The X-Men: XOS OHOTMU (X-Men X Of Swords (pronounced "ten of swords") Official Handbook Of The Marvel Universe edition) gave readers unique insight into what is, and, many times, isn't expected reading for the X-Verse. First up: Nico, Jonah, & Evelyn tackle the classic Excalibur characters -- from the lack of Brian in his own narrative, to the relationship driven Betsy pages, the team has a lot to say. Evelyn talks real about what it's like to be a woman working in a comic shop and how the female character's journeys frequently reflect that of the geek girl. Nico & Jonah pivot to Meggan before three of them sink into the long-missing-Moira who gets little more than an abridged reprinting of Powers Of X #1. From there, Matty, Kyle, & Nathan take us to Krakoa & The X-Men themselves as they look at the core of the title, alongside Broo, world's cutest lil Brood. Then, the three of them posit what maybe in store for the future of the X-Men's most favorite lovable weirdo, Cypher. Then, Josh & Arturo bring their rapidfire magic and welcome in newest member Robbie as the three examine the Great Captains (oh and Apoc). Whether its boggling at the exclusions for Logan, marveling at the amazing of Magik, questioning the future for Apocalypse, or just plain asking who the fuck Gorgon is, the team close out the OHOTMU OGs with a bang! All this, AND MUCH MORE, on an all new X IS FOR PODCAST: THIS IS X OF SWORDS.
A question of convocation -- the calling to a purpose. In 1975, a new group of mutants were called together, and in 2020 a team of artists were brought together to create it all again. The Giant-Size Tribute to Wein & Cockrum brings together incredible artists to retell the story that first gave us Krakoa -- and of course, somehow, it becomes the Lorna show for Nico & Evelyn. Then, things turn to the Wolverine/X-Force crossover penned by Percy, and while Jonah and the guys -- Rod, Nathan, Josh, & Arturo -- all felt like they'd seen some of it before -- everyone // loves // SOLEM. Tho Matty & Kyle question whether or not there really needs to be a new Logan nemesis -- when he's still got himself. All this and more on an all new THIS IS X, featuring a diverse collection of X voices!
We begin on the eve of war -- and it only gets worse from there. Teams Krakoa & Arakko prepare for what is shaping up to be a line-redefining crossover experience, and everyone has a question. Nico questions where love and trust live in Krakoa in the wake of Rockslide's fall at the hands of The Summoner, which began as a search for affection and friendship -- not unlike the kind Logan lavishes on his favorites -- and, is ultimately what broke him. Rod praises the return of Monet and Manifold, while Nathan and Kyle wonder about the swords and swordmen themselves, leaving Matty curious about the relationship between the two entities. Also this plus Arturo & Josh get Polarious over Polaris and Evelyn & Jonah realizing this whole thing comes down to.....REAL ESTATE!? Leaving us with one final question: Who will stand to survive the Swordbearers. All this and more on an all-new X IS FOR PODCAST: THIS IS X OF SWORDS!
The Krakoa Crew is back at it with more EVERYTHING! Starting with a look at the final prelude to X Of Swords, everyone's all abuzz about the Summoner, who is gonna make their way into the mix, and reflect DEEP on those flashback pages. Then, the merry mutants switch their groups and take a look at Captain Britain -- the Nico table brings an extensive amount of Cap B knowledge and several rereads, while the Josh room....well, they're not sure about this one. But by the end, Evelyn takes on gender roles, the queers talk Forge's hot ass, and everyone is sure that whatever happens in X Of Swords, it's not gonna be good for A or the Braddocks.
Saturnyne. Saturnyne Opal Luna. Or is it Sat-Yr-9? That's the question on everyone's mind right now. Well. Nico & Arturo's mind. Meanwhile, Matty & Evelyn want to understand the hierarchical machinations behind the Otherworldian politics besieging our bedraggled heroes. What all of our panelists want to know? Apoc, Rictor, Betsy, Gambit, The Externals -- who is gonna survive? How are X-Men so good at being magic and why don't we mind it? And OBVIOUSLY, it's all about Rictor's exploding shirt. The new age of THIS IS X OF SWORDS, celebrating diverse fans as inclusive as the X-Men themselves, continues to BURN IT THE FUCK DOWN. READ ALONG with Excalibur #12!
The X-Men are too inclusive and diverse a concept to be truly represented by 5 voices. So what about 10? 20? Join a rotating cast of voices from all over the spectrum of fandom for a NEW kind of X-Men show -- where the councils are NEVER quiet. Nico, Jonah, Kyle, & Matty are joined by new guests each week, including Rod, Evelyn, Josh, Nathan, Arturo, Juan, Dr Matt Conner, and more as they tackle the X-Men from very different points of view, beginning with an in-depth look, issue by issue, at X OF SWORDS! All start RIGHT THE RIGHT NOW with FREE COMIC BOOK DAY: X-MEN. The team breaks down the Tarot, investigates the many Saturnynes (and equally bodacious badass blonde X-Men doppelsaturs), and when a Glob is not a Glob but a Rockslide. Also, did everyone know the Summoner was such a naughty badman? CHECK IT ALL OUT on a new X IS FOR PODCAST: THIS IS X OF SWORDS! Read along with Free Comic Book Day 2020: X-Men!
IT'S THE END OF EVERYTHING! Sort of. IT ENDS NOW! Kind of. ITS THE FINALE! Well, SEMI-finale until...THE RELAUNCH...NEXT WEEK! This is it. 150. Thank you all, again.
Nico, Jonah, Kyle, & Matty welcome back Nathan just in time for the XFaq trip to THE MOJOVERSE! But first up, the team imagines Krakoa TV at KRKX, and what kind of shows there'd be. After a dozen guesses at what which X-Men would sound like, what shows we'd produce, and what Illyana would be like on CRIBS, we take on the issue of the week -- X-Factor #3. The crew takes on Daken's humanity, traces of classic teams, mutant rehab, and the hierarchy of mutant family trees! Then, hang in for part 2 of Juan & Rod's EMPYRE AFTERMATH AFTERPARTY continues! All this, PLUS announcing the winners of our first ever Chango T giveaway, on a new THIS IS X! READ ALONG with X-Factor #3
Nico, Jonah, Kyle, Matty, & regular guest Josh finish out this week's books with Empyre & New Mutants as one crossover ends and passes the control of canon to the next. First up -- the team talks out the concept of the crossover and how they do -- or don't -- change the game. From there, the team says goodbye to Empyre, talking about the conclusion to the space story sans some of its tie-ins. Next up, the team takes a look at New Mutants, and discuss the past and future of Glob Herman, who has become one of the most lovable X-Men on Krakoa. Then, join contributors Rod & Juan as they give DEEP INSIGHT to the crossover they helped us cover with a multifacted look back on Empyre as an event! All this and more on a new X IS FOR PODCAST! READ ALONG with NEW MUTANTS #12 & EMPYRE #6
Nico, Jonah, Kyle, Matty, & new frequent guest Josh sink their teeth into the newest round of books but not before thinking a bit about the X-Franchise -- specifically, the names. We cover best renames (Laura to Wolverine!) and worst renames (Egg. This is one for you.) before looking at the mostly straight-white solo X-Narrative, and ask ourselves, what, if anything, has changed? Join the guys for an all new X IS FOR PODCAST!
