    Public Speaking – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1941 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.
Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Proverbs 16:16 says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Roger Love, and it is, "All speaking is public speaking, whether it’s to one person or a thousand."
    Public Speaking
It has been said that many people are more afraid of speaking in public than death itself. When you think about it, though, we all speak in public. The only difference is the number of people we are speaking to.
Although I get a little nervous when speaking in public, especially if it is a very large group, I find it easier to speak before an entire room full of people than to start a conversation one-on-one. Although most people probably don’t realize it, I am a shy person. It is challenging to be in a situation where I am expected to start or carry on a conversation with people I don’t know very well. I have to force myself outside of my comfort zone when needed because I understand that it may be an opportunity to meet someone’s needs and build God’s kingdom.
This past year, I have had the privilege to be the primary teaching pastor at our small local church, providing many opportunities to learn God’s Word and hone my public speaking craft. As with anything you attempt in life, it takes practice, perseverance, and a desire to become all God intended for you. So whether you have to speak to two, two hundred, or two thousand people, do it all for the glory of God. He will give you the grace and strength to do so.
    Romans 8:14-17
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

Outside the Comfort Zone – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1940 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Michael Bobak, and it is, “All progress takes place outside the comfort zone.”
    Outside the Comfort Zone
Any time we take on a challenge or make progress, it will cause us some discomfort or anxiety. The more significant the progress, the less comfortable we will be. Leaving their comfort zone will be a challenge for someone who is risk-averse, but little progress will be made unless you leave that comfort zone.
This statement may sound a bit complex, but if you don’t leave your comfort zone and lack progress, eventually, that situation will cause more discomfort in your life than moving forward now, even if it does cause you some pain now. You must plant seeds of discomfort today so that you will reap a harvest of progress later on.
As the old saying goes, pay me now, or pay me later. Either way, you will still have to pay. The payment required for lack of progress will be much greater than small investments over time outside your comfort zone today. If you allow God to direct your steps, he will lead you through your path.
    Psalm 37:23-24
The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble, they will never fall,
for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1939 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Harry Millner, and it is, “All progress occurs because people dare to be different.”
    Dare to Be Different
Throughout our teen years and even into adulthood, en masse, we attempt to be different, but most of the time, we all end up the same because we all want to be accepted by our peers. It takes a truly confident person to dare to be different without being weird or offensive. God has created us uniquely different from anyone else with our unique talents and abilities. Yet, we will have commonalities because we are created to be God’s imagers.
Still, we do a disservice to ourselves and our community if we become lemmings because we are insecure and desire to fit in instead of being outstanding. If you desire to make the most progress possible so that you can have the most significant potential impact on your community and all eternity, then dare to be different. Dare to shine like the sun for God’s honor and glory.
    Ephesians 2:10
"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

    Personal Breakthroughs – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1938 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Anthony Robbins, and it is, "All personal breakthroughs begin with a change in beliefs."
    Personal Breakthroughs
As the familiar saying goes, insanity is trying the same thing repeatedly while expecting different results. If you desire breakthroughs in any area of life, you must change what you are currently doing. That begins with a change in beliefs coupled with a change of mindset. You must change your perspective and think differently before you will act differently and obtain different results.
So much of our life is us playing mind games. We desire to be more, have more, and do more, but we somehow convince ourselves that we don’t have to invest our time and resources to make that change. Change will happen no matter what, so if you desire better results, you must choose what changes will occur in your life, instead of letting life just happen to you.
Changing your beliefs will result in a changed mindset. A changed mindset will lead to personal breakthroughs. It sounds simple, but you have to determine that you will have the persistence and patience to achieve what you desire. It is your choice.
    Galatians 6:8-10
Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1937 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Zig Ziglar, and it is, "All people want someone they can look up to, without that person looking down on them."
    Don’t Look Down on Others
Within our created nature, we desire to look up to people in positions of authority or garner our respect in some manner. We also desire to be loved and respected by others, even those we look up to. Since we are created to be God’s imagers and take on the character traits of that perfect imager, Jesus Christ, we should copy what has been written about Him in God’s Word. Jesus never looked down on others, even those who were the lowest in their societal rankings.
On the contrary, Jesus often condemned those in positions of authority and power for abusing their positions and thinking more highly of themselves than they did of others, including God. Yes, it is ok to look up to and respect others, but as you have an opportunity to be loved and respected, make sure you show that same love and respect from those who may have a lower standing in society.
    Philippians 2:3-11
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
    Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
    as something to cling to.
    Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,
he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Life Is a Celebration – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1936 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from St. Clement of Alexandria, and it is, “All our life is a celebration for us; we are convinced that God is always everywhere. So we sing while we work...we pray while carrying out all life’s other occupations.”
    Life Is a Celebration
As Christ-followers, we have been granted not only everlasting life but life eternal. This fact alone should drive us to live in celebration each day. In John 10:10, Jesus said, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” Therefore, we should celebrate life every day. We should sing while we work and go about our activities. We should be in a spirit of prayer in everything that we do. Our lives should be filled with joy so everyone who observes us can see that we are filled with God’s Spirit.
I understand that some days are complicated, and we will run into trying times, but even when we do, let us keep our eyes on Jesus as we are told in Hebrews 12:1-4, "Therefore, since such a huge crowd of witnesses surrounds us to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin."

