Breast Cancer Research. New research published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that women with early-stage breast cancer that has not spread to the lymph nodes don't actually need to undergo chemotherapy. The study found gene tests on tumor samples were able to identify women who could safely skip chemotherapy and take only a drug that blocks the hormone estrogen or stops the body from making it. This does not apply to those who have large tumors or those with caner that has spread or metastasized.
