Wives & Knives

Hello and welcome to this week’s episode of Wives & Knives: a true crime podcast, with your hosts Dani Smith & Kelly Lee.

***This episode should be called ‘Planes, Bee’s & Water features’ as it’s recorded outside. ✈️🐝💦

This week we are in Jersey, with a special shout out to Tracey in Jersey & Sharon our OG member who suggested this case to us.

On the 10th of October 1987 Nicholas & Elizabeth Newall disappeared from their home in Clos de l’Atlantique in St Brelade, Jersey.  Despite extensive searches it remained a missing persons case until 1988 when police discovered the remains of a bonfire, with burnt and blood splattered clothing belonging to the Newall’s, near to their family home.  Even With plenty of suspicion & rumours it wouldn’t be until years later that the truth of what happened that night would eventually come to light.

Please remember that we mean no disrespect to anyone mentioned in this episode, or across any of our platforms.

We have an interest in true crime and related topics and whilst we may offer our own personal views on certain items it is meant to be educational and as light-hearted as possible. The information we present is collated from research gathered from the internet and we reference and credit our sources wherever possible.

Hello and welcome to this week’s episode of Wives & Knives: a true crime podcast, with your hosts Dani Smith & Kelly Lee.

This week’s episode is a Crime (some of it true) Top Five mini episode. We are still abiding by Lockdown rules but for the love of cheese this weeks recording issues have tested my patience! The sound is dodgy in places, that pesky delay is in play and I am super quiet. It’s not ideal but We hope you still enjoy it. I’m blaming it on too many Easter eggs and a shitty internet connection. Kx

Hi everyone, thanks for joining us for this weeks case. This is the story of Stuart Lubbock and how he ended up dead at the home of one of Britains most loved tv entertainers, Michael Barrymore.

In the early hours of 31st of March 2001, emergency services in Essex received a call that a body had been found in the swimming pool.

When the paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the lifeless body of Stuart Lubbock.

How did Stuart end up at Michael Barrymores Essex mansion? And what went so wrong that night?

Dani and I were chatting, as we have been thinking about trying to get out a mini episode - so we have some weekly content for wanky Wednesday’s (as one of our listeners & top fans put it.)

It’s a good way for us to give you a mainly unpolluted true crime episode with minimal chatting shit, as well as talking about things that interest us as well.

So, with that said this week we have a mini episode where we are each going to take you through our top five of the true crime related media, we have been consuming.

We will discuss the podcasts, books, films, and TV that we’ve liked recently and give you a little review of sorts.

As always with us, even in the chatting shit episode I have had to edit out a good 30 mins of us talking about Towie, and other crap.  As always, we are recording whilst abiding by COVID-19 quarantine rules so the sound can be a little sketchy in places.

All the items we discuss in this episode will be linked in the main blog post on the website.

We hope you enjoy Kx
