  • Getting Carrie'd Away

Carrie. One of the most iconic horror films to date. Based on the 1974 book by Stephen King, Carrie is a masterpiece. First brought to the big screens in 1976 starring Sissy Spacek, Carrie became a cultural reset, and a cult classic all in one. Fast forward to 2013. Carrie is remade, with Chloe Grace Moretz in the leading role. That's right. Chloe Grace Moretz. Now we have two vastly different portrayals of the same character.

We've got a situation of Carrie vs. Carrie. In the battle of original vs. remake, who will win? Join me as I discuss the casting of the original and remake, and finally decide once and for all, which version of the film is the best, and which actor did the best job. As usual, stay tuned till the end of the episode and listen as I play 'Cast It or Pass It' and decide which Carrie should stay, and which Carrie should go.

  • (The) Truman Show'd Us

The Truman Show. What more can I say? A truly iconic film that told such an interesting story that we've ironically ended up seeing ourselves live everyday. In an age where social media is ever-present and everything we do can end up being recorded online for anyone to see at the drop of a hat, The Truman Show seems silly now, but it really isn't. But what makes this film so dynamic, interesting, and upheld almost twenty-something years later is the casting. But I have to ask, is Jim Carrey really everybody's favourite choice for Truman? Does he live up to the hype that this film is given? Is Jim Carrey's reputation as a funny-guy forcing too much, or does it prove that he's more than just giving the audience some laughs?

Join me as I discuss Jim Carrey's performance as the titular Truman Burbank, and determine if his performance as this naive, yet humble man is really all that great, and up to par, or if its just short of fantastic. Are there moments where I feel like Truman should've been played by someone else? Stick around. As usual, stay tuned to the end of the episode and join me as I play 'Cast It or Pass It' and decide if Jim Carrey should stay, or if he should go.

  • Le(t)s Get Miserables

Les Miserables. A musical that blew everyone away, right? Set in 1800s France, with a backdrop of the June Rebellion, this musical takes the audience on a wild journey focusing on the story of a paroled man, trying to escape from his parole officer while navigating his own life, and new fatherhood. But, it has to be asked, is Les Miserables as great as everyone says it is? Does the cast hold up almost ten years later? Specifically, does Russell Crowe's performance of Javert hold up almost ten years later?

Join me as I discuss Russell Crowe's performance of Javert, and everything favourable, unfavourable, and things in between about his performance. Is his casting choice as bad as people make it out to be? Are there parts of it that are actually redeemable? Let's find out. As usual, stay tuned to the end of the episode to hear me play 'Cast It or Pass It' to determine whether Russell Crowe should stay, or if he should go.

  • You, Me & The Mummy Makes Three

The Mummy. One of the best historical fantasy/comedy films of all time, right? I mean, it was hugely successful and spawned two sequels, and had its own spin-off with The Scorpion King (2002). Starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, this film transports you into 1930s Egypt on a mission to defeat a man who is undead, who unfortunately has a LOT of pent up anger. But, apart from the absolutely bonkers plot, what really stands out to me is the casting of The Mummy.

Join me as I go through the casting of The Mummy, led by Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz as Rick O'Connell and Evelyn Carnahan, and whether this casting is all that it's made up to be, or if it's just hyped up, and as I eventually play 'Cast It or Pass It' and decide whether the casting of The Mummy should stay, or if it should go.

  • Psycho: Sometimes Imitation Is(n't) the Highest Form of Flattery

Psycho. We all know about it, or have seen it and loved it. But tonight, I'm not talking about the 1960 film that revolutionised the slasher film genre and is widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. No sir. I'm talking about the 1998 remake of the iconic horror film starring Vince Vaughn  as Norman Bates. Yes, Vince Vaughn. Do you think Vince Vaughn was the right choice for dear old Norman, or do you think it should've gone to someone else?

Join me as I get into why I don't think Vince Vaughn was the right choice to play Norman Bates in this remake, and how I couldn't help but compare his performance to Anthony Perkins' performance the entire time, and eventually as I play "Cast It or Pass It" on Vince Vaughn, and if he should be given another chance or be thrown out of the running.

  • Foxcatcher... All Caught Up
Foxcatcher is a film based on the true story of what happened at Foxcatcher farm between the late eighties and nineties. The film tells the story of John E. DuPont, philanthropist, millionaire, failed athlete who wants to turn his team Foxcatcher into winning athletes. But this podcast isn't about the film plot, it's about the film casting. Do you think Steve Carell, Mark Ruffalo, and Channing Tatum did a satisfactory job as John E. DuPont and David and Mark Schulz, or do you think the casting could've been entirely different?
Join me as I go over the casting of the film and why I think this cast was spot on, and eventually as I play "Cast It or Pass It" and decide whether the cast should stay as is, or change it up for something different.

  • The Joker: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Pt.3

The Joker. What more can I say? What a multi-dimensional character that has been played by so many actors.

Tonight we conclude the series on the Joker and the many actors who have portrayed this character. In this episode, I go in depth into both Jared Leto and Heath Ledger's versions of the Joker in Suicide Squad and The Dark Knight, and finally attempt to determine which actor portrayed The Joker the best. Join me as I conclude everything I've discussed in the past two episodes to finally determine which Joker comes out on top, and as I play "Cast It or Pass It" to see if there were only one Joker to rule them all, who it would be played by.

*This episode is the final in a series on The Joker*

  • The Joker: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Pt.2

The Joker. What more can I say? What a multi-dimensional character that has been played by so many actors.

Tonight we continue the series on the Joker and the many actors who have portrayed this character. In this episode, I go in depth into Heath Ledger's portrayal of the villain in The Dark Knight. Was Heath Ledger's version of The Joker the best to exist, or are we over-exaggerating his performance? Join me as I talk about all aspects of his character, and why it is such a hard role to replace. Join me as I go through Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker and ultimately play "Cast It or Pass It", where I determine whether Ledger's role is iconic, or if it should be given to someone else.

  • The Joker: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Pt.1

The Joker. What more can I say? What a multi-dimensional character that has been played by so many actors.

Tonight we start a series on the Joker and the many actors who have portrayed this character. We start out with Jared Leto's version of the villain in 'Suicide Squad' and discuss whether or not his portrayal of the iconic Batman Villain is really that bad, or if we're being too harsh? Was Jared Leto the right actor in the wrong film, or was he the wrong actor in the wrong film? Join me as I go through his portrayal of the Joker, and ultimately play "Cast it or Pass It" and decide whether he should be replaced with another actor.

  • Scott Pilgrim vs. The World vs...Me?

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. What an undeniably wild film. BUT. Do you actually like the casting of Ramona Flowers? Do you think Mary Elizabeth Winstead was the right choice for iconic Ramona, or do you think she could've been played by another person? Did the film cast exceed your expectations of the comic book adaptation? Or did it fall short? Did Ramona end up being everything you'd wanted, or did you end the film with a feeling of "What If?"

Join me as I go in-depth as to why I don't think Ramona was played by the right actor, and eventually as I play "Cast it or Pass It" (FKA "Cast Me or Pass Me") on Ramona's actor, and if she should stay, or if she should go.

About Would You Look at Her?!

From the publisher's feed

The Indian film industry is so diverse, that every film brings something new to the table. And with each film comes a heroine that's so distinct to the plot, that the movie probably wouldn't be what it is without her, even if she's just one character in an ensemble. Would You Look at Her focuses on heroines in Indian film, their character arcs, and why we should be focusing more on women in film across India. So, have you seen a bad bitch lately? If so, would you let me know?
