Welcome to Day 1884 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.

Who Are You Traveling With? – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1884 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Croft M. Pentz, and it is: Abraham did not know for sure where he was going, but he knew for sure with whom he was going.
Who Are You Traveling Life With

I like to plan and set goals in life. I want to know where I am heading and have a reasonable idea of how I will get there. That is a reasonable expectation for much of our lives, especially in the modern world. But, unfortunately, I would say that most of us, as we age into the latter years of our lives and look back on the road, we have traveled, it probably does not look like we had anticipated when we set out in our early adult lives. But is it unfortunate? The pathways that we take in life, either planned or unplanned, make us who we are today. I would not change my life journey because I am a better person because of what I have gone through. This was undoubtedly true of Abraham, the father of the Hebrew nation. God instructed what seemed like, out of the blue, and Abraham and his wife Sarah departed and headed out to a land that God promised to give his descendants. So, when God calls us, we need to follow. Abraham was 75 at the time, and had no children to make descendants, so I am sure this was difficult for him to grasp. However, Abraham was obedient and packed up his family and obeyed. He did not have to be overly concerned because although he did not know where he was heading, he knew and trusted the one he was traveling with. We need to do the same.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+11%3A8-12andversion=NLT (Hebrews 11:8-12)

It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.

It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+11%3A8-12andversion=NLT#fen-NLT-30144a (a)] that God would keep his promise. And so a whole nation came from this one man who was as good as dead—a nation with so many people that, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Rita Levi-Montalcini, and it is: Don’t fear difficult moments. The best comes from them.
    Don’t Fear Difficulty

No one enjoys doing difficult tasks or having difficult days and weeks, but life for everyone has its difficult moments. But unfortunately, some people seem to have an abundance of difficulties. It may be some difficulties we bring on ourselves, but many are just part of being in a non-perfect world. As with most things in life, how we view life, even the difficult times, determines our ability to overcome problems. If we allow them to devastate us, then they will. If instead, we learn from the difficulties and allow ourselves to grow through them, then the best will come from the most difficult of times. We must keep in perspective that God knows and understands our good times and bad, and Jesus Christ experienced all that we have or will go through, yet without sin. Let us try to me more like that perfect imager as we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+4%3A14-16andversion=NLT (Hebrews 4:14-16)

So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Today’s quote is from Unknown, and it is: Be true to yourself, and if you cannot put your heart in it, take yourself out of it.
    Be True To Yourself

For the Christ-follower, this quote can only ring true when we align our worldview with Biblical precepts. Then, when we are faithful to God and His principles, we can be true to ourselves because God’s will for us becomes our will. When this happens, our hearts will mirror God’s heart, and we will know what activities we should be part of and what activities we should refrain from. Some of those activities that we choose not to engage with may be practical activities, but not for us at this season of life. If you cannot invest your heart into an activity, then it is best to refrain from it, at least for now. As I grow older, my priorities are changing, and I don’t have the same goals and ambitions that I once pursued. This change of focus is neither good nor bad, as long as they do not violate God’s principles, but with each season of life, we change, morph, hopefully, become more wise and mature, and our priorities shift from success to significance. I desire more for significance in the lives of others now, whereas, in the past, I would more readily pursue success. What is important is that we are true to ourselves for this particular season of life, but what is more important is that we are true to God and his calling during each season of life.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Timothy+6%3A11-14andversion=NLT (1 Timothy 6:11-14)

But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses. And I charge you before God, who gives life to all, and before Christ Jesus, who gave a good testimony before Pontius Pilate, that you obey this command without wavering. Then no one can find fault with you from now until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.

Today’s quote is from Nora Ephron, and it is: Be the hero (or heroine) of your life, not the victim.
    Don’t Play The Victim

There are heroes all around us. From soldiers who protect our borders to Fathers and mothers who never give up on their children, every person who makes a difference in the lives of other beings are heroes. Only a few of them get noticed, though. It seems like so often that you see people playing the victim card for their lot in life instead of taking responsibility for their choices and making the best of it. Regardless of whether you have been dealt a had of bad cards, it would be best if you learned to play the hand you were dealt and make a difference in your life and everyone you impact. The real heroes are rarely noticed, not desire to be noticed. They would prefer to make the best of every situation, and if that includes a bit of heroism, they will do it without fanfare or expecting fame. While Jesus was on earth, he taught us how to be leaders and heroes. It was by being a servant of all. That is the mark of a true hero.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2020%3A25%2D27andversion=NLT (Matthew 20:25-27)

But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave.

