    God's Glory – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1761 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.
Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Proverbs 16:16 says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from C. S. Lewis, and it is, “A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.”
    God’s Glory
Is it any wonder why C. S. Lewis is one of the favorite and most respected authors of all time? His allegorical books The Chronicles of Narnia have been read for many generations and were made into popular movies. His quote for today is not only allegorical; it is a profound truth.
There is nothing that humans can do or say that diminishes God’s glory one iota. Just because a person refuses to acknowledge and worship God does not change God, it only shows the ignorance of that person. God’s glory cannot be diminished by humans. We are His creation, and imagers, so the only thing that a person should and can do is show forth God’s glorious image.
A crazy person may say there is no sun, but that does not dim its brilliance and majesty or change the fact that the sun is evident to all. Similarly, just because a person says there is no God, or does not acknowledge that God is real, does not minimize His greatness. God’s glory is evident to all.
    Romans 14:11-12
    For the Scriptures say,
“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bend to me,
and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’”
Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God.

Not a Failure – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1760 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from John Burroughs, and it is, “A man can fail many times, but he isn't a failure until he begins to blame others for his failures.”
    Not a Failure
Failure is not a problem unless you refuse to take responsibility and blame other people or circumstances for your failure. Yes, we will fail, none of us is perfect, and we cannot perform perfectly every time. The key is to prepare yourself to minimize the impact of failures and quickly recover so you can begin again, but this time with the additional wisdom learned through that failure.
Unfortunately, it is usually our pride that causes us to view failures as something negative. Although none of us like to fail, it will not be nearly as devastating if you realize that failure is a part of life in any worthwhile endeavor. When you know that failure is an integral part of success, you won’t be devastated when it happens, but understand that it is part of the lessons you learn as a pupil of the schoolmaster called life.  So move ahead boldly and anticipate failures and pitfalls. Be ready to pivot and begin again. Above all else, God will continue to direct and guide you, even though those difficult paths of life.
    Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
    Philippians 1:6
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Do What You Can – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1759 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Albert Schweitzer, and it is, “A man can do only what he can do. But if he does that each day he can sleep at night and do it again the next day.”
    Do What You Can
In today’s fast-paced, driven society, we are pressured to do more each day. However, if we don’t pause and reflect once in a while, we can become frustrated and feel defeated. We need to utilize our God-given talents and abilities to do our best, but not more than we are capable. We can do what we can do.
The key is to continue consistently and persistently to repeat what we can do each day, day after day, for that season of life. If we do our part, we can lay our heads on the pillow at the end of each day, knowing that we have done our best for that day. Then, when we rise the following day, we can do it again that day. As we repeat this process, we will find out what we have done is enough.
    2 Timothy 2:15
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.

Believe In Yourself – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1758 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Vince Lombardi, and it is, "A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive, and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done."
    Believe In Yourself
Vince Lombardi, one of the greatest coaches, knew what it took to be a champion. Nearly all our limitations are self-imposed. God created us as masterpieces to fulfill our destinies as His imagers. To image God is to project through us His greatness to a world that so desperately needs Him. If we view ourselves as God views us, we will have the courage, determination, dedication, competitive drive, and the willingness to sacrifice the little temporal things of life and pay the price for that which is eternal.
So why do we settle for being less than what designed us to be? We settle when we choose to have what we desire now, for what we want most. Don’t allow short-term shiny objects to distract you from your potential in life. You can reach your potential if you are willing to pay the price now for huge returns at a future date. Don’t give in. Don’t give up. Keep moving forward.
    Hosea 10:12
I said, "Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you."

Life Is Like a Mirror – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1757 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Ken Keyes, and it is, “A loving person lives in a loving world. A hostile person lives in a hostile world. Everyone you meet is your mirror.”
    Life Is Like a Mirror
What is your outlook of the world and those with whom you are associated? It is a fact that how we view life is mainly reflective of our attitude and outlook. So, for example, if we see the world as getting increasingly worse and going to hell in a handbasket, our perspective of life will be filtered through those lenses.  In that case, our world will seem pretty dismal. But, on the other hand, if our worldview considers the world, even with its problems, as becoming increasingly better through communication and technology, then our perspective of the future will be much brighter.
Therefore, one thing we can rely on, regardless of our worldview, is specific facts that point to the truth. You may want to consider some facts, especially if you struggle and see the world as hostile. First, in all of recorded human history, there are far fewer wars and conflicts. Second, our life spans are increasing exponentially. Third, medical breakthroughs allow us to live longer and with a much better quality of life. Fourth, technology is allowing living and working conditions to be much better and more manageable. Finally, the ability to communicate with family and friends is increasingly more accessible and less expensive. These examples are just scratching the surface of what we will see in the next 20-50 years, and the breakthroughs are increasing exponentially also.
So if your worldview is one of hostility, you need to expand your horizons to see all the blessings we have in our lives today, especially compared to ages past. What is in our hearts and minds will overflow into our lives. Everyone we meet is a mirror of our hearts and mind.
    Hosea 10:12
I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness,
and you will harvest a crop of love.
Plow up the hard ground of your hearts,
for now is the time to seek the Lord,

