Do It Right Today – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1854 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from an Unknown Source, and it is: A thing done right today means less trouble tomorrow.
    Do It Right Today

If we don’t have the time to do something right today, why do we think we will have the time tomorrow. That is just not logical. Yet, all too often, we race through a project, work, or other activity because we are so busy. Still, we end up not doing it correctly, which takes us even longer when we have to redo what was already done, albeit incorrectly. The key is to slow down, analyze the situation and then work through the problem or project thoughtfully and focus on the details. As my dad told us dozens of times growing up, we should be slow and methodical as we were racing through our activities. It reminds me of the professional photographer who rushed through his photoshoot and said he did not have time to focus his cameras; he had pictures to take. So take time to do it right the first time today, and you will save yourself a lot of trouble in all of your tomorrows.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Peter%203%3A9andversion=NLT (2 Peter 3:9)

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Zig Ziglar, and it is: A team can be impacted at any stage by anyone who has a positive or negative influence on the outcome of the team’s goals.
    Impact the Outcome

Whether it is a sports team, a business team, a church team, or a family team, one person can positively or negatively influence each of those teams. Therefore, the entire team must be unified and work for the same goals and outcomes. For example, growing up in an apple orchard, I know firsthand that a single apple that begins to rot can impact all of the apples surrounding it. That is why it was essential to separate a rotting apple from the solid apples. Otherwise, the entire bag or basket of apples would be negatively impacted within time. So it is with teams; if there is one negative person, it will negatively impact the entire team. The converse is also true. If a team has experience failure or disappointment, one positive member can assist in revitalizing the whole team. So the moral of this story is, be a good apple; you never know how your life will positively impact the entire team.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=3%20John%201%3A11andversion=NLT (3 John 1:11)

Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.

Today’s quote is from an Unknows Source, and it is: A successful person is a dreamer whom someone believed in.
    Success and Belief

Success in any area of life starts with belief. Belief in yourself and others believing in your ability to become successful. Of course, other crucial factors like hard work, diligence, and the ability to overcome failure are part of the success spectrum. This belief, or some would call it faith in God, is a very critical factor on that difficult path to success. Some success appears to be a miracle in the face of impossible odds. Like the miracles recorded in God’s Word, there was a measure of belief and faith required for the miracles to be manifested in most cases. The first and most important step towards the success desired is belief in yourself. Believe that God made you to glorify Him, and although success from God’s perspective may not be the same as we perceive it, if we seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness, then all that we need to do His will is provided to us. Seek first to be kingdom builders, building on a firm foundation.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%206%3A33andversion=NLT (Matthew 6:33)

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Mignon McLaughlin, and it is: A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.
    A Successful Marriage

While I agree with this quote completely, I would like to expand on it a bit. A successful marriage is where both partners choose every day to love the person they are married to. It is not optional; if you are committed to a lifelong and satisfying relationship, you must choose to love your spouse unconditionally. Love is always a choice, and it is a choice that must be made on a continuous basis. From the beginning, God created us as His imagers to be in a relationship that lasts for our natural lives. Anything or anyone that subverts God’s plan for marriage is a violation of his precepts. The New Testament equates marriage as a picture of Christ and His church. This is a sacred covenant. So choose each day to love your spouse; it is not an option.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+5%3A25-26andversion=NLT (Ephesians 5:25-26)

For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.

If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from David Brinkley, and it is: A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.
    A Firm Foundation

To be successful in any life endeavor, you must be willing to handle trials and hardships and turn them into advantages. But, unfortunately, many people will give up when criticized by others or when they run into headwinds of any kind. This type of defeatism will stifle forward progress, and that progress will cease altogether before too long. We cannot allow this to happen in our lives. We are created to glorify God, and we cannot do that if we are prone to give up when trials come into our path of success. So when others throw bricks at you and try to thwart your progress, pick the bricks up, but instead of throwing them back, use them to build a strong foundation for success. In Jesus’s parable of servants who wisely invested what they had been entrusted with, he commends those who were faithful with little or much. He did not commend the one who did nothing. So it is with us, God has blessed us with talents and abilities that we should use for Him. Little is much when God is in it.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2025%3A21andversion=NLT (Matthew 25:21)

“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1849 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.

Today’s quote is from Persian Proverb, and it is: A stone given at the right time is better than gold given at the wrong time.
    A Stone Or Gold

I would say that most of us think that gold is so much more valuable than a stone, but that is because most of us have ready access to a way to cash in on that gold. However, there are scenarios when that would not be accurate. For example, we are out in the wilderness and have to survive. A hard stone would have many uses in that situation, but a nugget of gold, which is far softer, would not be near as valuable. This stone could be used to crush nuts or grain, or it could be used to drive stakes into the ground. Gold would not have the same capabilities. Here is another example. Let’s say you were starving, and someone came along with food in one bucket and gold in another. The catch here is there is no way to redeem the gold before you would starve to death. In that case, the food would be exponentially more valuable than any amount of gold. So it is with God’s imagers. There may be one person who is a genius or a successful business person, but if you need a plumber to unclog an over-flowing toilet, then who brings the most value to that situation? Indeed, the trained plumber would be invaluable. As I recited at the beginning of every podcast, many things are more valuable in life than silver or gold, like wisdom and sound judgment. Keep this in mind the next time you think all would be well if you just had more riches.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Job+28%3A17-19andversion=NLT (Job 28:17-19)

Wisdom is more valuable than gold and crystal.
It cannot be purchased with jewels mounted in fine gold.
Coral and jasper are worthless in trying to get it.
The price of wisdom is far above rubies.
Precious peridot from Ethiopia cannot be exchanged for it.
It’s worth more than the purest gold.