Today’s quote is from St. Francis of Assisi, and it is: Above all, the grace and gifts that Christ gives to his beloved is that of overcoming self.
    Overcoming Self

I am sure all of us know someone full of themselves; maybe it is the person staring back at you in the mirror. We are created as imagers of God, and as a child of the king, there is no reason for us to think of ourselves as trash. We are God’s masterpiece and have been fearfully and wonderfully made, but that is not something we have done, but what God has done for us. We also must realize that we have been crucified with Christ, and the life we now live, we live by faith in the one who loved us and gave himself for us. So we should not be full of ourselves but full of God’s Spirit that dwells within us. If we are indeed full of the spirit, then our lives will reflect the fruit of the Spirit as found in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=galatians+5%3A22-23andversion=NLT (Galatians 5:22-23.) But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Philippians%202%3A3andversion=NLT (Philippians 2:3)

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

Today’s quote is from Lou Holtz, and it is: Ability is important. Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.
    Ability, Motivation, and Attitude

While all three are components are essential, ability and motivation will not bring success unless you also have the proper attitude to achieve. Attitude is the fuel that runs the engine of success. If we use a car as an analogy, the ability would be the car body, while motivation is the engine, but neither the body nor the engine will move without the fuel. Once the fuel is pumped into the car, which is the attitude, there are few limits to the places it can go. God provides us with the ability, and doing His will for our lives is the motivation, but His indwelling Holy Spirit provides the strength to fulfill God’s will. Allow the Holy Spirit to fill you entirely as you build God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+5%3A15-19andversion=NLT (Ephesians 5:15-19)

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.

Today’s quote is from Zig Ziglar, and it is: Ability is important. Dependability is critical.
    Ability vs. Dependability

Having the ability to accomplish activities in life is important, and God has granted each of us abilities in specific areas that He chooses. However, even if we have all the ability in the world, if we do not have dependability, then little will be accomplished in our lives. Therefore, we need to be dependable in all aspects of life, from being on time, starting well, and continuing with perseverance until the task is completed. Someone with few abilities but has dependability will accomplish much more than someone who has an abundance of abilities but does not have dependability. You can and should have both and utilize them for God’s glory.

Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Wisdom-Trek, and it is: Ability and training will help you reach the top, but it will be your character that will allow you to remain there
    Character Counts

God has blessed each of us with specific talents and abilities which are different from everyone else. It is up to us to use those talents and skills for His honor and glory. Part of this is through training and honing your skills. But becoming good at what God has blessed you will only be temporary if your character traits are not aligned with God’s precepts found in His Word. Your character will allow you to continue to excel throughout your life. Your talents and skills may take on a different focus depending on the season of life you are currently in, but your character will remain the same. Your character is who you are, regardless of your talents and abilities. So, you may be thinking, what are the character traits I should include in my life. The excellent character possesses qualities like loyalty, honesty, courage, integrity, fortitude, and other essential virtues that promote good behavior. A person with good character chooses to do the right thing because they believe it is morally right. All of these qualities make up your integrity in life. It is who you are. Let us utilize the talents and skills God has blessed us with to build His kingdom on earth.

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Corinthians+12%3A1-6andversion=NLT (1 Corinthians 12:1-6)

Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us. I don’t want you to misunderstand this. You know that when you were still pagans, you were led astray and swept along in worshiping speechless idols. So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.

We are on Day 1876 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.

Today’s quote is from Karen Lamb, and it is: A year from now, you may wish you had started today.
    Start Today

So many people have dreams, ambitions, plans, and goals, but they never wake up from their dream to achieve their desires. There are always excuses or hindrances where they are hesitant to begin. Usually, the real reason for not beginning, is fear that they may fail. This procrastination may even be an unconscious fear that they just make up excuses instead of taking that first step towards their goal. Without realizing it, a person who does this will automatically fail because they never take action on their dreams and ambitions. While everyone will look back and see how wiser decisions could have been made, those who are successful can briefly look back with the realization that they may need to adjust course slightly, but they continue to move forward. Don’t risk looking back a year from now and regretting that you never started. Start today, and even if you fail or have to make significant course corrections, you will see how far you have come and the beautiful lessons you have learned.

As they were walking along, someone said to Jesus, “I will follow you wherever you go.” But Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.” So he said to another person, “Come, follow me.” The man agreed, but he said, “Lord, first let me return home and bury my father.” But Jesus told him, “Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead![https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+9%3A57-62andversion=NLT#fen-NLT-25330a (a)] Your duty is to go and preach about the Kingdom of God.” Another said, “Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good-bye to my family.” But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”

Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Wisdom_Trek, and it is: A word to the wise is sufficient. A word to the unwise is resented.
    A Word To The Wise

The exciting fact about wise people is that they are always seeking to gain additional wisdom. They fully understand that they are not all-knowing, nor do they have all the wisdom needed. While there may be a diminishing return on gaining knowledge for knowledge’s sake, there is certainly no limitation nor diminishing return on the depth of wisdom a person can achieve. The wiser one becomes, the more humble and mature one becomes. Whereas additional knowledge tends to puff up, additional wisdom makes you more humble. Wisdom is the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment. A word to the wise will make that person wiser; whether that word is rebuke or edification, the wise will add to their wisdom.

On the other hand, a word to the unwise will be resented and will usually end up with that person arguing, being defensive, or sulking. Many times all three. The unwise lack confidence in themselves and God, so they try to cover their lack of confidence. So if you find yourself resistant when someone corrects you or provides a word of exhortation, you may lack the wisdom, discernment, and understanding needed for continued spiritual growth. Grown in wisdom each day, we are all lacking in some area of life.

    So don’t bother correcting mockers;
    they will only hate you.
    But correct the wise,
    and they will love you.
    Instruct the wise,
and they will be even wiser.
    Teach the righteous,
and they will learn even more.

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.