Not Luck at All – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1756 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Howard Schultz, and it is, "A lot of what we ascribe to luck is not luck at all. It’s seizing the day and accepting responsibility for your future."
    Not Luck at All
For the most part, life is not made up of good luck or bad luck. Yes, there are rare occasions when a person is in the right place at the right time, but it happens much less than you would imagine. In most situations, the reason the timing and opportunity coincide is that a person has prepared himself, sometimes for years, to be ready when an opportunity does show itself.
There is a relatively well-known saying that "Most people miss opportunity because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." It is about preparing for opportunity, and when it arrives, it is about being willing to take the risk, seize the day, and accept responsibility for your future.  Instead of luck, it is being prepared for setbacks and obstacles that will come your way and pivoting to take advantage of them. You might say, luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity
    2 Corinthians 9:8-11
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 9 As the Scriptures say,
“They share freely and give generously to the poor.
Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.
Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.

Inspired to Excel – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1755 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Zig Ziglar, and it is, “A lot of people have gone further than they thought they could because someone else thought they could.”
    Inspired to Excel
Do you have someone who has inspired you to move outside of your comfort zone and excel to a level you never thought you could achieve?  Most people who succeed in any area of life would probably indicate that this is the case. I know in my life, my parents played a role in this process, along with hours and hours of listening to tapes of individuals who were successful and provided me with the encouragement to pursue goals beyond what I would have otherwise.
You can be inspired to excel if you are willing to learn from the sages who have already proven that they are successful. Then, you will need to turn that inspiration into action. When you take action, you will begin to see achievements. As you see achievements, you will need to gain perseverance when the trials of life become difficult, and they will. That perseverance will generate long-term endurance and strength to ignore the naysayers so that you can continue on in the face of obstacles, setbacks, and even failures. So take the encouragement from others and allow it to inspire you to excel beyond anything you could have dreamed.
    Hebrews 12:1-4
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.

Having a Backbone – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1754 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Robert Kiyosaki, and it is, “A lot of people are afraid to tell the truth, to say no. That’s where toughness comes into play. Toughness is not being a bully. It’s having backbone.”
    Having a Backbone
It is okay to be gentle and meek, which is not the same as being weak. It is certainly okay to always tell the truth and when you need to say no to requests or demands. However, when you stand on your principles, focus, and priorities, you may have to say no to what is good so that you can say yes to what is best. Remember that when you choose no, it automatically opens up the possibility of saying yes to something even more incredible.
When you have to say no to something that may compromise your ethics and integrity, you are not mean to the other person; you are standing for what you deem the truth and what is best for you. You must make choices based on God’s will for you and what is best for yourself and your family. That is not shunning others or being a bully; you have a backbone and stand up for your principles. Stand strong.
    James 1:22-25
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.  For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1753 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
If you apply the words you hear today, over time it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget
Today’s quote is from Elbert Hubbard, and it is, "A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success."
    More Persistence And Effort
There is a fine silk thread between success and failure. Just a little more persistence and effort may exponentially change an outcome and turn what seems to be a hopeless failure into glorious victory.
Let me give you an example, although not a perfect analogy of the earnings paid out in the Kentucky Derby for 2021.  The first-place winner takes home $1.86 million, the second place is $600,000, the third place is $300,000, and the fourth-place earnings are $150,000.  There was only a fraction of a second between all four top-place winners.  Just that little more persistence and effort between the first and fourth place winners was a difference of over $1.7 million.
So it is with many of our pursuits in life. If we are willing to work just a little harder, be a little more persistent, pour in a little more effort, it will have an exponential difference in the results of whatever we are pursuing. Don’t quit. Don’t give up. Keep on keeping on.
We are imagers of Christ who have been given incredible talents, abilities, and skills. We need to use them for God’s glory and show others the path to God’s kingdom.
    2 Peter 1:3-11
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.  And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness,  and godliness with brotherly...

Knowledge That Acts – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1752 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Kahlil Gibran, and it is, “A little knowledge that acts is worth infinitely more than much knowledge that is idle.”
    Knowledge That Acts
In our current message series at church, we are studying the letter from James, which is closely related to this quote. Our theme for the series is “Faith Is Work in Action.” If we have knowledge that we should act on and do not take action, our knowledge is worthless. We are not to be idle in our lives but use the wisdom and knowledge provided by God to take action towards building His kingdom.
God does not expect us just to accumulate knowledge but to assist those who are in need when we can help. However, as Christ-followers and citizens of God’s kingdom, we have responsibilities to use the little knowledge we have and multiply it through our actions. That is true value. Knowledge with no action is idleness, and there is no value in idleness. In the letter of James, he focuses on this concept, except he uses the word faith instead of knowledge. In this situation, they are indeed similar.
    James 2:14-20
What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?  Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?
So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”
You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you...
