever you can to benefit and enhance the lives of others, and you will find your life is whole and prosperous.
    Proverbs 11:25
The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

Right to Be Wrong – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1915 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from David M. Burns, and it is, "Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life."
    Right to Be Wrong
We all desire to succeed, but success never comes through being perfect. I would say the opposite is true. Your success comes from making mistakes, learning, and trying again with additional knowledge and insight. You still won’t be perfect, but with each reiteration of the process, you become a little more excellent.
The steps to success are, try, fail, learn, try, fail, and learn as many times as necessary until you reach the finish line. Sometimes success comes quickly; other times it takes years, decades, or even a lifetime to achieve the success desired. Even when you reach success, you will not do so perfectly, but with persistence and determination, you will succeed. Never give up your right to be wrong, and in doing so, you will learn the lessons needed so that success will eventually come.
    Job 22:27-30
You will pray to him, and he will hear you,
and you will fulfill your vows to him.
You will succeed in whatever you choose to do,
and light will shine on the road ahead of you.
If people are in trouble and you say, ‘Help them,’
    God will save them.
     Even sinners will be rescued;
they will be rescued because your hands are pure.

Wrinkles in the Soul – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1914 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Douglas Mac Arthur, and it is, “Age wrinkles the body. Quitting wrinkles the soul.”
    Wrinkles in the Soul
Chronological age is counted in years since your birth and is usually accompanied by graying of the hair and wrinkles in the face and body. Although this process can be slowed somewhat by proper exercise, nutrition, and sleep, the signs of physical aging will happen to everyone.
Another type of aging results in wrinkles in your soul. The soul in that inner person who truly makes you who you are. There is no reason to accumulate wrinkles in the soul. Soul wrinkles result when you give up and quit in any number of areas of life. To remain young and prevent soul wrinkles, you must continually push yourself to keep trying and pursue what you love even when others give up.
Taking care of yourself physically is important, but taking care of yourself spiritually is a requirement to stay young and vibrant internally. Stretch yourself to learn new things. Restore your soul by meditating on God’s precepts found in His Word. Gain wisdom through life experiences and maintain an attitude of gratitude and joy in all areas of life. Maintain the innocence and wonder of childhood, and you will never have wrinkles in your soul.
    Isaiah 38:16
Lord, your discipline is good, for it leads to life and health. You restore my health and allow me to live!

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1913 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Jeanne Moreau, and it is, "Age does not protect you from love, but love to some extent, protects you from age."
    Love Protects

Love knows no age limits. You can be an infant and instinctively have love for your parents. However, children, adolescents, teenagers, and adults all have the capacity to love. Love continues until the day we die.
There have been scientific studies that, at least to a certain extent, the more you are loved and have love for others, the longer you are projected to live. It has been said that love makes the world go around. Love is what drives us to be and do better. It is also God’s love for us that fashioned a plan to send His Son to die in our place so that we will have everlasting life. Let us strive to have the love that God has for us.
    I Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud, or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1912 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from David Jeremiah, and it is, “Against the backdrop of people who avoid work, cut corners, and do half-hearted jobs, a diligent person stands out. Practicing diligence is an excellent way to stand out for Christ at home, in the workplace, and even at church. So today, complete each one of your tasks, however big or small, with diligence.”
    A Diligent Person
As Christ-followers, we are commanded to work as if we were working for the Lord, not for other humans. When we practice this, we will be diligent and persistent in everything. This lifestyle is just one of many ways to share our faith by doing more than what is expected and doing it skillfully. This concept applies to our work, church, and even more importantly, home with family. It should not matter if our tasks are great or small; we should be diligent and persistent in everything. Then the love of God will show through our lives to everyone with whom we come in contact.
    Romans 12:10-12
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.
