Wits university student leadership has rejected the results of a poll that was conducted by the university. In a poll conducted via SMS, e-mails and web-links, a majority of students and staff want lectures to resume on Monday. The university has been shut for almost two weeks. This follows violent protests on campuses across the country after Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande announced that universities can raise tuition fees for the 2017 academic year‚ but the increases must not exceed 8 percent.
