    True Character – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1771 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.
Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Proverbs 16:16 says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Ralph W. Sockman, and it is, "A man has no more character than he can command in a time of crisis."
    True Character
It becomes very evident what a person's true character is when they go through challenging times, trials, and tribulations. All of us can be pleasant and of good nature when all is well with us, our families, work, and finances. The test is to impact even one of those areas of life, and then you start to see the veneer crumble to expose what is contained beneath it.
When we are in the midst of a crisis, we begin to see our true selves. How do you act and react when the pressure is on and all is not well? Our lives must be built on the foundation of God’s Word, so when the storms come raging through our lives, we will stand firm. When we can command ourselves, with God’s strength and peace, during those storms, then our true character is revealed.
    Matthew 7:24-27
“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Don't Lose Your Innocence – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1770 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Henry David Thoreau, and it is, “A man had better starve at once than lose his innocence in the process of getting his bread.”
    Don’t Lose Your Innocence
Doing what is right and living a life of integrity is much more important than any riches or resources we can possibly obtain. Therefore, it is much better to do without, even if it is painful, than to compromise your integrity by going against God’s precepts found in His Word. There are few, if any, material things in life worth compromising your reputation. It may require that you step out in faith, knowing that it is God’s will, even if you need to sacrifice greatly, that He will provide. We should never do wrong, even if it seems that the results would be positive. The ends do not justify the means. Do what is right always, and long-term, you will live a rich and satisfying life.
    Titus 2:11-13
For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.  And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God,  while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.

Full Of Courage – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1769 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Cicero, and it is, “A man full of courage is also full of faith.”
    Full Of Courage
Since I have been a Christ-follower since early in life, it is difficult to imagine how a person without a strong faith in God could also be a courageous person. Therefore, although I understand that I may be more confident and courageous than most people I meet, my confidence and courage are rooted in my faith that God is the creator of all things seen and unseen.
Furthermore, since I have been created as an imager of God, I can have the confidence that He is in control of everything in my life, and there is nothing that can happen to me outside of God’s plan for my life. Therefore, I know if I make choices contrary to the precepts found in God’s Word, I will harvest what I have planted. On the flip side, if I plant what God desires for my life, I will harvest the crop that results from right living. The formula is simple…Follow God’s precepts, and we can live a confident and courageous life.
    Joshua 1:6-9
“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.  Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.  Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1768 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Unknown, and it is, "A man doesn’t become a failure until he is satisfied with being one."
    Don’t Become A Failure
Failure, in most cases, is a frame of mind and not an actual event. We can fail repeatedly, but until we are satisfied that failure is our lot in life, then we have not truly failed. There is no limit to the number of times you can get back up on your feet, dust yourself off, and begin again with even more wisdom than before.
Only when we become comfortable with living below our God-given potential, we start the downward spiral of mediocracy, which eventually leads to failure. We may not be abundantly prosperous in all of our endeavors, but as long as we persevere and do the best we can for today, we are on the path to success.
    Matthew 25:20-27
The servant to whom he had entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five more and said, ‘Master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more.’
“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’
“The servant who had received the two bags of silver came forward and said, ‘Master, you gave me two bags of silver to invest, and I have earned two more.’
“The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’
“Then the servant with the one bag of silver came and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate.  I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.’
     “But the master replied,

    Forced Action – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1767 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from John F. Kennedy, and it is, “A man does what he must – in spite of personal consequences, despite obstacles and dangers and pressures.”
    Forced Action

