    Kara Lynn Joyce and Coach Christen welcome 2016 Olympic gold medalist Kelsi Worrell Dahlia who shares her story of choosing the University of Louisville and her iconic rise onto the national stage. Kelsi shares her experiences at Olympic Trials, what she was doing in the ready room before her win in the 100 fly, as well as her relationship with Dana Volmer, 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the 100 fly.  She also reveals the inside scoop on her three silver medals at 2016 World Championships and her last minute stitches moments before winning gold in the 4x100 medley relay.

  • Moovin and Groovin: S1E2 - Yoga for Runners
    Claire Deacon guides us through some of the best yoga poses for runners, explaining there is no fast track for flexibility, it takes ground work and time but once you’re there you are in with some continuance. Flexibility will help you with your general posture, your range of movement and ultimately provide you with a higher quality of life. Yoga is not just about flexibility and strengthening of muscles; as a runner you will know the importance of breathing. Claire recommends using yoga as part of your post-run stretching sequence. Intense stretching is best done after intense sports. Claire walks us through a selection of poses that will help you especially as a runner. There are images of all the poses that Claire talks about in the show notes with this episode on our website.

    On this week’s episode Mick Swagger talks to Jumpy McGee, aka April Fournier, Co founder of Team Indigenous, coach at Maine Roller Derby, Board of Directors for Maine Roller Derby and member of the World Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) Advisory Committee.  They discuss the formation of Team Indigenous, how Team Indigenous members are all working on this in various ways, the role of the WFTDA and what has emerged from it. They also review language and terms that are offensive including Erica Vanstone aka Double H, reference to Trail of Tears. Jumpy shares the political activism and advocacy work that she is doing in her community in regards to the Mascot issue.

    On this month’s episode of The Sailing Show, Abby Ehler talks to Libby Greenhalgh, Dee Caffari and Carolijn Brouwer before the final leg of the Volvo Ocean Race. With a thrilling finish in store as the fleet race towards The Hague, Abby asks how they feel about this epic race now that they have experienced mixed gender teams and with news of changes to the next edition of the race. Will women still have opportunities on every boat, is mixed gender teams the way to go or do women need to manage their own teams?  We also hear how this leg presents unique challenges as the fleet navigates around Scandinavia and with three teams on equal points it will produce a nail-biting conclusion.
