The Foundation of Love – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1931 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.
Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Proverbs 16:16 says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Ella Wheeler Wilcox, and it is, “All love that has not friendship for its base, is like a mansion built upon the sand.”
    The Foundation of Love
Love must have the underlying foundation of friendship to thrive and prosper. So is it through that enduring bond of friendship that becomes a solid rock on which love must be built. While the passion associated with love may ebb and flow at times, when love is built on that base of friendship, it is like a house built on a solid foundation of rock that allows the love to persevere.
Although we will continually be buffeted by the storms of life, which will create strain on a love relationship, it will not destroy that love when the solid foundation is friendship. Therefore, it is wise to foster friendship first, then allow the love to grow from that initial foundation.
    Matthew 7:24-27
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.

Life Demands Struggle – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1930 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Pope Paul VI, and it is, "All life demands struggle. Those who have everything given to them become lazy, selfish, and insensitive to the real values of life. The very striving and hard work that we so constantly try to avoid is the major building block in the person we are today."
    Life Demands Struggle

While overall, I have a very positive outlook and attitude toward life. I will generally reframe most hostile situations and spin them positively. Despite this, I do realize that life demands struggle. Struggle produces strength and is the building block for a well-balanced and stable life.
You may wonder how I can maintain a positive outlook even in a battle. It is because of my faith in a Holy God who is the maker of heaven and earth. He ultimately controls everything that happens and knows what is best for us individually. The peace and joy that I experience amid storms are real, grounded in the faith that God will strengthen and provide what I need for every situation.
Struggles are required to refine and mature us. Those who are overly protected or given too much in life will never gain the strength needed to live a rich and satisfying life, which has little to do with possessions we may or may not have. Stand strong in the storms of life, and keep your life full of joy and your thoughts positive.
    2 Corinthians 9:6-15
Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say,
“They share freely and give generously to the poor.
Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
For God is the one who provides seed...

Labor That Has Dignity and Importance – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1929 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Proverbs 16:16 says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" Ifyou apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and it is, “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance, and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”
Labor That Has Dignity and Importance
There is no such thing as a meaningless job. If the work you do to earn a living is not illegal or immoral, it brings value to society. Therefore, one job should not be looked on as more important or unique because for society to function well and efficiently, everyone has to do their job well.
If the garbage worker or the sewer plant manager fails to do their job well, we can have a real mess in our lives. Even more so than many rich and famous persons such as movie stars or entertainers of all sorts. Some jobs or positions may pay more due to the training required, or the value society places on them, like professional sports players, but that in no way implies that those jobs are valuable to the community or you personally.
As Christ-followers, we are valuable in God’s eyes regardless of our position. We work to make a living to provide for ourselves but we also fulfill our greater calling, which is to build God’s kingdom on earth. Therefore, work hard, work well, and work to bring honor and glory to God.
    Colossians 3:23
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Criticize in Private – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1928 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Zig Ziglar, and it is,  "All instructive or critical feedback must be given in private."
    Criticize in Private
There are times when we need to offer constructive criticism or instruction that will help others improve and prosper. However, you should never confront or criticize a person in public; it must be done in private or with one or two additional close associates. The purpose of all such actions is to assist a person in improving or correcting some action or attitude that is not appropriate. When required, it should be handled in a spirit of humility and love and never in a manner that is destructive to that individual.
On the opposite side of that coin, when you have the opportunity to present praise and accolades, it should be done in a public setting if possible. Praise and recognition are best handled, so the person receiving it will also have the honor of their peers. In every situation, as much as possible, always build up another, never tear them down.
    2 Timothy 4:1-2
I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom: Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Bob Smith, and it is, “All I know is that I am a product of God, and all I can do is the best I can to thank Him and honor Him and try to grow in Him, step by step.”
Grow In Him Step By Step
Although there is nearly an unlimited amount of information that we can learn and absorb, none of it is as important as knowing that we are God’s creation, made in His image. If you know and understand this fact, it is more valuable than all the knowledge in the world.
Once you grasp that you are indeed a child of the King, then you will know and understand how important it is to do your best. We can thank and honor Him on our path to doing our best. Along the way, we are to continually grow in the image of our creator, step by step. So, as an imager of God, a Christ-follower, and a child of the King, let us not be static in our growth, but each day become more like that perfect imager, Jesus Christ.
    2 Peter 1:2-11
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.
The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in...

