#writingtips #showemotion #characterization
Every editor wants a writer to show--not tell-- the emotion of the characters. It's easy to fall into the trap of using hackneyed expressions. It's much more challenging to find ways to show character emotions in an authentic and unique way.
This episode is all about easy ways to show that ever essential emotion in your characters.

#writinglife #writingblocks #authorproblems #writerovewhelm
Burnout. Overwhelm. Exhaustion. It happens to the best of us.
The To Do list becomes overwhelming and there just isn't enough time and energy. It brings all our plans to a screeching stop. Sometimes the body--not the mind-- say, 'No. You need a break.'
This episode is a truly personal look at what happens when I pushed myself too far and too long, and my body decided to take control of my To Do LIST.

Writers love to write. Except when we don't. Or when we have to manage all that writing and authoring stuff! The act and art of writing includes experiences that run the gamut from the fabulous to the ugly.
In this episode, I keep it 100% real about the good and bad reality of writing. Once we know and understand the good, bad, and ugly aspects or writing and authoring, we can face our fears...and you know the rest of that phrase...the writing truth will set us free.

If you're an indie author your book cover needs to look just as good as the big publishers' covers. That's the truth. Don't skimp on cover art and/or graphic design. Book covers matter. I see way too many indie covers that look indie. That's not good.
Readers DO judge a book by its cover. So you may have the most beautiful prose or the best story, but if your book cover isn't on point in regards to genre, then readers will swipe past it. If it looks amateur, readers will assume your writing is amateur.
In this episode you'll find no nonsense author advice, tips, and questions to ask yourself before you decide to slap on a less than amazing cover. Find show notes at Club Autumn on FaceBook.

Do you have a manuscript sitting on your laptop? Are your too afraid to take the next step? Don't be! I hear it all the time. I'm too afraid to show my manuscript to anyone. Someone will criticize it. Someone will suggest a revision or tell me it's not perfect!
In this episode, we look at all the new writer excuses for not taking the next step and why you simply must overcome those fears to be the best writer you can and fulfill your writing goals.
Fear is fine! It's totally normal. But don't let it stop you from achieving your writing dreams.
Oh, and Mrs. Potato Head? I use her to explain why your fears are not a great as you think they are and why those fears will help you become a better writer. By the way, your manuscript is NOT your book baby! There's a better name for it!

You finished the novel. You revised it a thousand times. Now it's time to send the dreaded query letter to literary gents. If this is your first query, you know it's a confusing and frustrating process. Yet it may be the only reason that a literary agent decides to ask for a full or partial.
A query has to be more than perfect. It has to bait the agent and entice them enough to ask for more.
From your query alone, the literary agent can tell if you have excellent writing and author skills. No wonder writing a query is nerve-racking.
This episode shares the Do's and don'ts of the query letter. The more you know and understand what literary agents are looking for the better!

Now comes the hard part. Organizing all that information so you can find it and access it later.
In this episode, I share 14 things I do after attending a writer's conference. Get all that info under control!
