The United Nations marks World Refugee Day today focusing on the power of inclusion under the theme "Together we heal, learn and shine." The Day - previously known as Africa Refugee Day - has been marked each June 20th since 2001 in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the 1951Convention relating to the Status of Refugees. Some 82 million people worldwide were forcibly displaced by the end of 2020 as a result of persecution, conflict, human rights violation or events that seriously disturb public order.
