#writingtips #writeanovel #symbolicwriting
Symbols. Do you have high school language arts flashbacks of your teacher saying 'this means that.' Symbolism is everywhere! It's nuanced. It has many shades and levels. 'This' doesn't necessarily mean 'that.' Symbols are much more complex, which means it's a versatile and nuanced literary device that can add depth and complexity to your story.
Symbols and their layered meanings act as a diving board into a deep pool of emotional, psychological, spiritual, cultural, and intellectual dynamics that you decide how to mold and manipulate. It’s just one more tool for your writing toolbox.

#writingtips #writerfears
The fear is real! One of the main reasons new writers don't let anyone read their manuscript, query, or get author feedback is fear. Fear that your story is horrible, that someone will criticize it, or that you will be told it's less than perfect and needs revisions. Truth bomb. It probably does need revisions. That's totally normal!
Don't let your fear hold you back from the writing process, learning and growing as a writer, and taking your story to the next level, whether that's querying or self-publishing. In this no nonsense episode, I have 20 questions to ask yourself about your story and why not to be afraid of the wonderful-horrible thing called the writing process .
