Welcome back to ABGW, where we create a gentle space for reflection amidst the chaos of daily life. I’m Cheryl Paris, here to guide you through a brief yet impactful pause in your day.
In this soothing episode, we explore the all-too-familiar pressure to cope, especially when it seems everyone else is managing just fine. I’ll share insights on the common tendency to compare our internal struggles to the polished exterior of others, revealing how this perspective can distort our sense of self-worth.
Drawing from my experiences, I recount a story of a senior executive who appeared unflappable yet felt overwhelmed inside. This serves as a reminder that outward appearances often mask hidden battles. We’ll discuss the brain's instinctive responses to stress and how they can skew our perception of ourselves and others.
Through gentle encouragement, I invite you to step back and recognise the unrealistic demands you may be placing on yourself. It’s perfectly alright to acknowledge that you’re facing challenges; this awareness is a crucial step towards self-compassion.
Today, I encourage you to take a tiny action: write down just one thing you’ve managed this week that has drained your energy. This isn’t a sign of weakness, but rather an honest reflection of your experience.
As we conclude, take a moment to notice how you’re feeling now. Even the smallest shift in awareness can be significant. Remember, if at any point you feel overwhelmed, seeking professional support is a strong and constructive step forward.
Join me next time as we delve deeper into the importance of stepping back and the unexpected stirrings that can arise from it. Until then, take care of yourself, and I’ll be here again soon. Bye for now.

Welcome back to another soothing episode of ABGW, where we carve out a gentle space for you amidst the chaos of everyday life. I’m Cheryl Parris, here to guide you through a few moments of calm reflection.
Today, we’re tackling the phenomenon of urgency addiction—a pervasive feeling that everything around us is an emergency, especially in the workplace. As many of you return to work, it’s common to feel the weight of emails, meetings, and decisions pressing down on you.
I’ll share my own experiences of how our bodies can react to this urgency, often treating it as a threat rather than just information.
Join me as we explore the importance of stepping back to gain perspective. Just like viewing a painting from the right distance allows you to see the whole picture, pulling back from the immediate stressors can help clarify your thoughts and feelings.
I’ll guide you through a simple 60-second experiment to help you manage those spikes of stress, encouraging you to pause before responding and regain control.
As we navigate this episode together, remember that awareness is key.
Even the smallest shift in how you feel can lead to significant changes over time. And if you ever find yourself feeling overwhelmed, remember that seeking professional help is a strong and constructive step forward.
Tomorrow, we’ll delve into the voice that tells you, “I should be coping better,” and why it’s important to challenge that thought. Until then, take a moment to notice your feelings and embrace the journey of self-awareness.

Welcome back to ABGW, where we delve into the heart of self-discovery and resilience. I’m Cheryl Paris, your stress trauma coach and clinical hypnotherapist, guiding you through the complexities of leadership in challenging environments.
In this thought-provoking episode, we confront the insidious nature of pace shaming and the toll it takes on our sense of worth.
Drawing from my own experiences, I share one of the origins of the ABGW motto—an antidote to the relentless pressure to perform faster without clarity or support.
Join me as we explore how borrowed mottos often fall short, and why it’s essential to cultivate a personal mantra that resonates with your truth.
I’ll introduce you to my own guiding principle:
“Every step you take, no matter how small, is a step towards a brighter, more balanced future. Trust in your journey.”
As we navigate the new year, 2026, it’s time to redefine our resolutions, shifting from external expectations to internal truths. This episode is a gentle reminder that progress is not measured by speed, but by the small, meaningful steps we take towards balance.
We’ll also conduct a practical Compass Check exercise to help you identify the pressures you face and choose actionable steps that align with your well-being. Remember, your modus operandi must be non-negotiable, especially in a world that demands more from you.
So, take a moment to breathe, reflect, and embrace the journey ahead. You’re not alone in this; support is available. Let’s reclaim our narratives and move forward together.

