  • Episode 21 | From CPA to CEO with Tanya Budd

On this episode, I sat down with Tanya Budd, CPA and Business Consultant based in Saskatoon, SK. We had so many great talks about one of the biggest things in business... your finances.

Here's a snippet of what we chatted about:

    • The importance & impact of understanding your finances in your business
    • Real-life examples of how to approach understanding your finances in a way that isn’t overwhelming and is easily applicable
    • What to do when scarcity mindset creeps up for you when you’re looking at your numbers
    • How to make decisions based on both data and intuition in your business
    • Why rest is one of the top things you can learn to do as a business owner

Tanya knew she wanted more from her life and work so she took a leap of faith. She left her safe, cushy, corporate job in the middle of a global pandemic and started a small consulting firm working with female entrepreneurs.

Fast forward a year and a half, and Tanya has a team of CPAs and administrative/systems professionals working with her and her clients to tackle the big, juicy problems that so many small business owners face. And they see wildly successful results every single day.

Tanya is in her zone of genius when a client comes to her with a problem she hasn’t encountered before. She loves diving in through research and discovery with her team to figure out an innovative way to solve the problem.

Everyone has their own reasons for becoming an entrepreneur, but Tanya’s are freedom, flexibility and the ability to jump on a plane whenever she wants. Tanya loves to travel (her most recent trip was Tulum!); she loves to spend time with her partner, Anthony, and their cats, Georgia and Antoinette; and she loves to play tennis although she admits she’s sh*t at it.

    What Tanya's Loving:

    1. Celebratory Drink: Aperol Spritz
    2. Book: Good to Great
    3. Musician: Sam Cook
    4. Brand to follow: Harvard Business Review
    5. Wellness practice: Reflexology

Having gone through this cycle a number of times herself, she has become somewhat of an 'expert' on this. • Episode 19: Building Sustainability Into Your Business with Lindsay Zarowny

On this week's guest episode, I sat down to chat with Lindsay Zarowny, creator of enLihte Hair Powders. Moving to the woods 10 years ago helped Lindsay realize that the most important things to her were simplicity, quality in all areas; including food and nourishment, natural living and connection to the seasons. She is a spouse, mother to 2 young children, homemaker, and gardener of food and flowers.

Finding natural, effective products to support simplicity in self care is really important to Lindsay; and while she was able to find amazing skin care products, she was left with choosing between chemical laden dry shampoos or ineffective powders from the health food store. This led her to start experimenting with different clays to mix up what she always hoped to find in a natural dry shampoo. With help and testing from friends and family to expand shade needs, enLihte hair powders were born to bend time, support feeling refreshed and polished, bringing lightness and ease to your hair care.

Lindsay’s dream is that we all understand that caring for ourselves is necessary and valuable for our own well being, however this looks for an individual. And that from this place of space and love we are able to share ourselves and our gifts with others.

This is an invitation to remember your connection to your personal care products, your hair and how this translates as an added layer of love, with presence.

The name enLihte is a combination of en: a prefix meaning ‘within or in’ + Lihte (Old English) to illuminate, to make light or easy. These are the guiding principles of the offering of enLihte products, that we can enLihte our locks with the light we give to ourselves, with time, intention and care, welcoming lightness and ease into our hair care as way of loving on ourselves.

In this episode we chatted about:

    • The journey of creating enLihte
    • Building sustainability into your business model
    • The importance of staying true to your vision & intention
    • Listening to the whispers of cosmic shoves
    • Finding the magic in the mundane moments
    • The beauty of hair rituals as showing yourself love
    • Bending time with hair care & making rituals in moments
    • How to be flexible when building a business based on sustainability and finding the better option
    • Sustainability as an idea that extends to your own energy, and the financial aspects of your business, too

    Here's what Lindsay's Loving!:

    1. Celebratory drink: Spruce-tip Kombucha
    2. Book you’re reading or eyeing up: American in Provence
    3. Song to listen to or genre of music: Rising Appalachia & Starling Arrow
    4. Business or brand to follow on social media: @mamamedicine
    5. Wellness practice: Getting out and appreciating nature

I absolutely adored this conversation and episode, and hope you do, too! Lindsay has so generously offered a discount for Work & Worthiness Listeners for enLihte Hair Powders! Use the code ALIGN15 to receive 15% off on the enLihte website: enlihte.ca

  • Episode 16 | How To Curb Workaholism

Please be aware that addictions & workaholism are discussed in this episode.

This solo episode is one of my more vulnerable shares: Talking about my workaholism. I’ve known that I am a workaholic for several years now, but it’s not something I publicly talk about a lot. I mention it nonchalantly and I think people assume I am perhaps saying that as an exaggeration for being busy and working a lot. The truth is, though, I am a workaholic. Not all the time anymore. It’s something I am working through daily and have flair-ups every once in a while. One of which I just went through and why I decided to record this episode and talk about it publicly. This episode is me sharing what my journey of workaholism has looked like, why I feel I am addicted to work, and share the tips that have aided me in helping to curb it. My hope in sharing my journey is that if you are also dealing with workaholism, this episode makes you feel less alone in the struggle.

If you or someone you love is struggling with workaholism, please seek support. Visit https://workaholics-anonymous.org/ for resources and meeting information.