    Grow Continuously – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1935 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Les Brown, and it is, "All of us need to grow continuously in our lives."
    Grow Continuously
As with everything in nature, we are either in a state of growth or decay. No one stays static for any length of time. Growth must be fostered in all areas of our lives, but not necessarily at the same growth rate. During the different seasons of life, we may focus more on specific areas such as spiritual, family, physical, mental, social, financial, and career. Still, all must experience some level of continuous growth, or our lives will be like a flat tire, making us ride through life very rough.
After a period of fast growth in one area, there will need to be a time for the maturation of that growth. Let me use the analogy of a tree. During the springtime, when the sap flows through the tree trunk to feed the limbs and leaves, the tree will add a lot of new wood fibers. During the remainder of that year, the fibers will take on a new phase and harden into solid wood. We need both persistence to move forward and patience to allow the recent growth in our lives to mature.
You must take on the mindset of a farmer who knows and understands that the crop will not be ready to harvest until many steps are completed. The ground is plowed, the seeds are planted, if the seeds are watered and cared for, the plants will grow, and only after a long period of growth will the harvest results be available. Keep on growing throughout your life until the great harvest at the end of your days is completed.
    James 5:7-8
Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.

The Great Leaders – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1934 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from John Kenneth Galbraith, and it is, “All of the great leaders have had one characteristic in common: the willingness to confront the significant anxiety of their people.”
    The Great Leaders
Nearly all people have anxiety about something in life. It is up to the great leader to know and understand those they lead so they will confront the fear and stress that will impact their ability to lead. A great leader will have empathy for those they lead. They will know them well enough to understand them and what may impact their performance. While a mild amount of stress may be helpful, if the stress levels increase too much, it will certainly negatively affect the outcome.
Each person you lead will have a different level of stress which causes anxiety. You must know your team well enough to know what that level is for each person. It is always important to also understand that those stress levels may vary daily. Finally, you must establish an exceptionally close bond with those you lead to be effective and extraordinary. Become a great leader so that you can assist your team to stretch and grow to be all that God designed them to be. Lead well!
    1 Peter 5:6-11
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.
In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.  All power to him forever! Amen.

Everyone Dreams, But Not Equally – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1933 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from T.E. Lawrence, and it is, “All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible.”
    Everyone Dreams, But Not Equally
Everyone dreams at night, but if you are like me, you can’t remember much of the dream after waking up. Everyone also dreams during the day. Some people daydream and think about things they would like to do or accomplish but never take action on those dreams.
Then some have dreams, but small and large, and they wake up from their daytime stupor and take the necessary action to turn those dreams into reality. This second group is the dangerous people because they have their eyes wide open to see what is possible with persistence and perseverance. They refuse to go back to their sleep state until their dreams are reality. They understand that we must work during the day because night comes to all of us when we will work no more. These are also the people who understand the farmer’s proverb that you must make hay while the sun is shining. So let us use our God-given talents and abilities to make hay.
John 10:4 says, "As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work."

Feelings Manifest In Reality – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1932 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Stuart Wilde, and it is, "All humankind’s inner feelings eventually manifest themselves as an outer reality."
    Feelings Manifest In Reality
We can hide our inner feelings for a while and when in specific settings, but eventually, our inner feelings will manifest in outer reality. For example, revealing our inner feelings may surface when we are around certain people or under the influence of drugs or alcohol when our inhibitions are relaxed.
In addition, our inner thoughts and feelings can accurately represent our thought process and mindset revealed when we are unmasked from the façade we hid behind daily. As the saying goes, how a person thinks in their heart, they indeed are.
I have also seen this revealed in a person who is afflicted with dementia or Alzheimer's. Their hidden personality starts to bubble to the surface in how they respond to and interact with family members and friends. Some of these people flow with kindness and love, while others with anger and frustration. The encouraging word here is that if you are on the negative trajectory, you can choose to reverse course and head the other direction today.
In that way, when your inhibitions are lowered through substances or age, your personality and feelings will pour out joy and love. The primary way this can come to fruition is by immersing yourself in God’s Word each day and allowing yourself to be changed from the inside out.
    2 Corinthians 5:17
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
    Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
