Host Kevin Gallagher speaks with Zachary Pickens is an urban gardener, seed saver, Master Composter, and the Former, full-time urban farmer at the Riverpark Farm at Alexandria Center. Zach developed school garden programs and managed youth-run farmers’ markets throughout Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx before joining Riverpark Farm as Farm Manager. Zach is a certified Master Composter and also started Rooftop Ready Seeds, focusing on the development of a stock of vegetable seeds that are tailored to the unique climate of the city of New York. Zach talks about his new organic farm for supplying NYC restaurants with fresh produce.

Anthony Silva joins "Digging in the Dirt" to talk all about his passion, Orchids.

Silva Orchids was founded in 1957 by August Silva. "Gus" started growing orchids in 1934 and became known for his superb orchid culture. In 1977 his sons, Anthony and Joseph took over the business after Gus' passing and have continued the tradition of producing only quality orchids.

Host Kevin Gallagher speaks with Darcy Hutzenlaub the manager of Food Pantry Farm a non-profit organization whose mission is to grow and donate fresh, organic produce to local food pantries and other organizations, increasing access to healthy, locally sourced products, and to raise understanding and awareness about hunger on the East End. It was founded in response to the increasing number of East Hampton residents who were turning to local food pantries for help.

She currently serves as the first Director of the new Center for Advanced Research in Traditional Architecture (CARTA) at the University of Colorado Denver College of Architecture and Planning. Abigail Reynolds lives in St Just, Cornwall, and has a studio at Porthmeor in St Ives. She studied English Literature at Oxford University before pursuing Fine Art. Her interest in books & libraries prompts her collages and sculpture which are often composed of found photographs spliced to create fresh narratives.

Recently she has worked with Rambert as their inaugural artist-in-residence, and The Guardian Picture Library.

She has work in the Government Art Collection, Yale University Art Gallery, New York Public Library and many private collections.