When our backs are up against a wall, when we are between a rock and a hard place, when we or our families are in peril, we will rise to the occasion and do what we must. It is incredible what we can do when we have no other choice but to move forward. Come hell or high water, in times of crises, we quit thinking about our personal consequences and are able to overcome obstacles, dangers, and pressures to do what is necessary.
It is through times of crisis when we have the strength and fortitude that is needed to overcome. It is in times of failure that we can learn the lessons needed to succeed. This is one of the primary reasons we should not be overly discouraged when life does not go according to plan. It causes us to learn, mature, and gain the wisdom that is needed for life.
    John 16:31-33
Jesus asked, “Do you finally believe?  But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when you will be scattered, each one going his own way, leaving me alone. Yet, I am not alone because the Father is with me.  I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1766 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Unknown, and it is, "A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still."
    Same Opinion
This quote is quite well known, but is more truthful today than at any point in past history. With the self-appointment experts that troll social media and populate most of the 24/7 newscast, the fight for people's attention is at a fever pitch. We all like to pontificate on our knowledge and so-called wisdom, but the fact is very few of us are experts or understand that which we so vehemently defend. We will not convince others that our opinions are correct by arguing and fighting with them. We will not convince others by separating from them or trying to get them canceled.
Truth and wisdom are in such short supply today that it has become the leading critical issue. It isn't easy to believe anything we are told from our politicians, the news media, and most social media postings. Deep fakes and outright lies flood most of what we consume as information today. It is not convincing anyone, but makes us much more skeptical of anything that may have some truth embedded within it. We need to turn back to the only source of truth: God and the precepts found in His Word. God’s Word is the one truth we can believe in, and it will change our opinions, hearts, and minds.
    1 Corinthians 2:13-16
When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.  Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others.  For,
“Who can know the Lord’s thoughts?
Who knows enough to teach him?”
But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.

Feed On Truth – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1765 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from C.S. Lewis, and it is, “A man can’t always be defending the truth; there must be a time to feed on it.”
    Feed On Truth
While we have a mandate and obligation to defend the truth, we have to understand that if we don’t intimately know that same truth, there is no way for us to defend it adequately. Therefore, you must continually feed on that truth so that it will be second nature to you when it is time to defend it. It will be like breathing or your heart beating.
When your life is marinated with God’s truth, it will seep from your pores at the slightest contact with that which is false. When you boil it all down, though, the truths found in God’s Word will defend themselves. Therefore, your responsibility is to know the truth well enough that when you speak God’s Word, it will be sufficient. So focus on feeding on the truth so that it will defend itself.
    Ephesians 6:10-18
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.  For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.  Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.  For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.  In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1764 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Thomas Scott, and it is, “A man cannot leave a better legacy to the world than a well-educated family.”
    A Better Legacy
We often think we must leave a great legacy when we die to provide our family, friends, or organizations with something of sizable monetary value. While this can be commendable, money is certainly not a legacy of most significant value. Instead, providing your family with a well-rounded education is of much greater importance.
This education should include Biblical wisdom and knowledge and knowledge of how to make a good and ethical living, the arts, culture, and people. A well-educated family will provide each member with all the tools they need to create their living legacy. Education is essential, and one of the most critical aspects of an excellent education is knowing how to learn on your own.  To provide a skill set that creates additional skill sets.  That is indeed the best legacy you can leave to others.
    2 Peter 1:2-9
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.  And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge,  and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness,  and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1763 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
Today’s quote is from Mark Twain, and it is, "A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval."
    Be Comfortable
There seems to be an epidemic of people who are just not comfortable with who they are. They are dissatisfied with life, disillusioned with their future, and always seeking peace outside of themselves. But, unfortunately, they have not discovered that peace is always internal and can only be achieved when our peace rests in our relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
When we have God’s Spirit dwelling within us, we can finally be satisfied and comfortable with ourselves and those we interact. The peace of God comes from knowing that He has control of our lives and is directing His creation for His purpose. Joy and peace go hand in hand. You are never joyful unless you are first at peace with yourself. Likewise, you are never at peace with yourself unless you are at peace with God. It’s your choice; choose wisely.
    John 14:26-28
But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe."

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1762 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Charles Schwab, and it is, “A man can succeed at almost anything for which he has unlimited enthusiasm.”
    Unlimited Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm may not be required for success on every occasion. Still, if a person is going to be successful in their endeavors on a consistent and continual basis, they must be enthusiastic about what they are doing. It boils down to the fact that if a person has unlimited enthusiasm, they will not quit until success has been achieved, even if it requires going through multiple failures.
The passion and drive needed to persist through the trials and obstacles of life are bolstered by unlimited enthusiasm. It is that extra ingredient needed to keep on going when others would have given up and quit. Boundless enthusiasm is created when we choose to be enthusiastic. As with most aspects of life, when deciding to take action, continue, and fight against the odds, our desires are strong enough to align with our choices. If we follow God’s leading in our lives, we should move forward with enthusiasm and know that He who began a good work in us will continue to guide us.
    Philippians 1:6
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
