Welcome to Day 1874 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.

Earthly Goals For Heavenly Gains – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1874 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Wisdom_Trek, and it is: A wise person sets his earthly goals on heavenly gains.
    Earthly Goals For Heavenly Gains

Do you desire to be extremely wise throughout your life? You can tell a person’s depth of wisdom based on their goal for themselves and their life. For example, wisdom may lack if a person’s goals are primarily focused on obtaining things. On the other hand, if a person’s goals are on establishing and maintaining strong relationships and making an eternal impact on the lives of others, then the depth of wisdom is substantial. Furthermore, since our occupation in life is to be building God’s kingdom, then a wise person will have their focus on heavenly gains. A person is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose. All that we possess and our talents and abilities are given to us by God, and we are stewards of them. Don’t miss the point, though, that we are to be wise stewards of all the blessings provided. So set your goal high, and with wisdom, those goals will point heavenward.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians+3%3A1-4andversion=NLT (Colossians 3:1-4)

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps.

Today’s quote is from Frances Bacon, and it is: A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.
    Make More Opportunities

Being wise has so many advantages that it is quite surprising that most people don’t pursue wisdom with a passion. Indeed, the book of Proverbs is packed full of references for gaining wisdom, insight, and understanding. One of those benefits or advantages is that the wise will have the wisdom to recognize and take advantage of opportunities even when they don’t appear to be opportunities at first. Unfortunately, most people are not wise enough to recognize opportunities because they usually dress in overalls and look like work. Yet, the opportunities that we create or recognize because of our wisdom will change our lives’ trek. Opportunities multiply opportunities, so the wiser we are, the more opportunities will blossom from our lives and pour over into the lives of others. That is what building the Kingdom of God is about, impacting the lives of others to bring them from the domain of Satan into the Kingdom of God. When we have more opportunities in life, it provides the resources to impact lives to a greater extent. God has granted us the ability to gain wisdom. We need to follow the precepts in His Word to gain that wisdom. It is so easy to gain wisdom; all we need is to ask as we are told in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James+1%3A5andversion=NLT (James 1:5.) If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

Here is just one passage that lists the value of wisdom:

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+4%3A4-9andversion=NLT (Proverbs 4:4-9)

    My father taught me,
    “Take my words to heart.
Follow my commands, and you will live.
    Get wisdom; develop good judgment.
Don’t forget my words or turn away from them.
Don’t turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you.
Love her, and she will guard you.
Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!
And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.
If you prize wisdom, she will make you great.
Embrace her, and she will honor you.
    She will place a lovely wreath on your head;
she will present you with a beautiful crown.”

Welcome to Day 1872 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.

Seek Wise Counsel – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from a Larry Burkett, and it is: A wise person seeks much counsel...a fool listens to all of it.
    Seek Wise Counsel

You would think that wise people would not need to seek additional counsel since they already have a level of wisdom that is more than most people. The opposite is true. A wise person continues to gain wisdom throughout their life because they are wise enough to know that they are not wise enough. There is another crucial distinction between some who is wise and someone who is foolish. The wise person can discern which counsel adds to their wisdom and which counsel is not wisdom. Those who remain foolish do not have the discernment to distinguish between good and bad counsel, so they accept it all, which adds to their foolishness. The attributes of a wise person are that they know which counsel to keep and which to discard. God expects us to be wise. If counsel does not line up with the precepts found in God’s Word, it needs to be discarded.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+9%3A8-12andversion=NLT (Proverbs 9:8-12)

    So don’t bother correcting mockers;
    they will only hate you.
    But correct the wise,
    and they will love you.
    Instruct the wise,
and they will be even wiser.
    Teach the righteous,
and they will learn even more.

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.

    Wisdom will multiply your days
and add years to your life.
If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit.
If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps.

Today’s quote is from a Chinese Proverb, and it is: A wise man makes his own decisions, an ignorant man follows public opinion.
    Make Wise Decisions

I don’t believe it has been ever more evident than today with 24/7 always-on news and the endless stream of social media posts that the masses are being led down a path of misinformation and fake news. This misinformation is prevalent with all types of media outlets, from ultra-liberal to ultra-conservative. Logically thinking for ourselves and making wise decisions seems to be a fading character trait of most people. The conclusion appears that we are losing a large segment of people who are truly wise and capable of lining up their worldview with God’s Word. We must keep God’s Word in our lives as a compass to navigate us through the tidal waves of fake news. If you think that fake news only comes from one side of the political spectrum, think again. The extensive media outlets are driven by revenue and profits, and they warp their information to fit the audience that will drive the most revenue. Don’t be misled, but instead, invest time daily reading, absorbing, and studying God’s Word so that you will have a Biblical worldview. With this Biblical worldview, you can make wise decisions and determine if what you hear or read aligns with the truth found in God’s Word.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Galatians+6%3A4-10andversion=NLT (Galatians 6:4-10)

Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.

Those who are taught the word of God should provide for their teachers, sharing all good things with them.

Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.

If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Jonathan Swift, and it is: A wise man is never less alone than when he is alone.
    The Wise Are Not Lonely

Those truly wise are not dependent on being with other people to be at peace and content. They understand that they are never alone because God is with them, regardless of their current situation. Yes, we all like the company and fellowship of others, but we should not depend on it for contentment. We are created to be relational, just as God chose to create and fellowship with us. Still, peace of mind and heart are only found in our relationship with God because all earthly relationships will fail to provide what we need at some point or another. Therefore, the wise continually accumulate Godly wisdom throughout their lives, and the wiser they become, the more comfortable they are with being alone with their wisdom. So if you find yourself lonely much of the time, it would be best to invest your life to gain wisdom. It will provide the peace and contentment that you desire.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+4%3A5-9andversion=NLT (Proverbs 4:5-9)

    Get wisdom; develop good judgment.

