Spanish company NovaMeat, which develops 3D printed plant-based meat, has developed the world’s largest cellular meat prototype, according to Giuseppe Scionti, bioengineer, foodtech entrepreneur and founder of NovaMeat.

As more and more companies in the cell-based meat space migrate from prototype to full pilot production phase, one of the questions that we need to start thinking about is how exactly all this meat will be made at scale.

Like so many other startups in the space, PizzaForno doesn’t like to call its product a “vending machine.” That term carries with it a lot of baggage, conjuring up coils of stale snacks. Instead, the company makes “Automated Pizza Ovens.” But regardless of what you call it, PizzaForno is bringing its 24-hour, unattended pizza kiosk to the U.S. next month.

Switzerland-based Mirai Foods, announced this week that it has raised $2.1M CHF (~$2.4 million USD) in funding in its initial Seed round (hat tip to FoodBev Media). The round included participation from seven investors in total, including the Pauling Group and Team Europe.

When Peggs becomes available for direct to consumers purchase in late Spring of 2021, the retail price will be around $6 per bag, which equates to about a half dozen eggs. O’Brien said the goal is to eventually lower the price so Peggs’ eggs are equal cost to organic eggs. The product will be available for pre-order when the Kickstarter launches, and a two-bag minimum purchase, for $12, is required. Products purchased through Kickstarter will ship in May 2021. The company aims to raise $37K through the campaign.

The new sous vide JUST Egg bites will be available in flavors inspired by cuisines in Japan, America, Mexico, and India.

Israel-based ag tech company Vertical Field announced today that it has signed an agreement with Emirates Smart Solutions & Technologies (ESST), which develops high-tech agricultural projects around the Persian Gulf, to pilot vertical farms in the United Arab Emirates. The first farm will be installed as part of a research, development, and training center in Umm Al Quwain.
