· Today, Humanitarian coordinator for Libya, Maria do Valle Ribeiro, will give press conference on current humanitarian situation in Libya and priorities of the humanitarian response plan 2018

· Conference on Disarmament continues this week, with plenary session tomorrow.

Michael McKay is in Zürich and at one of the bastions of Swiss, academic achievement. It’s known widely by its abbreviation – ETH which stands for……Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich. Or the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

The ETH consistently ranks amongst the most prestigious universities in Europe for the subjects of engineering and technology.

It was ranked 8th in the world in the 2016 edition of the QS World University Rankings, whilst that same body, ranking by subject, listed it as the best university in the world for Earth & Marine Sciences over the past couple of years.

Michael is talking to Professor Sarah Springman: an exceptional woman. The Rector of the ETH and only the second woman to hold this elevated position.

The pleasure garden, open to the public for entertainment and enjoyment, has a long and illustrious history. The Emperor Tiberius opened one to the Roman public in the first century, which stayed standing, despite being sacked by the Goths in the 4th century, for 600 years. More recently, the Vauxhall Pleasure gardens in London, were open from 1785 and boasted many marvels from hot air balloon ascents to a Turkish tent. I think the Disneyland Paris gardens are a direct continuation of this historical trend, and the Director Luc Behar Bannelier was able to tell me all about the wonders of the garden and how it was created.

Ally Bainton got in touch with such enthusiasm for his local running / walking club that we had to listen.

He's part of an organisation called Parkrun, who organise weekly 5km walks or runs and he attends every Saturday morning at 9am. Though runs each week in Divonne, there's plenty of Parkrun events worldwide.