Today’s quote is from Larry Bird, and it is: A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.
    God-Given Talents

We all have the potential to be winners to the highest degree, as long as we understand that being a winner for one person may be entirely different for another. This is because we are created imagers of the one and only Holy God. He has created each of us with unique talents and abilities that only we can fulfill. The key is to recognize your God-given talents and abilities and then dedicate yourself by working as hard as possible to put them into practice. I realize that those talents and abilities given to us may not be fully developed, and it is our responsibility to hone them into valuable skills for building God’s kingdom. As a citizen of God’s kingdom, the ultimate goal is to perfect our God-given talents and abilities to further His work and bring honor and glory to His name. This will require hard work and perseverance, but we can accomplish it. So, every day, be about the job you are called to do.

Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Joe Torre, and it is: A winner is somebody who goes out there every day and exhausts himself trying to get something accomplished.
    The Exhausted Winner

It is not easy to win at anything in life unless you are willing to put in the effort to succeed. Effort or exertion results in weariness, possibly to the point of exhaustion. To accomplish anything worthwhile, you must consistently pursue your goals and ambitions. Consistency means going out day after day and powering through, even when you don’t feel like it and even when you don’t see much progress. On most days, by the end of the day, I am either emotionally or physically exhausted, some days both. That is ok, though, because it gives me a sense of satisfaction that I not only accomplished much, but I have also impacted the lives of others. That impact may not be immediate or even significant, but mountains are moved one stone at a time. I have a lifetime to accomplish God’s purpose for me. I make sure that I take care of myself spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically so that I am prepared for each new day. By preparing properly, I know that my exhaustion will serve a greater purpose while still maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Don’t wear yourself out by destroying yourself, be smart and balanced. If you retain these practices, being an exhausted winner will be worth the effort.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+23%3A4-5andversion=NLT (Proverbs 23:4-5)
Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich.
Be wise enough to know when to quit.
In the blink of an eye wealth disappears,
    for it will sprout wings
and fly away like an eagle.

Knowledge of a Winner – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1867 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.

Today’s quote is from John Maxwell, and it is: A winner is big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them.
    Knowledge of a Winner

We all desire to be winners in every area of our lives. However, I don’t believe anyone desires to be a loser. Yet, there are those individuals who consistently win and those who consistently lose. Which group are you in? To be a winner does not mean that you will never fail and make mistakes. It means that when you fail and make mistakes, you are willing to accept and admit them. Once you fail or make mistakes, you do not remain in that state of mind, loathing in self-pity. Instead, you are smart enough to learn from your failures and mistakes and change your approach the next time. You don’t give up. You have the strength necessary to take the lessons learned, correct those mistakes and failures, and then begin again with new knowledge and a drive that will pull you through the most difficult of times. We know that with God, nothing is impossible, but as a student of God’s Word and the precepts that are contained within, we understand that any true success obtained must follow His principles. Otherwise, any human success we achieve will not be pleasing to God and will not ultimately advance the building of His kingdom. Be a successful kingdom builder; there is no other type of success.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+7%3A24-29andversion=NLT (Matthew 7:24-29)

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority—quite unlike their teachers of religious law.

The Tightrope of Life – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1866 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.

Today’s quote is from William A. Ward, and it is: A well-developed sense of humor is the pole that adds balance to your steps as you walk the tightrope of life.
    The Tightrope of Life

Life is sometimes challenging, sort of like walking on a tightrope. You have to be very careful with each step you take. This trek of life can be a difficult path to take, but just like being on a tightrope or climbing a mountain, the higher you go, the more beautiful the scenery. In both examples, you need to make sure you are appropriately outfitted and be very careful to have the proper balance. That is where a well-developed sense of humor comes into play. Whether it is a balancing beam on a tightrope or a good walking stick for a challenging hike in life, a good sense of humor will steady you through those difficult life situations we all encounter. A well-developed sense of humor needs to be cultivated in your life. First, don’t take life too seriously. Unless a situation causes harm to life or limb, then you can laugh at it and get through it. Also, invest time reading funny stories, jokes, listening to comedians, and watching funny programs. This will help you get through the challenging times with more ease and comfort. As God’s children, we are to live fully and enjoy what He has blessed us with. Therefore, we all need to lighten up and live.

They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

A Warm Smile – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1864 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.

Today’s quote is from William Arthur Ward, and it is: A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.
    A Warm Smile

This quote is so accurate. I am sure everyone has seen smiling faces of adults and children from every culture throughout the world. No matter the spoken language, smiling and laughing are universal languages. The reason for this is twofold. First, we are all of one race, the human race. There are not multiple races in our world. That is a lie fostered by Satan to cause strife between people. Yes, there are different nationalities and cultures, but only one universal race of people. The second reason that smiling and laughing are universal languages is that God creates everyone to image Him. As imagers of the one and only God, we have many more similarities among humanity than we will ever have in differences. Our purpose is equally similar: to love and glorify God and love each other as we love ourselves. So no matter whom you are with, even if they have a different level of melatonin in their skin or have different political views, we are to love each other. So share a warm smile and a good laugh with everyone you are with, and before you know it, you will be speaking the same language, even if you can’t understand each other verbally.

Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians+4%3A5-6andversion=NLT#fen-NLT-29509a (a)] so that you will have the right response for everyone.
