- Episode 132: TEDD Dogs with Jason DuttonWhat was getting your first K9 like? The good, the bad, and the ugly; we get into it with this episode!Your WDR Hosts, Eric @vanessk9 & Ted @ted_summers, sit down with a former Army Tactical Explosive Detection Dog (TEDD) handler, current Police K9 officer in upstate South Carolina and owner of Carolina Canine Academy, Jason Dutton. The gents talk with Dutton about his time going from never having handled or trained a K9 before, to becoming a TEDD handler, then going to Von Liche Kennels and K2 for training with his dog. He also shares the story of his first deployment going on patrol outside the wire; not just as U.S. Army asset, but as a NATO asset, and he got to work with Polish Special Forces.Canine isn’t all sex and rock and roll, there can be an underbelly to it, and Dutton was not shy to hit on some of the hard topics with our hosts. - Episode 131: MAGA with David RiveraAre good quality K9s becoming more difficult to find?Your WDR Hosts, Eric @vanessk9 & Ted @ted_summers, are honored to sit down with Air Force veteran and current K9 handler in New Canaan, Connecticut, David Rivera of Black Rock Canines, (which is a large importing kennel @BlackrockK9s and BlackRockCanines.com)The gents talk about the challenges of K9 supply & demand, buying dogs, future green dog sales, availability (or lack thereof) of dogs, the price of K9s, knowing your clients, and how a new 501c3 could change the way departments get dogs (keep reading!!)Healthy, genetically-tested, U.S.A-bred dogs are hard to find. Dogs from other nations are often procured and deployed by the military and law enforcement at significant cost, only to find that their temperaments or preventable illnesses render these dogs unsuitable for service. Rivera founded Black Rock Canines to solve these challenges by establishing the first large-scale breeding program of high-performing, healthy, genetically-tested working dogs, service dogs, and pets in the U.S.A.Rivera also started a foundation called American Detection Dog Foundation whose mission is to establish and run a working dog breeding/raising program in the United States. Please consider donating to the GoFundMe below; your donations will go directly to the raising of detection dogs right here in the United States of America (If you can’t donate, be sure to follow them, and like/share/repost to help them get the word out there!)https://www.gofundme.com/f/detection-dogs-needed?utm_campaign=p_nacp+share-sheet&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebookThank you to our amazing partners:@KineticDogFoodkineticdogfood.com513-615-6904@nck9llc nck9.us919-438-0141@americanaluminumaccessoriesToll Free#: 800.277.0869ezrideronline.com@horizonstructures888-447-4337horizonstructures.com/commercial-dog-kennels@southerncoastk9877.903.DOGSsoutherncoastk9.com@rayallenk9 rayallen.comDiscount “WORKINGDOGRADIO” 10% off@dogtraofficial dogtra.comDiscount “WDR10” for 10% off of a single item over $200@hits_k9 Training and Conference Jeff at 863-529-5113hitsk9.net@quickdermbyvetcare vetcare.usDiscount “10WDR” 10% off of your 1st order@tacticalpolicek9tacticalpolicek9training.com@almk9equipmentalmk9equipment.comDiscount “WDRADIO” 10% off of your 1st order@tripwire_operations_group tripwireops.orgMusic with permission by @brotherdege brotherdege.net1 hr 41 min