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1926 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Emerson, and it is, "All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen."
    Trust the Creator
The world around us, from the tiniest microbe to the vastness of the universe, indeed all of the creation points us to God, the creator of all. There is so much visible evidence of God through His design that it is hard for me to grasp that there are those who don’t believe and even deny our great creators. Yet, there is much still that we don’t understand or comprehend in life. So, when we run up against those situations when our faith is lacking and we have questions, we need to refer back to what we can see and understand.
    Psalm 19:1-4
The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
    The skies display his craftsmanship.
    Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
    They speak without a sound or word;
    their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
and their words to all the world.
    Romans 1:19-20
They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1925 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Reid Hoffman, and it is, "All humans are entrepreneurs not because they should start companies but because the will to create is encoded in human DNA."
    Encoded Creativity
I have been an entrepreneur all of my life, which is especially evident as an adult. Indeed, not everyone is destined to be an entrepreneur, and most people don’t desire to be one. Very few that do attempt to be are a success. For me, it has been a drive and passion and certainly part of my DNA.
Regardless of whether that is true for you since we are created as imagers of God, the great creator, every person is creative in some area of life. It is part of the DNA that God has embedded within each person. Some people express their creativity through art, raising a family, excelling in large corporations, welding, plumbing, ministering, teaching, starting a business, or dozens of other areas.
God has placed each of us in a unique place in life to build His kingdom and bring honor and glory to His name. Yes, creativity is engrained in each. It is part of the DNA the creator of all has passed on to each of us, His children.
    John 1:1-5
In the beginning, the Word already existed.
    The Word was with God,
    and the Word was God.
He existed in the beginning with God.
    God created everything through him,
and nothing was created except through him.
The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and his life brought light to everyone.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. Today’s quote is from William Bradford, and it is, “All great and honorable actions are accompanied with great difficulties.”
    Great Difficulties
We all think that we would like and enjoy a life of ease, but that is not what life is made of. When you accomplish great and honorable deeds and actions, the road will be strewn with obstacles, hardship, and difficulties. That is not to say we can’t be joyful even amid difficulties. On the contrary, the Bible encourages us, and even commands us, to be joyful in all situations.
Joy is having peace in your heart and life, even when the storms of chaos are pummeling you from all sides. The stronger the storms, the more peaceful you will be once the storms are over. If God is indeed guiding and directing our lives, he knows and understands all we go through. Therefore, he will also provide us with the peace needed to end the journey. It is up to us to carry on until our life journey is complete.
    John 16:33
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from David J. Schwartz, and it is, "All great achievements require time."
    Great Achievements
We live in a world that desires instant everything. So we have fast food, minute rice, instant oatmeal, jiffy lube, fast pass, quick pain relief, and unlimited get-rich-quick schemes. It is a society of instant gratification without the willingness to take responsibility for our actions. This goes against God’s laws of planting and harvesting.
All worthwhile achievements in our life require time and hard work. Persistence and perseverance are the core to the successes that will bring lasting results. Instead of looking for ways to circumvent the process, let us put our hand on the plow and continue to push forward until the task is complete. Let us not seek shortcuts, but the maturity and wisdom that comes from dedicating ourselves to utilize our God-given talents and abilities to finish the course and bring honor and glory to His name.
    Luke 9:62
But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1922 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Jonathan Edwards, and it is, “All earthly delights are but streams. But God is the ocean.”
    Earthly Delights
God has blessed us as His imagers with many wonderful delights while we continue building His kingdom on earth. But unfortunately, we become so enamored with our earthly riches and the beauty we have all around us that we forget that they are just a little foretaste of the divine glory that God has stored up for us.
Of course, we should enjoy all the riches and blessings we have now, but we should never become so consumed with them that we miss the blessing from heaven that God will pour out to us if we remain faithful to His calling. What God has given us now is just a bubbling brook compared to the ocean of goodness and blessing we will receive when we join him in glory.
    1 Corinthians 2:6-12
Yet when I am among mature believers, I do speak with words of wisdom, but not the kind of wisdom that belongs to this world or to the rulers of this world, who are soon forgotten.  No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
    and no mind has imagined
    what God has prepared
    for those who love him.”
But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.
