My heart-led decision to try teaching. 

• I had a childhood dream of becoming a teacher
• I was pursuing a teaching degree in 2011 but got sick
• The opportunity in Florida reignited that dream

The process of becoming a substitute teacher.

• Fingerprints, training, prep
• Felt proud to step into the role
• First assignment: middle school with behavioral students

How I went above and beyond.

• Learned names, connected with students
• Made the effort to build trust and create a calm environment
• Kids even noticed my effort and care

The misinterpretation and the unexpected outcome.

• Shared my podcast with a few students out of inspiration
• Asked for help in a class of 22 energetic first graders
• Feedback that wasn’t reflective of my actual performance
• Suddenly removed without fair process or understanding

How I processed the loss.

• Felt Hurt, confused, and disappointed
• Realized I didn’t do anything “wrong,” just was agains the policy of the contracting company
• Understanding that my gifts may be meant for a different classroom—the digital one, the podcast, my coaching, my community

The deeper wisdom.

• “Rejection is redirection” and “rejection is protection”
• Maybe getting sick was my body saying “pause”
• Maybe this isn't my final destination—just a stepping stone
• I am a teacher—just not in the traditional sense
• I empower others every day through my coaching, podcast, & content

Dede Lyons is a joy to talk to! We had so much fun chatting! 

Dede is an Empowerment Coach, an Author, a Speaker & an Angel Guide,
Dede is the Founder of Feel Good Express lifestyle program.
Her self-empowered journey began at age 40 when in the
midst of her career in broadcast television in NYC, she found herself
and her colleagues running out of steam and burning out from the high
demands of their jobs. She was determined to find more ways to feel
energized and invigorate herself and her sales team so she
embarked on a path to recharge her mindset and raise her vibration!

She used mind/body/spirit tools: journaling, aromatherapy and the
power of positive thinking, coupled with reading over 400 self-help
books, Dede extracted the pearls of wisdom that would eventually
become the foundation of Feel Good Express.
At age 62 years young Dede stepped away from her successful 32-
year career in broadcast sales and management, 25 years in NYC at
Cox Media Sales, Petry Television and 7 years at WPTV the NBC
affiliate in West Palm Beach. Her Feel Good Express path ignited,
relaying she was in “rebootment” not in retirement. She wrote her first
book, The Joy of Tweeting and later the Feel Good Journal. Today she
writes magazine articles, leads seminars, workshops along with her
private coaching practice.

Show/ Voice America, WPTV-NBC Today Show at 11, Next To

As a child, Lawrence endured abuse, isolation, and negative beliefs that convinced him he was worthless. At 14, Lawrence made a life-altering decision to no longer let his circumstances define him. He knew he couldn't rewrite his past, but he realized he held the pen to his future. This decision sparked a journey of reclaiming his inner strength and breaking free from limiting beliefs.

At 15, Lawrence began writing and speaking to help others overcome their own struggles. From that first opportunity to speak at a summer camp, he discovered the power of sharing his story to connect with those who feel unseen and unheard.