Today’s quote is from Amy Carmichael, and it is: A spiritual secret is to learn contentment with the things God doesn’t explain to us.
    A Spiritual Secret

There are many things in this life that we will never understand fully, but we cannot allow that to cause us discontentment. As an imager of God, we must have strong faith to be content even when we may not understand the reason for specific events or issues. We don’t and can’t understand everything God allows to pour through our lives, what we may consider good or bad. The key to a contented life is to be willing to accept God’s gifts to us even when we do not recognize them as gifts but trials. One of the most obvious marks of a spiritually mature person is their ability to remain at peace and content, even when the world around them may seem to be in chaos. A spiritually mature person recognizes that everything works for our good according to God’s will for us. The secret to being a mature imager of God is no secret at all. You must learn to be content, even when you don’t understand God’s plans for you.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah+55%3A8-9andversion=NLT (Isaiah 55:8-9)

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

Today’s quote is from an English Proverb, and it is: A smooth sea never made a skillful mariner.
    A Skillful Mariner

We would all like our seas of life to be smooth and not buffeted by wind or waves, but that is not how life is. If it were, we would never be able to reach maturity or our full potential in life. Yes, there will be days where life is smooth sailing, but more often than not, many days will be filled with raging waves, torrential rains, and powerful headwinds. When we face these conditions as we sail through life, we will become skillful and be able to assist others facing storms in their lives. The more we experience the storms of life ourselves, and we successfully navigate through those storms, the more skillful we will become. The more proficient we become, our capacity to assist others will flourish. So it is with life. We gain the ability to use the winds, rain, and waves to our advantage to drive us forward with greater skill and expertise. Therefore, we should not curse the storms but adjust our sails to take advantage of those storms.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Thessalonians+1%3A3-6andversion=NLT (2 Thessalonians 1:3-6)

Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing. We proudly tell God’s other churches about your endurance and faithfulness in all the persecutions and hardships you are suffering. And God will use this persecution to show his justice and to make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering. In his justice he will pay back those who persecute you.

If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Alfred A. Montapert, and it is: A smile of encouragement at the right moment may act like sunlight on a closed-up flower; it may be the turning point for a struggling life.
    A Smile Of Encouragement

A genuine smile at the right moment has such extreme power that it can heal a broken heart or repair a fractured relationship. We should never underestimate what an encouraging word, hug, and smile can do for someone struggling in life. You must have a heartfelt passion for the one who you are assisting. Just a little kindness and a smile of encouragement may be the sunshine needed for the closed-up person to open up in full radiance of a spring or summer flower. We never really know what another person may be going through, so if you make it a habit to smile, be kind, and look for ways to assist others, you will have untold opportunities to further God’s kingdom through your actions. The benefits of a genuine smile will also help in your life.

When they were discouraged, I smiled at them. My look of approval was precious to them.

Welcome to Day 1845 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.
This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom
Handwriting On The Wall – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1845 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.

Today’s quote is from Morris Bender, and it is: A skeptic is a person who, when he sees the handwriting on the wall, claims it is a forgery.
    Handwriting On The Wall

No matter how irrefutable the truth is, some people will not believe it. I realize that we are exposed to a plethora of information today through the internet, 24/7 news shows, and millions of self-proclaimed prophets, all vying for our attention, so it becomes difficult to know what is true and what is not. However, even with this, we have a standard for which we can base truth as we construct our worldview daily. That standard is God’s Word and the precepts and principles taught within. We must understand that God’s Word is not a science book, although it contains information that can help us analyze scientific theories. Likewise, God’s Word is not a precise history book, although it does correspond with much of history throughout the ages. As I have mentioned before, God’s Word was written for us, but not directly to us. If we interpret passages based on a 21st-century worldview, we will end up down rabbit holes that lead to false conclusions. We must get inside the original authors’ minds and culture and understand their worldview to divide the word of truth rightly. With much of what we hear, read, or watch on various media platforms, we need to filter this information through the evident facts of God’s Word. If today’s information and stories don’t make sense through common sense, then it is probably nonsense. Stick with the clear handwriting found on the wall of God’s Word, and don’t be a skeptic. We would all do well to saturate our minds with the wisdom found in Proverbs.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+1%3A1-7andversion=NLT (Proverbs 1:1-7)

These are the proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel.

Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline,
to help them understand the insights of the wise. Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives,
to help them do what is right, just, and fair.
These proverbs will give insight to the simple,
knowledge and discernment to the young.

Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser.
Let those with understanding receive guidance
by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables,
the words of the wise and their riddles.

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
