Why is the spiritually powerful woman a scary witch or an ugly old hag, while the spiritually powerful man is enlightened, chosen, and close to God? From Moses to Buddha, men who experience the supernatural are framed as divinely appointed leaders with a sacred calling. Meanwhile, women with spiritual insight are reduced to ugly, evil, cauldron-stirring witches. 

In this episode, we unpack the imagery we were fed as kids — from Sunday school to storybooks — and how the Bible itself informs some of these archetypes. Why are we baptized by the hands of a man if we were already born through the womb of a woman? Why are we told woman was made from man’s rib in Genesis, but in reality, every single man who has ever lived was born from a woman’s body?