Welcome back, fabulous listeners! In this uplifting episode of ABGW, I’m Cheryl, your guide through the delightful chaos of life.
Today, we’re diving into the power of persistence and the joy that comes from taking those small, sometimes wobbly steps towards your goals.
Forget the notion that you need to be fearless to finish what you’ve started; it’s all about starting anyway!
We challenge the myth that balance equates to boredom and instead celebrate the beautiful messiness of life.
You’ll learn that persistence isn’t a punishment but rather a partnership between who you are now and who you are becoming.
Each small step you take builds quiet, lasting confidence, and we’ll explore how to harness this to create a brighter, more balanced future.
I’ll share insights from my 31 Days to Balance and Wellbeing course, designed to help you embrace your journey, no matter how imperfect it may feel.
Remember, progress is progress, no matter the pace. If you’ve ever smiled, sighed, or recognised yourself in the struggle, that’s a sign of growth!
So grab your favourite brew, take a deep breath, and let’s find a little lightness together.
Your permission slip to begin is here—don’t wait for the perfect moment. Embrace the journey, and let’s make progress together!
Every step, even the wobbly ones, leads you closer to who you’re meant to be.

Welcome to another enlightening episode of ABGW, where we take a moment to breathe amidst the busy whirlwind of life.
I’m Cheryl, your guide on this journey to rediscover that calm, capable version of yourself that often gets buried under to-do lists and endless tasks.
In this miniseries, we’ll be exploring how small steps can lead to significant changes, five minutes at a time.
Today, I’m sharing a personal confession: I used to be the queen of 'almost done'.
I would tackle the hard parts—classes, case studies, client work, like a Don—only to freeze just before the finish line. This wasn’t laziness; it was fear.
That nagging voice whispering, “Why bother? You’ll fail anyway,” is all too familiar for many of us. But here’s the truth: persistence isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about moving forward, even when your knees are shaking.
Every time I hesitated, I realised it wasn’t failure; it was feedback.
Each pause revealed where my healing needed more attention. When I finally submitted my hypnotherapy coursework, the real victory wasn’t in the certificates, but in trusting myself to follow through.
If you’ve ever found yourself stopping short, remember: you’re not broken; you’re just scared. And guess what? You can rewire that fear.
Join me next time as we delve into building courage and persistence—not through grinding harder, but by embracing self-love and commitment to your journey. If today’s message resonated with you, don’t overthink it.
Take action! One small choice, one calmer breath, one shift is how change begins. Remember, your pace is perfect, and every step brings you closer to a brighter future.

Welcome to another soothing episode of ABGW, where we embark on a gentle journey through the beautiful chaos of humanity.
I'm Cheryl, your supportive guide, here to help you slow down and remind your nervous system that peace isn't a prize, it's a practice.
So, please take a deep breath, find your space, and let's dive in.
Ever wish life came with an easy button?
If only it were that simple! The truth is, if success were easy, everyone would have it. Most people would rather indulge in a pizza and binge-watch their favourite shows than pursue their big dreams. And that's perfectly okay!
It's simply part of our human nature. The reality is, there's less competition than you might think because many give up the moment things get uncomfortable.
Today, we're celebrating persistence as the true superpower. It's not about being the smartest or the flashiest; it's about who keeps showing up, even when the excitement fades
. Whether you're writing a SOPs, launching a new business, or training for a marathon, remember that 95% of the journey is ordinary. It's that last 5%—the "I did it"—that creates the magic.
If life feels challenging right now, it's not because you're doing it wrong; it's simply because you're doing it right.
In our next episode, we'll explore what happens when you've put in the effort but still struggle to cross the finish line.
Hold on to these feelings of small shifts and quiet clarity. You don't need to have it all figured out; take one small step at a time.
Every step, no matter how tiny, brings you closer to a brighter, more balanced future. Trust in your journey.

