Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of 1 Corinthians 16:13 which says "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong."
"I bought these cute new quad skates and I have this dream that I am going to be this rockstar skater. For whatever reason it’s been a lot harder for me to skate than it was when I was a kid. On Saturday I went rollerskating and I fell 4 times. I wore a helmet, but I still managed to slam my head on the ground causing major whiplash. I am still in so much pain when I get out of beds in the mornings and when I turn in some directions.
The problem was I have no core strength, so as soon as I lost my balance I would fall rather than trying to save myself by using my core.
This verse relates to what I experienced. It says be on your guard; stand firm … just like when I was skating, I has full of fear, was off my guard and was the furthest from standing firm and within minutes I was on the ground. The same thing can happen to us in life if we don’t work on our core muscles. In the spiritual world that means out faith.
We need to work on our faith, we need to work on our courage, we need to work on our strength. This way when things get a little uneasy, we have a foundation to catch us before we fall.
Today as you got about your day, make a list of things that you can do to help you work on your faith, on your courage, and on your strength. Maybe it’s more worship time, maybe it’s more journaling time, maybe it’s just more time of having an open conversation with Him. What ever it is, ask Him for guidance and do that one thing."