Welcome, my fabulous listeners, to another empowering episode of ABGW!
So, as we approach the 25th, I wish you all season's greetings. May you find moments of stillness, laughter, and love that feel genuine and fulfilling.
I'm Cheryl, your guide on this journey of transforming stress into a stylish shuffle towards sanity. As we approach the festive season, I want to share some heartfelt insights that might just help you navigate the holiday chaos with a little more ease and grace.
Christmas can often feel less like a joyous celebration and more like a full-time job, can't it?
In this episode, we delve into the true essence of the season—finding your peace, rhythm, and joy not just for a day, but all year round. I’ll share my personal stories of Christmas past, from the stress and tension of my childhood celebrations to the warmth and inclusion I finally experienced as a teenager.
Have you ever felt the pressure to perform during the holidays?
The expectations of being generous, loving, and sociable can be overwhelming. But what if we redefined Christmas on our own terms?
Whether you choose to skip the Christmas tree, opt for a quiet celebration, or simply enjoy moments of connection with those who uplift your spirit, that’s perfectly valid. Christmas is about presence, not performance.
Join me as we explore how the spirit of connection, compassion, and kindness can extend beyond December, allowing us to carry these values throughout the year.
This is your chance to embrace what the season means to you, free from societal pressures. Remember, you don’t need a special occasion to show kindness or love; you do that every day just by being you.
Together, let’s take these tiny steps towards a brighter, calmer you.
Subscribe, breathe, and repeat—every little bit counts!

Welcome back, ABGW crew, to another enlightening episode of our ABGW miniseries, where we take just five minutes to reconnect with the calm, capable version of ourselves that often gets buried under endless to-do lists.
Today, we’re diving into the transformative power of paradigm change—a deeper shift that allows us to see the world and ourselves in a new light.
In our previous episode, we discussed the futility of merely slapping on a new attitude like a fresh coat of paint. Today, we’re exploring how genuine change comes from within. Imagine a friend who battled alcoholism, trying every trick in the book to change his behaviour.
It wasn’t until he shifted his self-perception from a hopeless addict to a capable, worthy individual that real transformation began to unfold. This is the essence of a paradigm shift—changing the inner narrative that dictates our actions.
Cheryl shares her love for hypnotherapy as a gentle facilitator of this change, helping individuals rewire their internal stories through personalised approaches like emotional freedom technique and solution-focused work.
When we learn to see ourselves differently, the behaviours we wish to change naturally follow, making life feel lighter and more manageable.
If you’ve been struggling with old patterns and feel exhausted from trying to force change, perhaps it’s time to ask yourself not what you need to fix, but rather what is waiting to heal within you. Remember, real transformation doesn’t require white-knuckle perseverance; it’s about embracing gentler perspectives.
So, if today’s message resonates with you, don’t hesitate to take action. One small choice, one calming breath, one shift in perspective can set you on the path to a brighter future.
Trust in your pace, knowing that every step brings you closer to the amazing, brilliant, gorgeous, wonderful life you deserve.

Welcome to this enlightening miniseries of ABGW, where we embark on a gentle journey through the beautifully chaotic realm of being human.
Join me, Cheryl, as we slow things down and remind our nervous systems that peace isn't merely a prize to be won, but a practice to be embraced. So find your breath, carve out your space, and let's dive in together.
In this episode, we reflect on a powerful lesson from my mentor, Kelly, who once said, "True change can only happen on the inside." This sentiment resonates deeply, especially when we consider how often we try to change our behaviour first, believing that if we work harder or wear a smile, life will fall into place.
It's a common misconception that leads many of us to feel like we're cracking the whip on ourselves, only to find that once the pressure eases, we slip right back into old patterns.
We often move to phase two, the so-called attitude shift, plastering on grins and repeating affirmations in hopes of masking our inner turmoil. But let's be honest: behavioural change is external, and attitude change is fleeting. Both rely on willpower, which can be as short-lived as a toddler's energy after a sugar rush.
So, what's the alternative? It's time for a paradigm shift—an internal transformation that changes not only what we do, but also how we perceive things. When our perceptions shift, our behaviours follow naturally.
In our next episode, we'll delve deeper into this transformative process, exploring how changing the lens through which we view our lives can lead to profound changes. If you've ever found yourself back at square one after trying to change a habit, this journey is for you.
Until then, take a moment to breathe and remember: progress is progress, no matter how small.
Embrace the feelings you carry with you, and trust in your journey.
Every small step is a step towards a brighter, more balanced future.
